Lady Luck is the ninth episode of Survivor: Belize - Battle of the Seasons.

Previously on Survivor...[]

After Twila was voted out Sarge realized he was on the outside of a new alliance on Otono. Meanwhile, the Otono four pledged to stick together to the end. Rafe solidified his bonds with Corinne and Joel, while Marcus worked on keeping Sarge loyal. In an intense confrontation, Marcus attempted to sway Sarge into sticking with their original group, but after the breaking of a handshake, Sarge was much more hesitant. Meanwhile, at Hidera the four put aside their conflicts from the previous round, hoping to rally together should a merge come around. On Day 23, the tribes finally merged, forming the new Epoca tribe, wearing black. Right away, Marcus and Joel promised Sarge a final 3 deal in a last ditch effort to keep Sarge loyal. Meanwhile, old tribemates Rafe and Cindy compared notes on their tribes, vowing not to go after each other, and to try and convince their new alliances from doing the same. After getting to know each other Ken and Colleen swore to one another they would help eliminate the other's biggest rival - Marcus first, followed by Joel. When the Hidera 4 met to discuss their plan they agreed on Marcus as there first target, and Julie would work on bringing Sarge into the fold. Realizing the graveness of their situation Marcus and Corinne decided to target Kenny, hoping Sarge would finally come around. The next morning, Julie and Sarge came together once again, sharing a similar target in Marcus and a desire to be in the majority. On the other hand, Joel and Colleen had different ideas in mind, distancing Colleen even further from Joel. At the immunity challenge, Marcus held on for dear life, but it wasn't enough as Julie won the first individual immunity challenge. Back at camp, Marcus scrambled to keep himself alive, begging Sarge and asking Rafe to do the same with Cindy. In the end, Rafe and Cindy decided to keep with their own alliance for the time being, and Marcus was voted out. 8 Castaways are left, who will be voted out tonight?

Challenges[]

Reward Challenge: Double Play
The castaways will compete in an two-round, double-elimination obstacle course in four teams of two. The two leading teams will go to the final round. First pair to finish wins.
Reward: A movie night-out, with an eat-all-you can feast
Winner: Cindy Hall & Rafe Judkins

Immunity Challenge: Fun Climb
The castaways would maneuver a buoy through a rope maze to a post. They would then untie a series of knots to release a key. The released key would open a chest that contained a set of ladder rung puzzle pieces. The first castaway to assemble their ladder and climb to the top of the tower would win.
Winner: Rafe Judkins

Story[]

Day 25[]

Sarge Masters woke at the crack of dawn as he usually would. That was the way he operated not just on the island, but in real life. Everything Sarge did he worked from the minute the sun rose till the minute it set whether it was Day 1, Day 39 or any day in between that's just how Sarge operated.

Last night he had made a big decision. Marcus had taken advantage of his loyalty over at Otono, and Sarge was not going to let Marcus do that again. He had to take action, and with his old friend Julie at his side, Sarge was confident he had made the right decision. He had a new home, a new alliance, and a whole new game ahead of him.

Sarge's decision was confirmed when he was Cindy Hall carrying a load of fire wood into camp as he rose from the shelter and began working.

The sun had just come up, and Cindy had been up long before.

"Well I'll be damned," Sarge whispered to himself.

Being a Drill Sergeant I'm certainly used to working hard, but it was a real shock to see this young lady, workin her tail off before me, the old man got to working. This game never ceases to surprise me...ever!

–Sarge Masters

"Good morning," Cindy said with a chipper smile on her face.

"Well good morning there, m'am," Sarge said politely nodding. "You sure have been working hard!"

"Well somebody has to," Cindy said grinning.

"These kids are lucky to have us," Sarge said jokingly.

"Oh, I'm sure they know," Cindy said reciprocating a smile.

Sarge is hard worker. I think he respects that I'm the same way he is. I don't stop until the job is done. When things need taken care of, we are the ones that do it. I have his respect and he has mine, that can go a long way in this game.

–Cindy Hall

"Thank you for sticking with us last night," Cindy said grinning.

"Wouldn't have it any other way," Sarge declared.

"Now you get to sit back and watch all those people that turned on you scramble to stay alive," Cindy said smiling.

"The morning is young, I can't imagine what's gonna happen when Corinne drags her ass out of bed," Sarge said shaking his head.

Cindy grimaced.

"Hopefully we won't be around for that," Cindy said, adding a few small longs to the fire. "Oh I'm sure she'll make sure we are here to hear it," Sarge added.

The thought of Corinne Kaplan set the fear of God into most of the castaways. They knew how angry and bitter she could be. Now at the merge, knowing she would be a juror at the least and quite an unpleasant visitor for as long as she remained in the game. It was going to be hard to appease her now that she was on the outs for the first time, but Sarge remained optimistic.

Corinne and her little minions are going to be very upset with the path I chose. But if I cared about a damn word Corinne said, I'd be following her around like Rafe and Joel all the live long day.

–Sarge Masters

"I like you, I'm glad you're on my side," Cindy said.

"Likewise," Sarge said.

The two smiled and began getting back to their work.

They were both no-nonsense kind of people. Neither of them were huge on talking, but were more action based. They had proved their loyalty to one another and had nothing left to say. Actions would justify their motives in the end.

CRUNCH.

The sound of feet breaking several twigs beneath the shelter caused both Cindy and Sarge to flinch. The peaceful Belizian morning they had come to know, seemed like it was about to end. Must to their relief, Julie Berry was the one responsible for the disruption.

Cindy exhaled.

"Boy, I'm glad it's you!" Sarge said.

"Who'd ya think it was?" Julie said playfully with a wink.

"Morning Jules," Sarge said sheepishly.

"How ya doing Sarge?" She asked.

"I'm feeling real good," Sarge said with a grin.

"I knew you would," Julie said with a grin and a giggle.

"So we're solid?" Sarge asked.

"Oh, without a doubt," Cindy said confidently.

"In a perfect world, this is what Day 38 would look like," Julie said smiling.

"We have 3..." Cindy said.

"Y'all wanna do this?" Sarge asked.

"Final 3?" Julie proposed.

"I'm in," Cindy said.

