Story

Night 29

It's a dark, cold night. Clouds soar high in the sky, but the moon light still finds its way down to shine upon the camp. The final 6 return, and it's clear that tension is high. Everyone's silent as they set their stuff down, but nobody goes to bed. Instead they just stand around in their own discomfort. Rachael's seated on the stump next to the fire coals, which throw enough light to reveal her face deep in thought and concern.

Tonight is not a good night for my game, I found out the hard way that apparently I'm on the outs. I would have suspected this from anyone, this is a game, but I let my personal feelings get involved too much, I really did. Because I am absolutely appalled that Lynsie would be part of something like this.

–Rachael

We're a month into this game, we have ten days left. I've got to be a big girl, and make my own decisions based on what's going to get me further, and not let old friendships weight me down. Rachael, girl, I'm sorry. But I'm here for a million dollars, and at least now that you know where I stand there'll be no more lying.

–Lynsie

Lynsie walks over, and crouches down beside Rachael.

Lynsie: Do you want to talk?

Rachael: No, not right now.

Lynsie: I swear Rach, it was nothing personal leaving you out of the plan. It's a game, and I hope you respect that. I do care for you, and our friendship wasn't a joke, but I came here for a million dollars just like you did!

Rachael: I understand that, but I also wouldn't have undermined my integrity just for some money because there's some things that it wont be able to buy back. I'm sorry but after tonight, I uhh.. I have a different view of you that's for sure. I'm having a moment of clarity.

Understanding of Rachael's anger, Lynsie sighs and apologizes, telling her that if she changes her mind and wants to talk that they can.

No I don't want to talk to you, I don't even want to look at you! Stephen trusted you! And you did that. I'm not about to give her the time of day to listen to her try and justify it, why should I? She still wouldn't hesitate to do that same to me! Screw her, and her lies!

–Rachael

Day 30

Everyone wakes to find Rachael was not around, little did they know she woke up with the sun and decided to go sit by the lake for some time to think. Shaun carves out the thirtieth day into the tallies on the side of a prominent in camp tree, then begins work on preparing the meals.

It's outrageous to think I'm standing here, a whole month into this game. Where has time gone? I'm one of six people left standing, I've survived ten people leaving the game, and I have a one in six chance at a million dollars. I can't even put into words how amazing this feeling is waking up here, day thirty.

–Shaun

Laying in the shelter together, both Dan and Corinne pass time talking about when they get home all the foods they plan to eat, and how clean they're going to be. Dan states he plans on showering three times per day for the first week after the game's over, just to ensure he gets every last piece of dirt. Corinne decides she's going to head down to the lake and give herself a good scrub with some mud and leaves, she asks Dan to join but he declines her offer.

Corinne finds Rachael down at the shore, and the two make some small talk while Corinne wades in the water. However Rachael remains mostly quiet, and the atmosphere remains mostly awkward.

Over the past few days a lot has been exposed. How greedy these people are, that Rachael's on the outs, and that apparently I'm a pain in the ass almost worth voting out. I tried playing the game everyone wanted me to play and they still target me, so why should I roll over and make things easy for them? If Rachael wins immunity again, I'm gone! If she doesn't, I'm gone after that! I need to remember my plan coming here, to control my own fate. I'm here for my kids, not any of these other people. Clearly laying low and shutting up isn't working for me, so it's time to make a move.

–Corinne

While Corinne sits in a foot of water scrubbing her face, she turns to Rachael who's sitting in the sand and starts talking game dynamics.

Corinne: You know, I know how you feel. I may have voted with them last night, but I'm on the outs too.

Rachael: What happened? Why did you even vote with them if that was the case?

Corinne: I didn't know it was until about ten minutes before the vote. What happened was an alliance was formed by all of us physically weaker players in order to help each other out, and eliminate the big dogs. Only now, it's been made clear to me that I'm the first to go when we have to turn on one another, and I'm not about to sit here and let that happen, hence me talking to you right now.

Rachael: That explains a lot, actually. Dan and Shaun both voting out Nessa, and Lynsie, Johnathan, and Dan sitting out in the last immunity challenge. They knew they were for sure safe!

At this point Corinne's finished her bath, and joins Rachael sitting lakeside.

Rachael: I don't understand how I was so blind.

Corinne: I have that same feeling. I don't like being used. At all.

Rachael: What do you suggest we do?

Corinne: First, I think it's important you know that Lynsie has a hidden immunity idol.

Rachael: Oh my god, what?.

Corinne nods her head in confirmation.

