Story[]

Night 22[]

Vireo Tribe[]

(Following Constance's blindside, the ten remaining members of Vireo return to camp.)

Misty: I have never felt so nervous in my life.

Will: Why would you be nervous? I knew it'd happen.

Misty: Still, those five votes coming up for you had me terrified.

I have never felt so relieved in my entire life as I did when that sixth Constance vote came up. It was like this huge pressure had been lifted off me. I knew from the moment we merged that the Gombey Five would come together and my suspicions were proved true tonight. When those five votes for Will came up I was about to have a heart attack because all I could think was "It's 9-2, I'm going to be on the bottom", and even as those other Constance votes came up, I was still thinking I'd be one short. Phyllis flipping was a surprise because it was sort of a last gasp type plea, but I guess I got through to her! I just... (laughs) I want to smile, I want to celebrate, I want to scream, but just like last Tribal, the tension is really high because a lot of people were betrayed, so I'm being sensitive. I just hope things are salvageable because I feel like we could be on the cusp of permanent division and if that's the case, we'd have to rely on Somers permanently and they'd get to the Final Three. I needed to make this move tonight, but I'm praying it hasn't damaged the rest of my game.

Misty Lamoureux

Luca: I’m just so shocked that someone flipped on us tonight…

Will: Well, you shouldn’t be. People should know by now that targeting me doesn’t work. Bailey tried it, he went home; Ryan tried it, he went home; Isla tried it, she went home; and now Constance. No matter what I’ll always find a way out of things.

Jacob: Yeah, cool. We get it, dude.

Will: Good, and hopefully the fourth time is enough for people to learn and not try it again. But if you want to commit Survivor suicide, then try by all means.

(A smug smirk appears on Will’s face. The camera focuses on Jacob, who rolls his eyes.)

So, Will and his stupid arrogant ass survived Tribal again and of course he’s parading around like he’s the best in the world at this game when he survived by, like, one vote. I’m, like, annoyed a little and I don’t usually get annoyed at things, but this is the third time I’ve voted for Will in this game now so, like, he’s gonna end up coming after me at some point. I don’t get it, ‘cause I literally asked Celia what they were doing about twenty seconds before we left for Tribal, and they all said Will. I would have voted for Constance if they’d told me, but no, apparently not. The first time they lied I get ‘cause Oswald would’ve gone home, but this time? They had no reason, so I guess this means I wasn’t ever with them and they’re just stepping on me to get ahead. That sucks, because I’d really grown to like them, especially Celia. I’m sorry for bitching, ‘cause I’m aware I probably sound really whiny right now, but in my eyes they’ve showed their true colours tonight.

Jacob Chapman

Luca: I guess you're just good at surviving... but what was the deal with my fake idol? Darn thing. I could have sworn it was real! It looked the part.

Will: Isn't it obvious? Someone on Gombey has the real thing and they faked you.

Luca: I get why you'd say that, Will, because obviously you're trying to break us up. But no, I know these guys would never do something like that to me. Even if someone did make a fake idol, they would have told me, because I showed it to the group. No one would lie to me like that. They're my friends!

Will: You've clearly never watched Survivor. Someone's playing you, Luca, and don't say I didn't warn you.

Luca: I'm sure there's a perfectly logical explanation for this, because I followed the clue to the letter and found the idol. They must be doing something different this season. I think all the idols must be fake.

Will: Okay, you keep telling yourself that, while I know the truth: there's a traitor in your group.

Adrian: (trying to appear calm) Regarding that matter, Gombey, we must converse forthwith.

(The Gombey Four walk off to a private area. The camera focuses on Adrian, who is looking angry.)

Tonight, the devised scheme was to eliminate William with our six votes and thus advance Gombey to the ideal position of comprising the five remaining individuals. However, instead the result indicated that six individuals had voted for Constance and Luca’s Hidden Immunity Idol was discovered to be counterfeit. Instead of celebrating, we are now examining our strategic partnership for evidence of treachery. (sigh) I am vehemently irate at present! This should not have occurred. Whoever deviated from the specifications is required to have some incredibly logical motivations!

Adrian Redford

Jacob: (to the Somers Trio) Yeah, guys, we should have a talk of our own.

(Jacob and the Somers Trio walk off towards the beach. The camera picks up again as they arrive.)

Jacob: So do you guys wanna explain to me what just happened?

Maria: We decided that the best move for us was to vote for Constance.