"As am I," Sarge added.

The three shook hands with one another quickly, then took a seat by the fire to prepare breakfast.

"Not a word to anyone," Julie said, putting her mouth over her lips.

"Secret, secret," Sarge said nodding in agreement.

Last night my alliance secured the majority. So as long as there are no bumps in the road - knock on wood! Our group should be the final 5, but this game doesn't end at 5, it ends when there is one person left standing and I wanna be the Sole Survivor this time. So, I'm going to make as many deals as I need to make to further my own game.So if it's Sarge, Cindy and myself in the end, brilliant, just what I wanted, but as long as I'm there it doesn't matter who is with me!

–Julie Berry

A few days ago, there was a price tag on my forehead. I thought I'd be fighting just to stay alive, but now I'm positioning myself for the end game here. We still got some ways to go, but I plan to be here for the end this time.

–Sarge Masters

I feel real confident about the bonds I've created with Julie and Sarge. Going deep into the game with them is exactly what I plan on doing, but at the same time I have to be a bit nervous about the fact that they have such a close relationship with one another too. Which makes me think I gotta have someone else on my side if I wanna make sure I'm here all the way through.

–Cindy Hall

The three sat around the fire talking. Others began emerging from the shelter waiting for breakfast to be served, until only one woman had yet to emerge from the shelter.

Corinne Kaplan finally emerged from the shelter, she shot an eye roll toward her tribe who was seated around the fire.

She tossed her head to the left, running her fingers through her tangled curly hair and began plucking out the knots as her tribe cautiously looked away to avoid her stares. Eventually, she put her hair, back up into her typical ponytail and walked over several people seated by the fire to take her spot next to Rafe.

She placed her hand on her chin and stared into the fire vehemently, as if to avoid going off on everyone around her.

Corinne is just scary! I mean you look at her and she just has this intense stare and these piercing eyes that just jump out at you! She's angry...well she's always angry, but now she's really angry! So we're all walking around egg shells around her. Yikes!

–Colleen Haskell

The morning is always the worst part of being here, but what's even worse is the morning after everyone you absolutely despise decides to vote out the one sane, intelligent, likable person on your tribe! It's just infuriating. Now these people are gonna sit around here all proud of being smart enough to take Marcus out. Congratulations, I'm sure you really struggled with that decision. I'm sure it's really difficult to accept you aren't the best player here. So I'm going to give them hell. Not verbally until I have to, but I'm fighting back this time. I'm not laying down now that Marcus is gone, this is not a Gabon redux.

–Corinne Kaplan

"Good morning," Corinne said happily, putting on her big fake grin.

She was curious to see who would try and mess with her after they took out her closest ally. Who was playing to win? Who was just going to cave? and who was scared out of her mind. She saw Colleen with her head and her lap, unable to even look Corinne's direction.

Corinne rolled her eyes, typical.

Corinne sat there waiting for a response, from someone, anyone.

"Hey, Corinne, how'd you sleep?" Joel asked.

"Just divine, how about you?" Corinne asked.

"Like a baby," Joel said.

"It's that just wonderful. A great night was had by all last night, some people got there way at the vote, some of us got to sleep well, we're all just equals here!" Corinne said sarcastically.

Joel stifled his laughter.

Rafe grimaced looking away.

"Well, y'know, I guess we all don't get the chance to flip on our old alliances huh?" Joel asked.

"Only those of us starving for attention," Corinne said rolling her eyes.

"Well clearly we have a lot of hungry people," Joel said adding to the conversation.

This morning, I was just plain irritated. You know? I'm tired of being on the bottom. I've done nothing wrong, nothing! I worked hard to keep Colleen here, I was civil to everyone on Otono and these new people, but I think this morning Corinne and myself realized we're so done with that. If being nice and putting on a good show for everyone is gonna get us kicked off too, why just lay down and die? Let's create some trouble while we are out here.

–Joel Klug

"So uh...what do you think Marcus is doing right now?" Kenny asked smugly. Colleen giggled.

Corinne pretended as if she didn't hear it.

"If I were Marcus, I'd be eating a ton and hitting the gym, remind all those kids still in the game how much more attractive and successful I am in real life," Corinne said.

"Survivor: Belize - Revenge of the Nerds, that's what this is," Joel said shaking his head. Everyone aside from Joel and Corinne began awkwardly avoiding one another's eye contact. Nobody wanted to engage them. Both of them were a ticking time bomb.

"I think I'm gonna go see if I can find a few coconuts for us to enjoy while the rice is boiling," Rafe said, trying desperately to escape the awkward situation.

"Mind if I join you?" Cindy asked eagerly.

"Sure," Rafe said, motioning for her to join him.

When both my closest allies started spouting off around the fire, my immediate reaction was I need to get out of there, literally and figuratively. If I wanna stick around here, I can't align myself with two loose cannons who are making everyone around camp uncomfortable, I'm not going to be able to distance myself from them if I don't do it now.

–Rafe Judkins

"Wow!" Rafe said, shaking his head sparatically as soon as they got far enough away from camp.

Cindy started laughing uncontrollably.

"There goes your alliance, Rafe!" Cindy said.

"Don't remind me," Rafe said shaking his head.

"We're still good, right?" Rafe asked.

"Solid," Cindy said reassuringly.

"Alright good, cause I'm going to need your help, soon I'm sure," Rafe said cautiously. "I got your back," Cindy said smiling.

Right now I hold all the cards in my hands. Rafe is in a pretty bad spot, and I'm the one he needs to rely on to help further his game. Me! That's a lot of control I have, and I gotta make the most of it, the more people here who trust me, the better my game is!

–Cindy Hall

It is a bit scary to have to put so much of my trust and fate in this game in Cindy's hands, it's never good to have to rely on someone else to further your own game, but I think it's as beneficial to her as it is to me to have me in the game, so all I can do is hope.

–Rafe Judkins

The two stumbled across a few coconuts scattered along the ground. They began shaking them trying to see if they were ripe enough to be consumed as they continued their discussion. "There's a lot of talk going on around here, buddy!" Cindy said.

"Oh yeah?" Rafe said, "like what?"