Its become clear that I've underestimated Lynsie for awhile now. As much as I shouldn't be surprised, I am, and that's the part of it all that hurts the most. The word part of all though, is the fact that when I write her name down, I'll still cry about it.

–Rachael

Corinne suggests that at that exact moment they should make one another a final two pact, Rachael agrees although she knows how much Corinne's word means to her. Corinne then talks about targeting pairs, as Johnathan and Lynsie are together, and so are Dan and Shaun. Using her friendship with Dan, Corinne hopes to use him and Shaun's vote to blindside Johnathan and Lynsie, eliminating one of them. With a laugh, Corinne then says they'll flip on Dan and Shaun and take out one of them in return.

Rachael gives Corinne a hug, and thanks her for giving her a glimmer of hope. Corinne states that they're each others only hope at this point. Rachael tells Corinne that she'll leave the work to her as she's close with Dan, and it'll seem more sincere and less of a last stitch effort than if it came from herself. Corinne then heads back to camp in order to avoid raising suspicion for being gone too long.

Meanwhile, both Johnathan and Lynsie have walked off together in order to fetch some water, and have some private time to talk. The two coincidentally also discuss final two plans, as they both intend to work together until the end, no matter who else they'd have to betray.

I trust Lynsie one hundred percent, and I know she can say the same about me. We've lined ourselves up very nicely in this game, final 4 is in reach. It still amazes me that me, ME, that I have made it this far. The fat kid who couldn't keep up in elementary gym class, is now a final 6 finalist on Survivor.

–Johnathan

(Wearing immunity necklace in confessional) I've come a long way in this game, I couldn't even start fire on day one. I'm trying so hard to remain grounded, because anything can happen. But with this thing around my neck I really don't see how myself or Johnathan could be stopped, and that's coming from a girl with crippling anxiety and paranoia (Laughs)! I'm the same girl I've always been, naive, a tad bit sheltered, but this game is teaching me to look out for myself first and foremost, not those around me. This game may have taught me to fend for myself in a way no one ever else could. I'm 18, I'm about to truly start my adult life, with adult responsibilities. Leaving this game with all of that, is priceless considering how much it'll help me as I grow older.

–Lynsie

Johnathan says that they need to continue having Shaun ration Rachael's food, so she remains weaker than the rest of the tribe. Both very concerned about her winning streak, they have no other choice but to look ahead. Corinne's the easy vote for if Rachael was to win again, but they both know how tight Dan and Shaun are. Lynsie raises the question that perhaps they need to vote out Dan. Johnathan questions, but Lynsie retaliates by stating she knows Shaun's stronger than Dan, but that Dan has a partner in both Corinne and Shaun, and that voting off Dan would cause the biggest effect. Johnathan wants to strike before they can be struck, but worries if they were to turn on Dan, that Corinne and Shaun would team up with Rachael. Lynsie thinks that would be a non issue. Everyone's main concern is Rachael winning her way through to the finale, she says nobody will assist her anymore than they have to.

The game's getting tight, and for the first time I can't make a genuine guess at who will be the next to go. There's so many scenarios, and at this point people start thinking less and less about their allies, and who they could beat in the end. You need to be on your toes, so talking to Lynsie, we're just trying to run through our options.

–Johnathan

Day 31

Reward Challenge

Challenge: Super Golf
The teams would use a three man slingshot to shoot an oversized golf ball along three golf holes. The tribe that put their ball in the hole using the fewest number of shots would receive one point. The first tribe to score two points would win.
Reward: 3 large pizza's delivered to the winners at camp.

Arriving back at camp, it was obvious just by the body language which three were looking forward to their pizza reward, and who had lost. However Lynsie at least musters up a smile, and a "congratulations" for the winners.

Rachael is an unstoppable force. This is her fifth straight challenge win in a row, her fifth!

–Lynsie

The pizza arrives shortly after, delivered by a local dressed up in a delivery boy uniform. Corinne accepts the pizza's from him, and the three sit down to eat. PSSSST, they open a bottle of soda only to have it erupt all over their hands. They pour themselves each a glass, and enjoy each sip.

When you're out here, and you have to boil the water.. it never gets cool again, never. So having a nice, ice cold, carbonated drink after all these days is.. (laughs) well, it's almost orgasmic.

–Dan

I'm not jealous at all. They're ingesting pizza and soda, which is just sugar and greasy garbage. Out here you'd be better off just eating rice than that junk. It wont do them any good, not when their bodies are so malnourished.