Jacob: Okay, but I asked you literally two seconds before we left for Tribal and you told me, to my face, you were voting for Will. What the heck was the point in that?

Oswald: Jacob, I know you’re angry, but we just had to what was best for our games and that ended up being splitting the Gombey Five.

Jacob: And you couldn’t have told me that? I don’t get it. Was the best move also completely screwing me over and putting me in a crap position so y’all could get yourselves further?

Celia: That’s not what we were doing at all!

Jacob: It kinda was!

Celia: No… ugh! Jacob, listen, you’re my friend and I-

Jacob: Okay, Celia, I like you a lot but if you really cared about me, why’d you put me in such a bad spot? It sucks because I feel like I was the only one who actually wanted to save y’all instead of use you as a pack of votes, and then this happens. It just seems like you guys never cared in the first place and everything you said on Somers was a total lie just to get my vote.

Celia: Jacob, no! That’s not how I feel! You’re my friend and I do care about you!

Jacob: Then why leave me out?

Celia: I thought it was important we distance ourselves from you because-

Jacob: (sigh) That doesn’t really seem like you care. You know what? I’m gonna sleep on it because I’m feeling pretty annoyed right now and I don’t wanna accidentally say something I don’t mean, because I really like you guys, but it hurts.

(Jacob walks away)

Celia: Jacob! (kicks the sand) <expletive>!

I can’t believe this <expletive>! I’m so pissed at myself for what I did. I thought it would be best to distance myself from Jacob and prove loyalty to Somers, but why did that matter? Jacob was my friend and ally and I knew he would always look out for me. Why did I ever think this was a good idea? He’s so pissed and it’s my fault… How hard would it have been to tell him? I wanted to create the divide but I feel like I’ve <expletive> myself even further now because Jacob isn’t going to trust us anymore. <expletive> my life! This is going to end badly.

Celia Mosteller

(Following Celia’s confessional, the camera focuses on the Gombey Four as they convene in a private area.)

Adrian: (angry) Whose vote deviated from our specifications?

Veronica: Well it wasn’t me!

Adrian: Nobody insinuated the fact.

Veronica: Well I’m just saying, you’re probably all going to blame me but it wasn’t! I swear, everyone has had it out for me ever since this game started and they just pin everything on me! It happened last vote, it happened with Gary’s vote, it even happened over on Stovel, but not this time!

Adrian: Your insistent denial sans any accusation leads to one drawing the conclusion that it was you!

Luca: You can tell us if it was, Veronica. We won’t be mad.

Veronica: It wasn’t me! I knew this would happen: you’re all just going to gang up on me because I’m the scapegoat for everything. You all jumped up and down about being loyal to Gombey but the second I actually do it, someone flips. This is exactly the sort of thing someone would do because everyone knows I always get the blame for everything!

Luca: Veronica, calm down, please.

Veronica: No! I’m so sick and tired of this! How come I was the first one everybody thought of? Why not Adrian? He’s done it before and it make sense that he'd act all angry and push it on to me because that’s exactly what he did last time! And why not Phyllis? She was never even part of the Gombey Alliance in the first place!

Phyllis: Excuse me!

Veronica: And why the Hell is no one blaming Jacob? He’s the one that makes the most logical sense! Oh, wait, I know why. Adrian, for some reason, your head is so far up Jacob’s ass that you’ll just believe he’s on your side. Is that right?

Adrian: My cranium is not betwixt any buttocks! In fact, Veronica, your irrational meltdown and accusations of every other individual is the reaction you would exhibit if you had betrayed Gombey!

Veronica: So this is it? It’s just my fault. That’s what we’re doing?

Luca: I think we should all just calm down and talk about this…

Veronica: No! I’m not talking to any of you guys! I can’t believe it. I was debating it all night and I decided I’d be loyal because of what Will did to me, and to prove that I was past everything that had happened, but you’ve just proved to me why I should have flipped! Screw you guys!

(Veronica storms off, crying. The camera focuses on her as she leaves.)

I am disgusted! Of course someone had to flip. These guys make me absolutely sick. I didn’t even flip and they’re still blaming me! I am sick and tired of constantly being betrayed and then getting blamed for everything! I can’t handle this anymore! The second we got back, Adrian just accuses me because I said it wasn’t me. How does that make sense? And then even Luca accuses me. They just automatically assumed it was me, even though this is exactly what someone else would do! I’m sick of this. I’m so sick of everything. This is slowly becoming the worst experience of my life and I’m starting to wish I’d never even come out here.