"Julie and Sarge want me to go to three with 'em," Cindy said..."Don't say anything," she added.

"Of course not," Rafe said. "And they really think you're gonna do it?"

"I guess so," Cindy said. "But no way I'm putting myself in that spot."

"That's why we gotta stick together," Rafe said smiling.

"You don't have to tell me twice," Cindy added.

Rafe is crucial in my alliance. Everyone else in my alliance has someone looking out for them except for me. Julie's a strong player, but she has Sarge. Ken has Colleen and vice versa. Rafe and I have to look out for each other at this point, or neither of us are getting anywhere close to the end.

–Cindy Hall

"We got this," Cindy said, giving Rafe a high five as they began walking toward camp with the few ripe coconuts they had collected.

When they got back to camp, Rafe and Cindy found two small bowls of rice waiting for them. They dropped the coconuts off right by the seating area around the fire and began digging into their rice.

Ken looked to Colleen and vice versa.

Picking up on his body language, Colleen took the next logical step.

"We can chop open those coconuts while you two eat," Colleen offered sweetly. "Thanks a bunch," Rafe said grinning.

"No problem," Ken said with a faint smile.

Corinne and Joel had retreated back to the shelter as Ken and Colleen moved the coconuts slightly further back and began slowly chopping away at the shell's harder edge waiting for the chatter to pick up a bit.

"Isn't it weird how Cindy told us that her and Rafe were gonna do their own thing, but the constantly go off together?" Ken asked.

"And it's certainly not like Joel and I...she has no problem with it you know?" Colleen said. "She initiated that little meeting with the coconuts this morning." Ken observed. "You think she's flipping?" Colleen asked nervously.

"That wouldn't make sense...not yet anyways, but she's doing something, that's for sure," Ken said.

"Oh god," Colleen said frustrated. "More mind games."

"Sweetheart, we're just getting started with the mind games," Ken said laughing.

"I don't think I'm in Borneo anymore," Colleen joked.

"We just gotta be careful," Ken said.

The two got up and brought the coconuts over to the group. Ken was even nice enough to bring one over to Joel and Corinne for them to enjoy in private.

I think Cindy's relationship with Rafe has certainly been increasing the longer we've been here. The whole point in our alliance was we were the outcasts of our original tribe, and we were gonna work to get rid of the people who tried to get rid of us. We got rid of her rivals Amy and Gary, now it's her time to do the same for us. If she doesn't we may have to reconsider our game plan.

–Ken Hoang

I really don't know if people here are just really deceptive or really wishy washy, because everyone seems to be making all these deals. Like, do you not know who you wanna go to the end with? Or are you so desperate to stay you'll make all these deals with all these people just to screw them over if it gets you three days ahead? That's not smart, that's not how you earn respect. My one and only true ally and friend in this game is Kenny, and that's how I want to keep it.

–Colleen Haskell

Meanwhile, back in the shelter as the rest of the Epoca tribe went about the work of the day, Corinne and Joel decided to spend a quiet afternoon in the shelter. There was no need to exhaust themselves. They knew it would be do or die for them in the challenges, so why bother with the arbitrary "work hard" attitude.

"I want to beat these losers so bad, so so so bad," Corinne articulated. "I just can't lose to people like this again, that'd be totally embarassing."

"Losing to Colleen twice...heh," Joel spat.

"Yeah good luck coping with that," Corinne said playfully rolling her eyes.

"Well at least I didn't get outplayed by her boyfriend," Joel snarked.

"Ew," Colleen said scrunching her face.

"I really hope that they think this whole romance thing through, I mean if those two reproduce, just think of how rough that kid's life is gonna be. He's gonna look awful, any brains he might have gotten from Kenny will be phased out with Colleen's general 'quirkiness' and he sure as hell isn't getting any action in high school," Corinne rolled her eyes.

"The apple won't fall far from the tree," Joel added.

"Hey guys," Rafe said, stopping by the shelter after his water run. "What's up?"

Despite his reservations with his allies, Rafe knew he had to keep up with them. He couldn't just totally abandon them. he'd look completely disloyal. It was all a balancing act, staying close with Cindy while making sure his ties with Corinne and Joel were solid, just in case.

"We're just enjoying our last few days in the gorgeous shelter, Sarge was nice enough to build for just the three of us," Corinne said relaxing.

"Oh yeah?" Rafe said, surprised.

"It's all for us man," Joel said.

"I guess I'll join you for a little while," Rafe said.

Corinne smiled.

I adore Rafe. He tries so hard to be in the know about everything. He's still scrambling out there in the hot summer sun, trying to be friendly with the ex-Hidera's hoping he can somehow get back in the game, I love him. But at the same time, I've been here before, playing nice isn't going to keep me here any longer. I can win or I can shake things up, that's it. I'm not gonna play nice with these people though, no chance in hell.

–Corinne Kaplan

"What are we gonna do Rafe?" Corinne asked.

"We gotta think of something," Joel said putting his hand on his Rafe's shoulder. "Well...where are the cracks, that's what I'm trying to find out." Rafe said. "How about that Cindy? Will she work with us?" Corinne asked.

"Cindy won't even flip to help me, let alone you guys," Rafe said nervously laughing. "I guess time will tell," Rafe said, laying down.

I can barely keep myself in the game at this point. I'm back to my old selfish ways I guess. I love Corinne and Joel is my best buddy, but I can't risk a million dollars for friendship, not again!

–Cindy Hall

Meanwhile, the Hidera 4, now 5 were all out by the beach. Now was the perfect time for a meeting.

"Hey you guys, do we wanna talk while the three of them are all up there chilling?" Julie asked, laying the groundwork for the meeting about to take place.

Right now we have the numbers, which is awesome, we don't really have to worry about certain things, but it's best not to be cocky. We don't want to be having meetings right in front of the other three, it comes off as arrogant. Right now, I think I'm sort of in the driver's seat, so I don't want to send the Joel's and Corinne's of the game to the jury remembering that I was some cocky bitch that rubbed my game in their face.

–Julie Berry

"So what's everybody thinking?" Sarge asked, leading the discussion.

"Well I know I'd love to see Corinne out ASAP!" Julie said.