–Shaun

Dan's shocked, he's eaten two pieces and he's already full. Corinne's a slice and a half in herself and shares the same feeling of content. Rachael makes it about three slices in before feeling the same. They haven't even finished their first pizza, and they're already full. Against their better judgement, Corinne convinces them to swallow their pride and share with everyone else. They call Johnathan, Lynsie, and Shaun over to indulge as well.

That was most definitely my way of showing that I'm not as greedy as I'm perceived, and I'm actually a loving, caring person (forces a big over the top smile to show her sarcasm)

–Corinne

Later on Corinne joins Dan, who's poking at the fire with a stick out of boredom. She asks him if Rachael was to win immunity, if she'd have something to worry about. Dan remains silent. Corinne forces him to look at her, and says she's not asking from a game perspective, but from a friend to a friend. She then reassures him that she would never let on he had told her. Dan's head stays at level, but his eyes wander down. He confirms her worst fears, that it would likely be her and that he doesn't think there's anything he could do to save her. Corinne asks him to join her for a second, and he follows her out of camp.

Once they're into the woods, Corinne corners Dan with the idea of breaking up Lynsie and Johnathan, as they are a strong pair. Pretending to be oblivious to Dan's friendship with Shaun, she elaborates saying that they'd be the only strong connection left in the game, and that they could easily make it to the finals together. "Well...", Dan says as he ponders the thought. Corinne edges him on, and he agrees that it's an interesting idea. However Dan tells her that if Rachael wins immunity, he's going to have to betray one of his allies regardless, so it's got to be a lot more thought through than just jumping on the first plan to come his way. Taken back by this news, Corinne questions him. She puts emphisis on the friendship and loyalties the two have shared since the beginning.

Corinne's impulsive, so I can't let her think I'm not on her side. Regardless of whether I decide her plan is best for me, she needs to think that I think it is, or else she'll turn on me. It's just a hard decision and I can't make my mind up in two seconds like she wants me to.

–Dan

Dan's worried, as Rachael's immunity track record shows that this is a scenario that's likely to play out, and he doesn't want Corinne to think he's not on her side. So against his better judgement, he agrees to go along with her idea. Immediately her face lights up, and she smiles seemingly from ear to ear. She jumps up and down, and gives Dan a hug. Corinne knows that if she has Dan's vote, then more than likely she'll have Shaun's as well.

Against all odds, I may not have only just saved Rachael's ass, but my own as well. This ladies and gentlemen, to any of you who may be future survivor contestants, is why you do not let those who are on the bottom, know they are on the bottom.

–Corinne

Day 32

Shaun, Corinne, Dan, Rachael, Johnathan, and Lynsie all return to camp. There's a sense of urgency and panic in the air, due to the fact Rachael once again received immunity, and now the Underdog Alliance will have to turn on one of their own members. Corinne specifically has a giant knot in her throat, as she knows she is on the chopping block. A feeling of frustration, anger, and sorrow has overcome her since the challenge, in fear that all this has been for nothing.

On one side, Rachael winning means I should be able to get Dan to help me blindside either Lynsie or Johnathan, on the other hand I know that if Dan doesn't come to my rescue.. I'm gone. (She finishes her sentence with a *gulp*)

–Corinne

Johnathan and Lynsie approach Shaun and Dan and just as quickly as the four came together, they separate. A quick "Corinne", and a nod of a few heads has seemingly just sealed the stay-at-home mothers fate.

Tonight unfortunately we have to turn on one of our own members, and it looks like that person is going to be Corinne. I have Lynsie, Dan and Shaun have one another, it's the easiest way to keep our alliance in tact without creating any waves. Sure Dan is close with Corinne, but ultimately ousting her isn't going to create any animosity within our group.

–Johnathan

Because I'm so close to Corinne, voting her tonight will be extremely difficult. I'm open to changing my vote, but she doesn't have much time to sway me. I want her to, I want her to so badly, I'd much rather play with her than with Johnathan and Lynsie, but I can't afford to play stupid. If she can offer me an actual good deal, I'll run with it. If not, it's lights out for Corinne.

–Dan

Dan pulls Corinne aside, he wants to talk to her about moving forward. This is make it or break it for her.

Dan: Corinne, hun, I need to know right now, what is your plan? They're trying to seal your fate.

Corinne: Tonight, You, Shaun, Rachael, and I vote for Lynsie. BAM! We blindside her, our biggest physical threat aside from Rachael is out of the game, and the idol's gone with her.

