This is the 4th episode of Survivor: Ireland.
Previously On Survivor...
- After Brendan's blindside on Wicklow, Jonah and Darla were once again on the outs of their tribe. However, after Darla found a clue to the Hidden Immunity Idol and shared it with Jonah, Jonah found the idol, btu was caught by Daniel, and the two agreed to an alliance of the premise that Daniel keeps Jonah's idol as a secret. On Waterford, knowing they were on the outs, Chaswell, Nalia, Barbara, and Tommy tried to sway Bruce over to ditch his Normalton's alliance, and when Waterford lost, Bruce decided to flip alliances at the expense of Shai, eliminating her. 15 are left, who will be voted out tonight?
Reward Challenge:Fun Run
All contestants will be split into pairs, in which they will have a obstacle course to complete. The first stage is to swim through the water while dragging a buoy tied to a rope, strewn across the water. The second step is to run through a wall of bamboo, tangled around, still dragging the buoy on a rope through. The final step is to crawl under a mud pit to the finish, where the first person to tough the buoy to the endpole wins the round. These competitions will go on until one tribe's memberrs are left.
Reward: A choice between comfort items and fishing supplies (Waterford already has fishing supplies, though Wicklow does not).
Immunity Challenge: Water Polo
All the contestants would start on the starting line. Both teams would have to swim out to a platform in the ocean, where a giant puzzle piece was, and swim back with it. There are five platforms, and they must do this five times. Once they bring it back to shore, two people will try to organize the puzzle pieces in a way to make a giant square, similar to a challenge in Survivor: Micronesia. The first tribe to make a perfect square from the puzzle pieces wins immunity.
Coming back from tribal council, Jordan, Nancy, and Riley are shocked at the result. Bruce admits to flipping, and explains that he couldn't live with Shai anymore, though the damage was already done to his former allies.
|“||I know I'm going to get a beating for what I did, but honestly, Tribal Council showed that Shai is immature, and I can't put any trust in her, and after being attacked, I decided to cut her loose. I really hope these people understand.||”|
|“||Since Day 1, me and Bruce have been tight, and now, he turns around and stabs me in the back by betraying the alliance, I'm deeply hurt by him. I don't know if i can trust him again.||”|
Morning at Waterford was tense as the castaways woke up. Riley pulled Bruce to the side and asked him if he still is with her, to which he says that his move was against Shai, not anyone else. Riley asks Bruce to make sure, at the very least, that his alliance doesn't target her.
|“||As angry as I am at him, Bruce is my only shot at staying in this game, and I hope I build enough of a relationship that he'd at the very least make sure his new alliance doesn't target me.||”|
Afterwards, the Oddballs gather around to discuss last night's vote, most of them laughing and joking about Shai's blindside, though Bruce was quiet. The conversation turned to who the next target would be, and Tommy brought up Riley, since she has connections with Wicklow, which Bruce aggressively shot down.
|“||We were having a nice conversation, and when the topic turns to who's next on the list, I suggest Riley. But, noooooooooo, Bruce IMMEDIATELY shoots that down, and it was really strong, which I find suspicious. Something's up with him.||”|
|“||I was naive enough to think that voting out Shai would just affect her, because I just wanted to get rid of her, I didn't see the outcome of that being that my relationship wit Riley is at stake, and that she may be targeted now. I feel guilty for stabbing her, so I have to try and keep her safe.||”|
Meanwhile, camp life at Wicklow is strangely calm, as the tribe is happy to be on a winning streak. Darla pulls Jonah to the side to discuss strategy, and Jonah reaffirms that he has the idol, and he told Darla about his encounter with Daniel, saying that with Daniel on their side and an idol, they can take over the tribe, especially if they split the votes.
|“||It's better than I imagined, Jonah also has an alliance with Daniel, and we're thinking, if the tribe is suspicious about one of us having an idol, which they are, then they may decide to split the votes. And if they do, and Daniel flips, that plan is destroyed, and us three are in control! I can't mess up this golden opportunity.||”|
|“||Me and Darla may be down, but we're not out, with an idol and an alliance with Daniel, I'd say we're doing pretty well off.||”|
Meanwhile, Janette, trying to think of what to do with her clue to Waterford's idol, decides to hide the clue under a rock, so no one will find it, and hope that she get's picked to be kidnapped at the reward challenge, so she can look for the idol.