"I completely agree, let's not reward her behavior out here," Sarge said firmly.

"I'm fine with voting Corinne, Kenny, how bout you?"

"I was thinking Rafe," Ken said.

"Rafe?" Cindy asked confused.

"I thought we already decided it was Joel?" Colleen said confused.

"Well the thing is, Rafe is obviously the leader, and the most level headed. If we blindside Rafe at the next Tribal Council, we can stomp over Corinne and Joel," Ken said.

"But Rafe has been nothing but respectful. I know he's a threat, but if this alliance is solid, we should have no problem with keeping him a few extra days, right?" Sarge said. "I agree," Cindy said, followed by Julie.

"You guys said it would be Marcus first, then Joel next. The immunity threats, remember?" Colleen asked.

"I think we all are making valid points," Julie said, attempting to mediate.

"So what do you think Julie?" Ken asked.

"It doesn't matter to me either way, whatever we decide I'm willing to do," Julie said taking a step back.

Julie is really perceptive. She begins by leading a conversation about who to get rid of, but when disagreements begin, she just becomes neutral and starts patching up the wounds. She lets the conflict rise, but stays out of it. She's a really strong player, someone I need to watch out for.

–Ken Hoang

"Let's just make camp a bit more peaceful these last few days, take Corinne out, then we can deal with the guys," Sarge said.

"Sarge saved all of us last night," Cindy said boldly. "I think it would bode well for the four of us to show some respect and vote alongside him."

Ken looked to Colleen. What he had speculated this morning seemed to be completely accurate, the question was, how many of them were in on it?

"Are you two absolutely opposed to voting out Corinne next?" Julie asked politely. "No, but if she wins immunity, I would really appreciate it if Joel went, since that was what was agreed upon before," Colleen said vehemently.

"Absolutely," Julie said smiling.

"And to compromise, Kenny, Rafe will go after the next tribal, 100%," Julie said grinning. "Works for me," Ken said.

The five disbanded and began going about their jobs for the rest of their day.

Ken and Colleen began heading back to camp as dusk began to settle.

"Once again, nobody listens to Ken & Colleen," Colleen jested.

"I told you, I told you she had a deal with him, she was working so hard to keep us from targeting him," Ken said excitedly.

"Sarge and Julie were quick to back her up too," Colleen added.

"Think they're all in on it?" Ken asked.

"I wouldn't be surprised," Colleen said.

So once again my alliance refuses to hear me out, nor Ken. Joel and Rafe are the competitors here. Joel is a beast physically and Rafe is a beast strategically, but we have to get rid of Corinne? Cause she's mean? Seriously? I'm tired of having no say in this alliance. So, if they don't want to listen to Ken and I, I'm sure there are people who will.

–Colleen Haskell

Things should be falling into place. We should be feeling secure, we have the numbers, the advantage, everything! But right when you should feel comfortable is usually when you shouldn't and that's today. Cindy is working super hard to cover Rafe's tail, which means she plans to use him at some point. She hasn't said anything to Colleen & I about this plan which leads me to believe we are likely going to be the victims of it. Well, not if I can do anything about it.

–Ken Hoang

Day 26[]

Corinne Kaplan and Rafe Judkins went to check treemail together. The feeling brought back the nostalgia of the times on the ex Otono tribe when Rafe would approach Corinne in the hope that she could potentially spare him another round, and now both of them looked to be on the hot seat, so any reward would be of value to both of them.

"I'm excited to get a reward today, mostly to keep it away from everyone else," Corinne sneered.

"Aren't you feisty?" Rafe said giggling.

"You don't mess with Marcus, I'll cut these bitches up," Corinne said bitterly.

"I'll try and stay out of your way then," Rafe said, still chuckling.

"Oh please do," Corinne said.

"So seriously, are you just gonna put up this big front until you inevitably get voted off for just going against these guys so hard?" Rafe asked.

"I mean, I'd love to shake up the game Rafe, but really how am I gonna do that? Ken and Colleen look at me like I'm a walking STD, Sarge is a textbook midlife crisis, Julie has this game on lock down, and Cindy won't even help you. What am I supposed to do?" Corinne said frustrated.

"Hope," Rafe smiled.

"Yeah, I already played with her," Corinne said snarkily.

Rafe rolled his eyes. "You know what I mean," Rafe said smiling.

"I am hoping. But until that does something, I'll just be sitting here waiting to do something, anything, whatever, if you have a plan, I'll jump on it," Corinne said. "Good to know," Rafe said slyly.

"What the hell are you thinking?" Corinne said, catching on.

"Nothing, nothing, honestly," Rafe said putting his hands up.

"Don't screw me Rafe, or I will come back at you ten times harder," Corinne said defensively. "I'm not, I'm not, don't worry about it," Rafe said.

"I guess I'll join you for a little while," Rafe said.

Corinne smiled.

I adore Rafe. He tries so hard to be in the know about everything. "I wouldn't be surprised," Colleen said.

At this point I have two things I'm relying on: Rafe and immunity. I need at least one to help me out if I want to stay. I don't and can't make any progress with these losers. My best bet is to just step aside, mock them from afar and just hope someone, somewhere is willing to pull me back in. Then I'll be ready to play.

–Corinne Kaplan

Corinne and Joel don't really have as much invested in the game as I do. I will do everything I can to stay here. I will fight tooth and nail to the bitter end to try and make sure I take home that money. There's nothing worse than coming so close last time and just missing out on the win. This time I want it, I want it bad and I'll do whatever it takes to get there.

–Rafe Judkins

The two walked back to camp, where they read treemail aloud to the rest of the group. The remaining eight competitors walked out where they saw a gigantic obstacle course waiting for them at the starting line.

The castaways would be broken up into pairs and one pair would square off against another to complete the obstacle course in the fastest time. That group would move on to the final round to face the other winning team.

The winning team would be treated to a "Night at the Movies" reward, with popcorn, hot dogs, candy, soft drinks, pretzels and all the fixings along with a private screening of the new film, "The Neighbors," staring Zac Efron.

In the spirit of having two tribe members from every season left in the game, the pairs would be based on the castaway's original season.