Dan: Okay, so you want to blindside Lynsie. Are you one hundred percent sure Rachael's on board? If I'm risking myself like this for you, you got to assure me that we have the numbers!

Corinne: Dan I swear to you! All you need to do is get Shaun on board for me, and I know you can do that. All we need is Shaun, and everything will be okay. Don't let on, don't act strange, if Lynsie plays her idol tonight we're (bleep)ed

(Confused, and visibly worked up) Dan told me he was on board, and just now he came barreling over to me needing reassurance and convincing. I have no idea what the (bleep) is happening right now, but I'm so scared.

–Corinne

With almost no time left before tribal council, Dan finds Shaun on one of the paths heading back from the lake. Dan grabs him by the forearm, and drags him off the path into the bushes. Dan tells him to prepare himself, because he's about to throw a wrench in their plans. With a deep exhale, you could almost see the nerves behind Shaun's eyes at the news. Dan tells him that they need to start playing smart, and not based on their emotions. He explains to Shaun that emotionally, Corinne leaving would be ideal. Strategically however, Lynsie poses a much bigger physical threat and she also possesses the immunity idol necklace. Shaun puts his hand on his own forehead, then brushes it off the top of his head. "Come on, Shaun! This is the smart move!", Dan urges him.

Shaun turns to him with a displeased look, and tells him that he really doesn't believe this would be the best move for either of their games. Dan tries desperately to convince him that it is.

Right now Dan wants me to put my ass on the line to save Corinne. Sure that works for Dan, because Corinne would take him to the finals. Where does that leave me? Dan's clearly starting to play a game similar to hers in the sense that he's more so looking out for himself than his allies. It's frustrating! I might have to take my fate into my own hands tonight and piss a few people off.

–Shaun

Tribal Council

At tribal council Jeff brings up the previous vote in which Stephen was eliminated. He directs it right toward Rachael, who he claims looked like she had just seen a ghost. Rachael laughs and agrees, saying that she was obviously the one other vote for Shaun, and she did not expect the result that was given. Jeff mentions how she once again has immunity, making it six wins in a row. Rachael says she's worried about the target it paints, but it's clear that she's on the outs of the group as it is anyways. Johnathan's asked who that leaves on the outs, and he refuses to give a straight answer saying that it all depends on who fits into your game plan. Corinne interrupts him by raising her and and announcing she's the one in trouble, then tells Johnathan as a mother she hates being lied to. Johnathan says nothing in return. The first two votes are revealed to be for Corinne, another two are revealed to be for Lynsie. Corinne then receives another. The last vote reveals a tie between both Lynsie and Corinne. Dan's head shoots to his left to look at Shaun is disbelief, but Shaun refuses to break eye contact with Jeff. Because of this, Dan fails to see Lynsie staring at him with her jaw on the ground.

Everyone aside from Corinne and Lynsie revotes, when the votes are revealed there is still a tie. Lynsie watches in awe with her head down in hands, and eyes wide. Jeff announces that due to the second tie, rules state that they will be forced to draw rocks. "Oh my god...", Johnathan lets out. Corinne and Lynsie are now safe, and so is Rachael due to her immunity win. Dan, Shaun, and Johnathan are all asked to reach into a bag and pick a rock, they are instructed to keep their hands closed. Two have grabbed white rocks, while another has picked a purple. The holder of the purple rock will be eliminated from the game. It's now time to reveal.

Shaun reveals a white rock, while Johnathan shows he had possession of the purple rock, thus ending his game. Upon seeing what he had in his hand, he lets out a long sigh, closes his eyes, and bows his head. He stands to get his torch, and is ambushed by a hug from Lynsie, who by this point is in tears. She tells him she'll miss him, and thanks him for everything. Johnathan grabs his torch and has it snuffed by Jeff. "Bye guys", with a wave and a smile Johnathan leaves the game.

Voting Confessionals

Corinne, you become more and more of a pain each day. I wish you the best of luck, but I'm not sad I wont have to live with you anymore.

–Lynsie

I'm sorry, this is just strategic. You've been great to me this entire experience, and I hope nyou can look passed this.

–Johnathan

I'm making the move that I feel will further myself the most, I'm sorry. Best of luck to you in the outside world.

Final Words

What can I say? Corinne out played me! I don't know how, but she did! I can't even be mad, I've had such a blast. This has been an amazing adventure, and I'm blessed to have made the final 6. I never in a million kajillion years would have thought I'd be standing here. I loved every minute of it, and I'm excited to have a say in who wins. Best of luck to all of them, they're going to need it!