|“||Because I was first for my tribe in the immunity challenge yesterday, I got a clue to the Hidden Immunity Idol, the twist is, it was for the other tribe. I am really banking on getting kidnapped to the Waterford tribe at some point, because I need to get that idol before someone else does.||”|
As the tribe headed out for reward challenge, Janette was sure to grab the clue. Both tribes convened at the reward challenge, and after Jeff explained the rules to them, they were divided into pairings, with Nancy sitting out for Waterford. The pairings were Janette and Nalia, Shaun and Bruce, Wing and Tommy, Jonah and Chaswell, Darla and Riley, Wanda and Barbara, and Daniel and Jordan. In the first rounds, Janette easily beat Nalia, who couldn't swim far and lagged behind as a result of it. Shaun and Bruce were neck-and-neck the entire course, though a trip-up by Shaun led Bruce to reach the end first. Wing and Jonah both easily beat Chaswell and Tommmy, as Chaswell and Tommy weren't athletic enough to keep up, and between Darla and Riley, both ladies were slow on the swimming, but Riley made up for it in the last two legs of the course, beating Darla. Wanda was sluggish through the course and lost to Barbara, and Daniel was no match for Jordan, who was already militarily trained for the same kinds of exercises.
For the next round, it was Janette and Riley, Wing and Bruce, Jonah and Jordan, and Barbara was randomly given a pass to the next round, due to the uneven amount of numbers. Riley's slow swimming cost her, as Janette powered through the course once again, winning. Wing's determination to win beat out Bruce's when they squared off, and Jordan once again easily beat Jonah. The final four were Janette and Barbara, and Wing and Jordan. Barbara was tired from her first course, surprisingly, and lagged behind, giving Janette the win. Wing was determined to beat Jordan this round, but was behind by a few second, until in the mud pit, Jordan's shoe caught on something, giving Wing the time he needed to pull ahead, winning the reward challenge for Wicklow, their third straight win in a row.
Janette's prayers were not answered, as Waterford chose Wanda to kidnap, as Wicklow, as always, chose Riley. However, as Wanda was about to head out, Janette slipped her the clue to Waterford's idol, which she didn't immediately pick up on until she realized what Janette was doing.
|“||I decided that, if I couldn't find the idol, then I might as well build trust in my allies by giving them the clue, this will earn me some trust with Wanda, I just hope she can find it, and if she does, she'll share it with me.||”|
|“||As I was on my way out to head to Waterford, Janette slipped me the clue to the idol! I have no idea why she gave me an idol clue, but the fact that she did shows that she wants my trust, and I'm gonna find that idol!||”|
Back at Wicklow, Riley spillled the beans on the latest actions of Waterford to Daniel and Janette, who were both interested to hear.
|“||I'm on the outs of my old tribe, and really, I trust Daniel and Janette right now, so I spilt the beans on what went on, hopefully that can gain me trust when I need votes in the future, if I can last that long!||”|
|“||Riley's our only connection to the other tribe, and right now, her being on the outs, while worrisome for now, is great for us in the long haul, because that will force her to become loyal to myself and Janette!||”|
Afterwards, Jonah decided to take Daniel aside and talk about their previous pact, and if he would flip to join himself and Darla, saying that if his alliance splits the votes, it'd be possible.
|“||I'm trying my hardest to convince Daniel to come to our side, he seems a bit hesitant, rightfully so, but I can only hope he comes around.||”|
|“||At this point, Darla's the only one in the game I have no alliance with. I would rather not align myself with every single person, so really the sooner Darla goes, the better, regardless of my alliance with Jonah.||”|
The tension at Wicklow was no match for the tension that would result in Waterford. As Wanda walked back to camp, she opened up the clue, and discovered that it was for Waterford’s beach. Before she went to look for the idol, Wanda chatted with Nancy, who she made friends with earlier, and Nancy revealed that she, Riley, and Jordan were on the bottom because Bruce flipped to Chaswell, Barbara, Nalia, and Tommy. Wanda decided that she may need help finding the idol, and since she trusted Nancy, she revealed the clue to her.