Veronica O'Hara

Luca: (sigh) Great...

Phyllis: We should all just get some sleep. We're emotional right now and we should feel better in the morning.

Adrian: Affirmative.

(The three of them head back to the shelter. The camera focuses on Phyllis, who looks slightly guilty.)

I was the one who flipped tonight, not Veronica. I did it because I felt the Gombey Five would only take me to fourth place. I wouldn't have even considered it if I didn't know for a fact that Somers were going to go for Constance, which is why I talked to them before Tribal. I chose Constance over Adrian because I feel Adrian will keep the group together better and give me more options to work with, whereas him going would have blown the alliance apart. I knew that Veronica would get the blame for this and I do honestly feel bad for it, but I think the best move for me right now is to lay low and continue to let her draw heat, especially with how emotional the group is. I'm also fortunate that Luca seems to have drawn the conclusion all idols are fake this season, because I feel like I've avoided a lot of trouble and almost emerged unscathed. I'm now open to both sides but I'm in a very precarious position. All it takes is one person to unravel everything and I'll be in very imminent danger.

Phyllis Carmichael

Day 23[]

Vireo Tribe []

As the camera opens on Day 23, sad music plays as the camera skims over the sleeping Vireo tribe in the shelter, before panning down to the beach and showing Jacob, all on his own. He is standing by the water's edge, picking up pebbles and skittering them across the water. He watches them as they move, a saddened expression on his face, and sighs deeply.

I don't know what's wrong with me today, but I just woke up feeling really down. It's the first time in this game it's happened and it doesn't much outside the game either. I'm generally an upbeat, happy guy who tries to see the positive in stuff. I can bounce back from a lot of things. Like, I bounced back from Bailey going, I did pretty quick from after Isla went, but for some reason, last vote has hit me like a freakin' truck. Mom said this game strips you down to your core, and I never realised how true that was until this morning. I guess it's just hitting me. I feel like I have no allies and even the friends I had aren't going my way; I really like Misty, but she's clearly with Will, and even Celia moved against me last night and she's the one person I always thought I could count on. I feel like Adrian's the only person I've got out here and I'm not even sure how that's going, 'cause he's still clearly uncomfortable with me being gay, although he's trying, and he's got all his Gombey friends. I guess it's just finally starting to sink in how much everything has gone against me in this game, even when I thought they wouldn't. I never expected it to get to me this much, though. I've never been this down in my life and it's scaring the heck out of me.

Jacob Chapman

(As the camera returns to the beach from Jacob's confessional, Adrian is seen approaching him and stands behind.)

Adrian: Greetings, Jacob.

Jacob: Hey. How long have you been there?

Adrian: Momentarily. I was standing atop the beach when I observed you removing pebbles from the sand and releasing them from your arms in such a manner so as to cause it to bounce along the water's surface. Ordinarily, the incentive for one to commence such an activity arises from the need to alleviate aggravation. Are you aggravated at present?

Jacob: (throwing a pebble) I guess you could say that.

Adrian: Would one be correct if they were to hypothesise the events of the previous Tribal Council correlated to the causation of such feelings?

Jacob: Yep, that's part of it. (he then bends down to pick up another pebble)

Adrian: I do not wish to intrude, and you can promptly request I vacate the immediate vicinity if I am overstepping, but would you like to converse regarding that topic? What you elect to convey to me shall remain confidential.

Jacob: (sigh) Sure. Let's sit down.

(Jacob puts down the pebble in his hand and he and Adrian go back and sit on the beach.)

Adrian: What is the cause of your aggravation?

Jacob: (sighs, looking down) Where do I begin, dude?  It's just... literally everything in this game has gone against me. I've been to, like... (counts on his fingers) four tribals and I've only voted the right way in one of them, and it was the very first one. I wouldn't even consider that the "right" way because it screwed me over and put me in a bad position. And, like, whenever I think I've got something going for me, it just fell apart.

Adrian: May you elaborate?

Jacob: I was cool with Misty on Stovel, but that fell apart. Then I was the swing on Somers and I knew both of them only wanted me for my vote. Then I get here, I think I've got something good going with Isla and Somers and Isla goes, then I still think I'm with Somers next round and then... you know what happened. (sighs) I thought I was good with Misty, I thought I was good with Celia but she betrayed me for, like, no reason last night. I just feel like I have no one anymore. All my allies are either going home or betraying me, I'm constantly voting in the minority... I suck at this game, dude! How am I supposed to last the distance?