The first heat featured Julie and Sarge against Rafe and Cindy.

"SURVIVOR'S READY? GO!"

All four castaways began sprinting toward the first obstacle, with Rafe and Cindy having a slight lead.

Both groups made their way under the belly crawl easily and moved on to the rope swing. Rafe struggled to get across, giving Julie and Sarge an advantage as they ran to the pool. Julie and Sarge maintained a slight lead until they reached the wall. Julie was lifted up and over, but Sarge struggled to get his weight up. Meanwhile, Rafe and Cindy had caught up Cindy got to the top of the wall and was able to pull Rafe over due to his light weight. The two sprinted to the finish giving them a spot in the finals.

Next, Joel and Colleen squared off against Corinne and Ken.

Joel darted ahead of the competition, waiting for Colleen at every obstacle. Corinne stayed ahead of Ken leading him through. The groups were fairly neck and neck throughout the entire course. At the wall Joel hoisted himself over, as did Corinne. In a close finish both groups began sprinting toward the finish as Joel and Colleen just beat out Ken & Corinne for the win.

In the final round - this was for reward!

SURVIVORS READY? GO!

Both groups sprinted out, Joel ahead with Rafe and Cindy behind as Colleen trailed. Rafe tried to keep his composure on the rope bridge, but Colleen managed to make up ground leaving the teams even, both got through the pool and obstacles until they reached the wall as Joel and Cindy did the same thing they did again, though both a bit weaker. As Rafe and Colleen were both chucked over the wall, they quickly got up and began to sprint, Colleen was slightly ahead of Cindy and Rafe, but they were picking up steam fast. Joel crossed the finish line first screaming for Colleen to hurry as Cindy and Rafe were just a half step behind, but it was too late...Rafe and Cindy had already passed her.

"RAFE AND CINDY WIN REWARD!" Probst yelled.

The two former tribemates and Guatemala members jumped up and down eagerly.

"I can't believe it!" Cindy said excited.

"As for the rest of you, I got nothing for ya...head back to camp! I'll see you tomorrow!" The remaining six members of Epoca walked back to Tribal Council defeated. There would be no movie or feast for them, but there would be a whole lot of strategy being served up to them this afternoon.

Rafe Judkins and Cindy Hall walked down the path toward the Survivor movie theatre in a celebratory fashion, elated to be enjoying a movie and one another's company for the day. "Guatemala representing!" Cindy said cheerfully.

"We so had that," Rafe said giggling.

For years, nobody from Guatemala had ever come back to Survivor. We were kind of the black sheep of the Survivor family. So Cindy and I coming out here and just crushing it strategically and physically in this game, is something we both can be really proud of. We're showing everyone what our season is made of and what they've been missing, because we are going all out!

–Rafe Judkins

When the two arrived they immediately ran to the Survivor Snack Shack, stuffing their face and bags with popcorn, candy, pretzels and hot dogs.

"It's so good," Cindy said with her mouth half full of food.

"I know," Rafe said with a mouth full of popcorn.

Silence. There was silence.

Chew, Crunch, Sip, Munch.

24 Days of starvation has taken it's toll.

After they had the initial 'stuffing of their face' moment. Cindy looked to Rafe.

"Ok, so Ken and Colleen are starting to come after you, bust mostly Ken," Cindy said taking a sip of her soda.

"Really?" Rafe asked.

Cindy nodded.

"So is the rest of your crew on board?" Rafe asked nervously.

Cindy shook her head no.

"They want Corinne gone, like yesterday," Cindy said. "But we gotta be careful, cause they are gonna come after you soon."

"If we don't do something," Rafe said picking up on her plan.

"Exactly!" Cindy said.

"Are you thinking what I'm thinking?" Rafe asked.

"Guatemala/Vanuatu tag team - us 4 all the way to the end, Corinne goes tomorrow, and we have the majority!" Cindy said grinning.

"I'm all in!" Rafe said.

I need Rafe around in the endgame, I need someone who wants to take me to the end and vice versa. I don't have that in my current alliance. Rafe is my security blanket, so for now, This is the route I have to go.

–Cindy Hall

Getting Cindy's blessing to join her alliance, so to speak, is only the first step to furthering my game. Once I'm in, I gotta stay there, build new relationships. I'm starting from the bottom, but I'm gonna work my way to the top!

–Rafe Judkins

The two sat back, relaxed and enjoyed their movie and their evening...which was something the other six would not have the luxury of doing.

Back at camp, Ken Hoang and Colleen Haskell had decided to go for a walk on the beach. Ken had big plans for their future in the game and wanted to run it by his closest ally.

Rewards equate to game talk...Cindy and Rafe are going to be talking serious game right now, the more time they have to talk, the more he can integrate himself in our group, so we gotta stop that somehow.

–Ken Hoang

"Ok, I wanna throw out an idea, I want you to tell me what you think," Ken said, preparing his buddy Colleen for his latest plan.

"You're scaring me," Colleen said nervously.

"How solid are you feeling with our 5?" Ken asked.

"What the hell are you going to do?" Colleen asked.

"You, me, Joel and Corinne...we vote for Julie, they bring in Rafe, or try to anyways, and we turn this game around," Ken said.

"A tie!? Your master plan is a tie?" Colleen asked shocked.

"If we don't make this move Sarge, Julie, Rafe and Cindy are going to stomp all over this game," Ken said bluntly.

"I know...but that's such a big risk," Colleen said exhaling.

"So?" Ken asked.

"Tell me I'm not going to regret this," Colleen said nervously.

"You're not going to regret this, if we're in the top 2," Ken said.

"Wow way to really reassure me," Colleen said giggling.

"I need your help to get Joel on board," Ken said calmly.

"Bring it on," Colleen said.

People are starting to play the game with their own agendas, so Kenny and I need to start making our own. We aren't going to get to the end with Sarge, Julie and Cindy who are all best friends. We are on the outs, so we're going to change that by taking control...or just being even more on the outs! Fingers crossed!

–Colleen Haskell

It's time to take control. I've been sitting in the background for too long. Now is my time, they don't see it coming. Julie is my biggest threat, if I can take her out and subdue Rafe, I'm paving my path to the end. This is my one shot!