|“||Nancy’s probably my closest ally out here, she’s my only friend out here who’s never stabbed me, or who I haven’t stabbed, and she’s a nice person to talk with. I made a decision that, finding the idol on my own in this old body will be hard, and I could solidify her trust by showing her the idol clue.||”|
|“||After catching up with Wanda, she shockingly showed me the clue to our Hidden Immunity Idol, apparently given to her by Janette, which shocks me, and shows that I really can trust Wanda, because she trust me.||”|
The two divide up the jungle to look for the idol, while Chaswell calls the whole tribe together, right before the two could search for the idol. He announces that they should “let the idols be idle”, and that if he or anyone in his alliance sees anyone going off into the woods, that person would follow them. This infuriated almost the entire tribe, for different reasons.
|“||I realized today, that idols being in play can only be a hinderance to my gameplay, after all, I have a majority alliance, and only an idol could mess that up. So, I announced to the tribe that me and my allies will be closely watching everyone to make sure they don’t go off looking for the idols, and though I didn’t ask my allies first, I know they’ll be up for the job.||”|
|“||Are you CRAZY Chaswell?!? What the heck was that, telling the tribe that we were going to watch them and not let them search for the idol, WITHOUT EVEN ASKING US BEFOREHAND! Why are you causing unneeded tension in this tribe, because the last time I checked, YOU were the one with the idol clue, not us!||”|
|“||To rub salt in the wound after Shai’s blindside, Chaswell comes up with a declaration that me, Nancy and Riley can’t look for the idol, or they’ll watch us the whole time and report it. I don’t like being bossed around, and that is completely ridiculous, I have no idol clue anyway to look for the idol.||”|
|“||Great, just great. RIGHT before me and Wanda go searching for the idol, we’ve been restricted, and now, if I go look for the idol with Wanda, we’ll have the whole freakin’ tribe on us!||”|
Shocked, Nalia, Barbara, Tommy, and Bruce follow Chaswell’s lead, and watch over Nancy, Jordan, and Wanda to make sure they don’t find the hidden immunity idol.
|“||Chaswell really forced our hand today, because now, we’re forced to play babysit to the outsiders, and the mood in the tribe is really tense. Way to go, Chaswell.||”|
|“||I just want a peaceful camp, something I haven’t been able to have lately, after I’ve been targetted and almost got out, and now this! I hope some peace and quiet comes around soon, because I’m getting sick of this tribe’s hostility.||”|
|“||Oh, how my attempt to find the idol has crashed and burned. I hope Janette understands when I explain to her that I let her down.||”|
Both tribes headed off to the immunity challenge, where Wanda and Riley reunited with their tribes, Wanda mouthing “Wow” to her tribemates as she joined them, signaling the craziness that occured at Waterford. After explaining the challenge, Nalia was chosen to sit out for Waterford, and the contestants took their starting position. When they started, Wicklow immediately jumped out to an early lead, as Chaswell and Riley lagged behind the group. Wicklow was swimming back for their first piece as Waterford was still swimming towards their first puzzle piece. Soon, Wicklow overlapped Waterford, as they brought back their second puzzle piece by the time Waterford brought back their first one. The one puzzle piece lead stayed the same as Wicklow and waterford grabbed their third and fourth pieces, and by the time Wicklow swam back with all five puzzle pieces, Waterford just started to swim out for their fifth piece, giving Wicklow a large lead.
Darla and Jonah were working the puzzle for Wicklow, and were confused at how to solve it. By the time Waterford finally got back with their fifth piece, Jonah and Darla were struggling and only found one match in two puzzle pieces. Soon, Barbara and Riley, who were working the puzzle pieces for Waterford caught up with Wicklow. Jonah and Darla were still struggling as Riley and Barbara matched up their third and fourth pieces, and by the time Darla and Jonah finally found another match in the puzzle pieces, Riley and Barbara finished the puzzle, winning immunity for Waterford, leaving a devastated Wicklow, with their challenge run destroyed.
|“||Once again, our tribe has to go to Tribal Council, and at this point, our tribe seemed doomed, what good is winning reward challenges is we’re losing members?||”|
A dejected Wicklow headed back to camp, and the five-man alliance of Daniel, Janette, Wing, Wanda, and Shaun met up. After Wanda told the group about the drama at Waterford (leaving out the part about Janette giving her an idol clue), the group discussed their voting plan.