Adrian: Negative, that is an incorrect statement. You have not performed poorly in this competition. Why is failing to contribute to an individual's elimination with your assigned vote a negative? This is especially applicable in regards to Isla: the final memory that individual will have of their time competing is that you remained loyal to them and thus, would that not result in their evaluation of who is most deserving of emerging victorious being biased favourably towards you?

Jacob: I guess, but that only goes so far. I mean, if I went with someone who'd played a way better strategic game than me, wouldn't I just get shut out?

Adrian: Not necessarily. Each individual scrutanises gameplay differently and view certain characteristics with a higher priority and more favourable regard. Luca, as an example, is likelier, if I am hypothesising correctly, to prioritise loyalty and friendliness if positioned as one of the nine deciding votes for the victor. William, contrarily, I estimate would hold a strategic game in higher regard.

Jacob: Yeah, I suppose that's one way to look at it.

Adrian: I would further like to address your declaration that you are devoid of strategic partnerships and interpersonal bonds, and inform you that is another incorrect statement, for I am applicable to both the aforementioned categories.

Jacob: (beginning to smile) Thanks, dude, I really appreciate it.

Adrian: (moves his arm towards Jacob, then awkwardly withdraws it) Jacob, is... is placing my arm around your shoulder the appropriate manner in which to comfort you in this situation?

Jacob: (smiles wider) Yeah, dude, it's fine.

Adrian: (moves his arm towards Jacob, then hesitates) Does this action have homosexual connotations?

Jacob: (laughs) No, dude, it's not gay to put your arm around me. People do it all the time.

Adrian: Ah. (tentatively, as if he is about to place his hand on hot coals, Adrian puts his arm around Jacob.) Am I engaging in this correctly?

Jacob: Yeah, you are. (giggles) You're a great guy, Adrian. I hope you know that.

Adrian: Much gratitude. I also regard you favourably, Jacob.

(The two of them sit on the beach, Adrian's arm around Jacob. Adrian's confessional is heard over the top.)

Having noticed Jacob exhibiting behaviour suggestive of a state of agitation, I approached him on the beach and inquired regarding his state of mind. What followed was a cathartic conversation concerning all of Jacob's grievances, which I believe was necessary for him to end his feelings of sadness. I believe I comforted Jacob with the truthful information that failing to successfully eliminate an individual did not have negative connotations and, furthermore, declaring my applicability to the categories of strategic partnership and interpersonal bond. I was entirely engaged in the conversation under the latter category. I believe its occurrence has strengthened our interpersonal bond substantially and, as it reached its conclusion, I began to discover that I am considering Jacob's sexuality with less significance than previous. I shall not fabricate a tale where the situation completely eradicated my feelings regarding homosexuals, however I believe I am progressing. I am now realising that, with the exception of my mental barrier, my interpersonal bond with Jacob does not differentiate from those I share with heterosexual males. Thus, one could conclude the conversation was beneficial for both of us. I am hoping Jacob regains his happiness so as to continue participating in this competition, for I truly now hypothesise that Jacob's assistance can correct my negative feelings regarding homosexuality.

Adrian Redford

(From Adrian's confessional, the camera focuses on an area of the forest, where the Somers Trio.are talking.)

Maria: So it looks like last night might have backfired on us.

Celia: You're telling me. Ugh, it was such a stupid idea. Why did I think it would be good?

Maria: Well on the plus side, it might have put someone in the firing line before us.

Celia: Yeah, but it was still a stupid idea! We wanted to create a divide and we don't even know if that's happened yet! Will doesn't even seem to care!

Maria: Creating division is important, but how are we going to divide them even further? We've already split them in two sides.

Oswald: We divide one side even further. The Brains are pretty fractured right now because Phyllis flipped, right? Well, let's shake things up a little more. Last night, Luca played a fake idol and he thinks they're all fake, right? But mine's real and I know it is, because I got a note with it. Hundred bucks says Luca never got a note.

Celia: So you're going to go up to Luca and do what, exactly? Because he won't believe you. He's too caught up in his fantasy world where everyone's his friend and doesn't lie. That was proved last night.

Oswald: I'm gonna show him the idol and the note. It won't damage me in any way 'cause everyone knows I already have the damn thing, but once Luca realises that someone in the group has faked him, it's gonna create a wedge in the group, 'cause they'll start distrusting one another.