–Ken Hoang

Ken Hoang and Colleen Haskell walked toward the shelter which Joel and Colleen had occupied for the past several days to pitch their case. They would have to be delicate in order to get them to go along with this.

"Hey guys, mind if we join you?" Colleen said sweetly.

"Tone it down," Ken whispered.

"What's up?" Corinne said, looking puzzled.

"Nothing, just sorta tired," Ken said, taking a seat next to Joel.

"Take a load off man, we're just enjoying our last few days here," Joel said.

"It doesn't have to be your last few days here," Colleen said with a grin.

"Doesn't it?" Corinne asked.

"Nope," Ken said.

"Spill," Joel said.

"The four of us, and Rafe final 5, tomorrow we blindside Julie. That simple," Ken said. "You're not bullshitting me this time?" Joel asked.

"I swear, Joel," Colleen said honestly.

Joel shook his head in disbelief.

"You came to me last time, now I'm coming to you...we both need to do this, because they are dominating the game, and we have to take them out," Colleen said firmly.

"Well I'll do anything to save my ass," Joel agreed.

Corinne nodded, but squinted skeptically.

"Why are you doing this?" Corinne asked.

"We think someone is playing both sides," Ken said honestly.

"Who?" Corinne asked.

"Rafe," Colleen blurted out.

"Then why would he vote with us?" Corinne asked.

"He's gotta vote for someone," Ken said.

"If you can get him on our side, and he proves he's loyal to you, that's all we could ask for," Colleen said.

"Is he really with you? Why not force his hand and see? What do you have to lose? You were going to go home anyway," Ken added.

"You can sit in the shelter and mope, or you can make a move like we're doing," Colleen said. Joel exhaled.

"Damn guys,"

Rafe has got a lot of connections on this tribe that's no secret. I don't wanna hurt my buddy at all, but dammit I wanna stay in the game, if he wants to stick with us great, but if not I gotta keep myself alive, I'm playing for me and not Rafe.

–Joel Klug

I'm playing this game for myself, so any plan to save me I am all for! But I don't trust Ken. Ken will say and do anything to get one step ahead, I don't know what he's trying to pull, if he's trying to pull anything at all. I just don't have a good feeling about this. I'm not letting my guard down, I've worked too damn hard to get this far to have Kenny build me up then take me out.

–Corinne Kaplan

Right now we have four, so the ball is in Rafe's court. Will he sacrifice his sub alliance to save his allies? Or will he chicken out and screw over his friends? Not the best spot for the Survivor master, is it?

–Ken Hoang

Nightfall came upon the Epoca tribe as Rafe and Cindy returned from the movies, bellies full and minds back in the game.

"How was the movie?" Joel asked.

"Was Zac Efron Totally hot?" Colleen squealed.

"Yes," Cindy said.

"And YES!" Rafe added.

"Rafe, I love you," Corinne said.

The two gave them a rundown of the film and shared a few candies with the group. The remaining six gobbled their share of gummy candy, then retired to bed. Julie and Sarge waited up as Cindy grabbed Julie's leg and looked at her, signaling the time for a talk. The four sat around the fire, waiting for the last few tribe mates to fall asleep. When the coast seemed clear, the four began discussing what Cindy and Rafe had proposed at the reward challenge.

"So Rafe and I were talking at the movie theatre and we came to the idea that it would be in all of our best interests for the four of us to work together. Take out Corinne next, then the four of us run the table," Cindy said smiling.

"Well Rafe, we barely know you, Cindy says good things, but let's hear it from you," Julie said grinning.

"Guys, I played a straight up game my first time. Cindy and I have been tight from the get go like you two and I want nothing more than to help get to the end again, and if you guys give me your word I will do the same for you, you have my honest word," Rafe pleaded. "I will hold you to that," Sarge said pointing at him.

"I expect you to," Rafe said.

"We're a no nonsense group Rafe. Don't screw us over!" Julie said.

"Absolutely," Rafe said.

"Would you be willing to vote with us tomorrow...prove your loyalty?" Julie asked.

"Well, I wouldn't wanna give away that I'm working with you guys," Rafe lied.

"Well, if we are the final four, it shouldn't matter, should it?" Julie said.

"No, you are totally right. It's just hard to vote out friends, you all know that, I will do it though," Rafe promised.

"Then we have a deal," Julie said smiling.

"Put 'er there," Sarge said extending his hand.

Sarge and Rafe shook on it.

"Look at us guys, Vanuatu and Guatemala all the way!" Cindy said laughing.

Adding Rafe to our threesome is just another alliance that can help get me to the end. He seems to be good on his word, I have no reason to distrust him, but he certainly won't get away with not proving his loyalty to us. I'm not as dumb as I look.

–Julie Berry

I have been burned on the handshake once before this season, and I can't let it happen again. Rafe better be good to his word, I won't take another broken handshake lightly. He saw what happened the first time.

–Sarge Masters

The four Epoca members were all in on their deal...but little did they know someone else was in on it too...

Busted!

–Corinne Kaplan

Day 27[]

Corinne Kaplan woke up the next morning, ready to get answers. First she walked over to Joel and shook him awake.

"Get the f*** up right now, we have a lot of talking to do right now, go grab Rafe and meet me at treemail right now," Corinne said bluntly.

Rafe has some major explaining to do! When I have to hear about my friend and ally stabbing me in the back from Kenny and giggles of all people!? Disgraceful. I'm not going out like that no way. Rafe is going to know exactly what I think!

–Corinne Kaplan

Joel stumbled to his feet and went to retrieve Rafe as Corinne stomped over to treemail. "Why does she look even angrier than usual?" Colleen whispered. "I say we go find out," Ken said.

The two walked on a path adjacent to the one Corinne had taken and knelt down in some bushes close to where she was standing. Silent, stoic, if they would get busted they would both be so dead.

Joel and Rafe eventually arrived at Tree Mail, but the Immunity Challenge was the least of her worries at this point.