“So, what are we thinking as far as the vote goes?” -Shaun
“Well, are we sure that Jonah doesn’t have the idol? (Janette glances at Daniel) “I mean, he could have easily found it when we weren’t watching him.” -Janette
“What about splitting the votes?” -Wing
“That seems like the best approach, boys vote Jonah, girls vote Darla?” -Janette
“Are we sure we want to put three votes on Jonah, and only two votes on Darla? Darla’s a pain around camp, and the sooner she’s gone, the better.” -Daniel
“Daniel, Jonah’s a bigger threat than Darla, he should get out sooner than later.” -Wanda
“Alright, if the group wants it, then I guess I’ll be fine with it.” -Daniel
“So, everyone’s on board?” -Janette
“Yes!” -Shaun, Wing, Wanda, Daniel
|“||So, our group decided that tonight, the boys will vote Jonah, and the girls will vote Darla, meaning that if Jonah plays his idol that we think he has, then Darla will go, but if he doesn’t, then he’s out. It’s a perfect plan!||”|
|“||I’m a bit nervous about Daniel right now, pretty much everyone in the group seemed to be on board with putting more votes on Jonah, except him. I hope nothing’s up with him.||”|
Meanwhile, Jonah and Darla discuss who to vote, and agree upon Wing, as he was one of the two people to betray them.
|“||Me and Jonah are putting all our marbles on Daniel flipping towards up, and hopefully, fingers crossed, we can get the scumbag Wing out!||”|
Shortly after, Jonah approaches Daniel and asks him where his head’s at. Daniel tells him that he doesn’t want Jonah out, but he doesn’t want to go against his alliance either, and that he’s conflicted on what to do. Jonah tells him that him and Darla are voting out Wing, and that he’ll leave Daniel to his decision.
|“||Right now, my neck’s on the line. Daniel’s alliances is apparently targeting me, and if I can’t get Daniel to flip to me and Darla, I may have to play my idol.||”|
After some self-reflection, Daniel is stuck between three options, each with their pro’s and cons.
|“||After all that’s happened, it seems that once again, I’m the swing vote. As far as I see it, I have three options. The first option, is to stay with my alliance completely and vote out Jonah, which, while keeps me in a power position, would eliminate my ally in Jonah, no matter how large of a threat he is, with his idol. My second option is to completely stab my alliance, and vote out Wing with Darla and Jonah, which also would put me in a power position, but would, again, get rid of a solid ally in Wing. My final option, is to go halfway, and half-stab both alliances, by voting out Darla. If I do that, then my enemy in Darla would go home, but I would lose trust in all my allies, and potentially put myself in a dangerous position. There’s so much to think about, and all I know is that tonight, someone’s going to get stabbed in the back, and hard.||”|
At tribal council, Jeff asked Wing about the tribal dynamics, to which Wing said that there was a clear division, and that Darla and Jonah are on the outs. Darla responds, saying that Wing shouldn’t feel too comfortable, and when Jeff asks Darla why she says that, Darla says that she has an ace up her sleeve, to which Daniel winces and Janette raises an eyebrow. Janette admits to Jeff that she feels nervous about what might happened tonight, as Daniel has shown signs of reluctance towards voting their way. Daniel says that they’ll have to wait and see before he can comment to that. After voting, as Jeff read the votes, as the votes showed up 2-2-2, everyone expected Daniel to vote their way, but in the end, the final vote was for Darla, shocking the entire tribe as Darla gets her torch snuffed, leaving everyone staring at Daniel, and Jonah with his idol still in his pocket, after daringly holding into it.
Darla Burgundy (3 votes)
Janette, Daniel, Wanda
Jonah Scott (2 votes)
Wing Hoo (2 votes)
|“||Revenge is sweet.||”|
|“||If all goes to plan, either you or Jonah should be going home tonight.||”|
|“||I have to trust Daniel on this one.||”|
|“||The fact that I'm doing this against what everyone on the tribe wants shows how much I dislike you.||”|
|“||You're a big threat, dude.||”|
|“||I'm doing this for the tribe.||”|
|“||A former ally of mine has to go home tonight, I'm sorry, Darla||”|
|“||Well, as shocked and angry as I am at Daniel for stupidly voting me out, I think I've gotten a lot out of this experience. Jonah's opened by eyes to see that not all men are scumbags, and maybe he'll be willing to get something going with me after this whole thing is over. Good luck, Jonah!||”|