"I can't believe you f***ing crossed me, after I kept you alive all throughout Otono, and Joel too! We voted out Twila, and Marcus paid for it, and you had the nerve to repay me with a knife in my back Rafe. To work with Cindy!? and Julie!? I thought Cindy wasn't willing to help you? Cause last night she sure seemed eager to have you in HER alliance. You were going to hang us out to dry Rafe, I cannot believe you did that. Just unbelievable," Corinne spat angrily.

Colleen's mouth dropped in shock.

Ken put his finger to his face and shushed her.

"Woah dude, seriously?" Joel said taken back.

Rafe looked down embarassed.

"Explain Rafe," Corinne said, arms crossed.

"You were gonna have to explain it eventually, you big Survivor master."

"You of all people man, I can't believe it," Joel said shaking his head.

"If I win Immunity tonight, it's your ass going home tonight Joel," Corinne said.

Joel looked crushed. His only friend turning on him.

"Wha...." Joel said, just stunned.

"You guys, I'm sorry," Rafe said sombelry. "It's what I felt I had to do. This alliance wasn't going anywhere, I had to keep myself alive, I thought you would understand," Rafe explained.

"So when we spoke earlier that morning, you had no intention of screwing me over?" Corinne asked skeptically.

"None," Rafe denied.

"Bullshit," Corinne spat.

"I had no deals then," Rafe said defensively.

"Dude, just drop it," Joel said walking away.

I cannot believe the one person in this game who I was ride or die with from the beginnign was the one who was going to sell me out, to get himself a few days ahead. Unbelievable! It's disgusting. Things were just starting to turn around for us too, and now this happens! Just wow....

–Joel Klug

I know I'm going home, and that's fine. But if I go I'm taking Rafe down with me. He was gonna cut me down, so I beat him to it. To all future Survivor returnees, don't mess with me! I do not play nice, I do not give a s*** about how much you love this game! Mess with me, and I will end yours faster than you can say 'oops'

–Corinne Kaplan

I knew I was in a risky situation when I started playing both sides. So right now, I guess I'm glad just to have my other alliance to back me up at this point. This is bad, but it could be worse!

–Rafe Judkins

"That couldn't have gone better," Ken whispered.

Colleen nodded excitedly.

"Oh my god, we're gonna go to rocks!" Colleen said nervous.

"Well I guess we just need to hope that lady luck is on our side," Ken said grinning. "Let's play the odds!" Colleen said.

This morning, battle lines were drawn in the sand. It's the Battle of Belize - Borneo and Gabon versus Vanuatu and Guatemala. This is for the game, the whole kit and kaboodle, as a fan and a player, I just can't wait to see what happens next!

–Ken Hoang

The fireworks were just beginning to fly this morning, but everything would have to be put on hold for the immunity challenge. With all the lying and scheming going on back at camp, nothing would be more important than Immunity. Safety from what could be the most important Tribal Council to date was crucial for all eight castaways.

In today's challenge, contestants would begin by traveling through a buoy maze, then that would lead them to a series of knots that would release a key. They key would then open a chest of puzzle pieces that would help assemble a staircase. The first person to assemble their staircase and climb to the top of their tower would win immunity and a one in seven shot at the million dollar prize.

"SURVIVORS READY? GO!"

All eight castaways quickly began to navigate their way through the bouy maze. Rafe getting out to an early lead. Followed closely behind by Ken, Corinne, Julie, and Cindy. Sarge, Colleen and Joel were also not too far behind. Once there Rafe began unloading the knots as did everyone else. Working rapidly, Rafe, Ken and Julie broke free of the knots first and began untying their puzzle pieces. Moments later Corinne and Cindy were doing the same. The race would come down the the puzzle. Feeling anxious Rafe began rushing, putting in puzzle piece after puzzle piece. Julie and Cindy were right behind. Sarge, Joel and Colleen had arrived at the puzzle at this point to, but it was turning into a three way race. Corinne was struggling to keep up as was Ken. Rafe remained one step ahead, panting nervously with each one, one wrong move and it was Julie and Cindy's game to take, but that time never came, because Rafe had planted his final piece, sprinted to the top and exhaled a huge sigh of relief when he heard Jeff announce...

"RAFE WINS IMMUNITY!"

Rafe was safe at tonight's Tribal Council. Despite the drama earlier today, he would be in the clear, no revenge would be wrought this evening, at least not upon him.

This could not have come at a better time. I was on the hot seat after Corinne blew up my spot, but now I have three or more days to do damage control, I'm not out yet and I'm nowhere near done playing!

–Rafe Judkins

When they arrived back at camp Rafe filled Cindy in on the entire Corinne blowup.

"So she knows everything?" Cindy asked concerned.

Rafe nodded.

"How pissed is she?" Cindy asked.

"Enraged, but I think she knows that it's her time," Rafe said.

"Well, at least now we don't have to hide anymore," Cindy said.

Corinne is a bull in a China shop, but unfortunately for her she shattered the glass a little too late. Everything has been set in motion, our plan is coming together perfectly. So hats off to her for trying, but it's a shame she did it just a bit too late.

–Cindy Hall

Little did Cindy know, it wasn't too late. The plan to upset the game was still being tossed around.

"Are you guys gonna still go for it, or are you gonna wuss out, and crawl back to Julie and Rafe and pray they keep you at least one more vote?" Corinne said disgusted to Ken and Colleen.

"It's a big risk," Colleen said sheepishly.

"Oh god," Joel said rolling his eyes.

"Three of us are gonna have to pick rocks, and only TWO of them are," Ken said . "Thanks Ken, I never took a Probs and Stats class before, I'm glad the logic of the situation has hit you," Corinne said annoyed.

"I can't believe I'm going home at the hand of Rafe and two cowards," Corinne said in disgust.

"Listen fellas, you know just as much as I do that the 40% chance of us taking control of the game. If we don't it's over, we should never have come back. If we don't draw these damn rocks right here, right now, we're handing those four the game on a silver platter. I've been on the bottom from day one and I came here to fight. If I draw that rock tonight I'm going home proud because I had the balls to try and win the game. Don't sit here until Day 36 to be voted out knowing that ten days ago you could've changed your fate. This is one chance, one last shot to make a difference in this game...don't blow it," Joel said. Ken and Colleen stood stunned.

So much of this game is based on luck. This is just one more thing. Let's go to rocks, bring it on, I came here to win it all. I think all four of us are the kids who are tired of sitting back and letting the big boys call the shots! Now it's our turn to call the shots starting now.

–Joel Klug

There's a reason people don't draw rocks, people don't want to rely on one moment to determine their whole game when there could be opportunities for them in just a few days. I'm not a threat, nobody is coming after me anytime soon. But if I don't draw a rock at all, do I have any chance to win? I don't know, this game is so unpredictable, so much so that I don't know if letting fate run its course or picking a rock out a bag is more beneficial to my game.

–Colleen Haskell

I've always played Survivor with the odds stacked against me, and tonight is no different. I've got a ragtag team of Survivor's squaring off against with a solid alliance of four, hoping it doesn't just crumble seconds from now. This is my big move, and it's one that will either write me a check or snuff my torch.

–Ken Hoang

Minutes before Tribal Council, Sarge Masters approached Corinne Kaplan one last time.

"I hope maybe you will have learned your lesson after tonight," Corinne rolled her eyes and walked away. She was tired of Sarge being her moral compass in this game.

Corinne wasn't dead yet though. There could be a tie, there could be rocks, this game could change in her favor.

Corinne stopped dead in her tracks and turned around and looked at him.

"You're the one who's going to learn a lesson tonight...Don't underestimate me," Corinne said with an evil grin.

Two days ago I was laying in the shelter ready to have my torch snuffed and tonight I'm playing Survivor Vegas Style! All chance, no regrets, and one big payoff!

–Corinne Kaplan

At Tribal Council, tension was mounting. Corinne and Joel were desperate for rocks, while Rafe's alliance seemed confident that they had the game locked up.

Each castaway voted and everyone eagerly anticipated the results.

"First vote..."

"Corinne," Rafe's vote had been first.

Corinne rolled her eyes.

"Julie," Corinne's vote was next.

1 vote Corinne, 1 vote Julie.

"Corinne," Julie's vote had followed suit.

"Corinne," Sarge's came after.

"Corinne," Cindy's vote rounded out the new four member alliance.

4 votes Corinne, 1 vote Julie.

"Julie," Joel had stuck by his ally Corinne.

The question is: would Colleen and Ken do the same?

Next vote...

"Julie," Ken had made his decision.

Julie's jaw dropped in shock, as did Cindy and Sarge's.

Last vote...

"Julie," we have a tie.

"Oh my god," Julie said, stunned.

"You two?" Cindy said to Colleen and Ken shocked.

"I guess your alliance wasn't so secret," Corinne said grinning.

Rafe put his hands in his lap.

Ken and Colleen had a small grin on their face. They were terrified, but ready to do this. "Alright, here's how this works. We're gonna revote. Corinne and Julie, you will not vote this time. If after this vote we are still tied, we are going to rocks, and after 27 days you will have put your hands in this game to pure chance."

"Everyone stay the course," Sarge said sternly, looking directly at Rafe as he said it. One by one the castaways began to revote. Corinne giddy at all the last minute scrambling at Tribal Council.

"Joel, c'mon, we can still do this," Rafe begged.

"No chance in hell dude," Joel said as he ran up to vote.

"If you vote with us you could start all over Rafe," Ken said smiling.

"You will lose all of our jury votes if you even try voting me out right now Rafe," Julie threatened.

"He'll lose ours too," Ken shouted.

"Did I just lose Survivor?" Rafe asked shocked, confused and upset.

Rafe walked up to the parchment, and stood pen in hand just thinking about what is best for him. He was safe...for now, but he could control who else was safe.

Jeff Probst came back to tally the votes. Tensions were high the prospects of an upset or rocks had everyone on edge, as the votes began to spill out.

First vote...

"Julie," Like Joel said, he was sticking to his guns.

"Julie," Ken did the same.

"Julie," Colleen confidently voted alongside her allies.

3 votes Julie...

"Corinne," Sarge had stayed the course as promised.

"Corinne," Cindy was not going back on her solid four.

3 votes Julie, 2 votes Corinne, one vote left...

Rafe shut his eyes and gritted his teeth, there was going to be major hell to pay with what he had just done...

"Ninth Person Voted Out and the 2nd member of our Jury..."

"Will be one of you other 5," Jeff said.

"Corinne," Rafe's vote read.

Tribal Council was silent.

Marcus leaned over in his jury seat eagerly anticipating what was happening next. This was a rare moment in Survivor history.

"Here's how this works. Rafe has immunity, he is safe. As the two people who have received votes, Corinne and Julie, you are both safe. Cindy, Colleen, Joel, Ken, and Sarge. The five of you are going to reach into this bag. In this bag are four yellow rocks and one purple rock. If you draw yellow you are still in this game, still have a shot at the million bucks. Drawing the purple rock is the equivalent of being voted out of this game. You will be the second member of our jury, your time on Survivor over...let's get to it."

One by one the five castaways passed around the bag, keeping the rock they had chosen a secret, clenched in their fist until it was time to reveal.

"On the count of three, open your palm and reveal the rock in your hand.

"One..."

Colleen Haskell held her breath, trying to stop her heavy exhaling.

Cindy shut her eyes, not wanting to open until the final moment. "Two..." Joel clenched his fist tightly, using the pressure as a coping mechanism.

Sarge slid his fingers up and down the rock, just hoping it would all be over soon.

Ken just sat still, hoping and waiting the risk would pay off.

"Three...Reveal..."

At once all five castaways opened their palms four yellow rocks sat in line, with one purple rock being held by...

Joel Klug.

Joel had drawn the purple rock.

"Joel, that is the equivalent of being voted off, I'll need you to bring me your torch."

"No," Colleen squealed!

Corinne looked dejected.

Ken shut his eyes and bit his lip, knowing a world of pain was awaiting him back at Tribal Council.

"I'm going out loyal to my people," Joel said grinning.

Rafe sadly watched his friend's torch about to be snuffed, he could have stopped it, but he left it up to fate.

"Joel, the tribe has spoken."

The odds were not in Ken & Colleen's favor, but their fight to stay alive was just beginning!