Maria: Won't that endanger Phyllis? I feel like she's one of the few left who would work with us.

Oswald: It won't endanger her. If the group starts turning on each other, then she'll come to us and we can work with a four and see where things go from there. This is the perfect way to splinter that group.

Celia: Sounds good, we have to try anything.

Maria: I'm happy for anything as long as it doesn't screw us further.

Oswald: It won't. I've got the stuff in my bag, I'll go grab it and talk to Luca now. Jeez, this is gonna be hard to do. It'll crush him, but it has to be done.

(Oswald bids goodbye to the group and heads off.)

(Following this conversation, there is a transitioning shot of nature before the camera picks up on Luca as he is walking through the forest and humming a tune. Oswald is then seen approaching him.)i

Oswald: Good morning. Luca!

Luca: (jumps a little) Huh? Oh, hey, Oswald! Sorry, you scared me a little there. (embarrassed laugh) I was off in my own little world.

Oswald: Sorry about that! It's a nice day we're having, huh?

Luca: Yeah! It's great. So... what's up?

Oswald: I just wanted to check that there were no hard feelings about us going against Gombey last Tribal Council.

Luca: Nope! Well, none on my end, anyway, and none that I know of from the other guys. Don't worry, we completely understand why you did it. Actually, I was wondering how you were doing. I guess it can't have been easy to find out that the idol you've had all this time is fake. It's weird, I didn't know either, but I followed the clue exactly on Gombey and got that, so all idols must be fake this season.

Oswald: About that... I have to tell you something.

Luca: Oh?

Oswald: Luca... the only idol that's fake in this game was yours.

Luca: (confused) Wh...what? No, that's not right...

Oswald: It is right. (He reaches into his pocket and pulls out the idol and note) Look, here's what I got with mine. (He shows Luca the note, who reads it. As he continues along the note, his face falls.)

Luca: ...I never got a note.

Oswald: I really hate to break it to you like this. The reason you didn't get a note is because somebody else in Gombey has the real thing and faked you.

Luca: (crestfallen) But... that would mean... I don't get it. I showed it to the group! So you're telling me that... the whole time, someone had it and let me believe it was fake?

Oswald: Yep, that's exactly what happened. I'm really sorry that you had to find out this way, but I'm telling you because it's not fair that you keep getting lied to like this. I really hate to have burst your bubble, but someone in that group is lying to you.

Luca: I can't believe it... they're my friends... but one of them was lying to me?

Oswald: I'm really sorry, Luca.

Luca: No... thank you for telling me. I just... can't believe how much of an idiot I've been this whole time. Sorry- sorry. I really need to go.

(Luca walks away, completely shattered. The camera focuses on his devastated face as his confessional is heard.)

I can't believe I've been lied to again for so long. I feel like such a moron. I haven't seen this show a lot so I didn't realise you were supposed to get notes with idols. I saw my fake and thought it looked real enough and I just never questioned it. What makes all this that much more heartbreaking is I showed it to the whole group and obviously someone had it the entire time but they never bothered to pull me aside and correct me. I wouldn't have minded! I would have appreciated the honesty! Whoever had it let me walk into Tribal and try to use it, so I guess it must be the same person who flipped, but who could do this to me? Obviously not Constance, because she got voted out. Not Adrian, because he and I are close, he's an honest player and he'd never do that to me, especially if Constance was getting votes; it can't have been Phyllis because we're really close and I showed her the idol one-on-one so she would have told me it was fake, but that only leaves Veronica. (sigh) I hope it's not true, but she has told a huge lie to me before, so... I don't know what else to think at this point. I'm sorry, but this has completely shocked me.

Luca Enmore

(The camera then changes focus to Oswald, who is looking a little guilty.)

Telling Luca only his idol was fake was the best move for my game, but it doesn't mean I don't feel awful about it. I saw the way his face completely fell, when it hit him that he'd been lied to. It was like telling a kid that Santa Claus isn't real. That man saw only good in people and I just showed him there's a whole lot of bad in one of his closest friends. It completely broke his heart. (sigh) That poor guy. Things are about to get emotional for that Gombey group and I have a feeling it's gonna be downright ugly.

Oswald Carter

(Following this, there is a transitioning nature shot, and the camera picks up again as Luca meets up with Adrian on the beach.)

Luca: Adrian, thanks for coming with me here. I didn't know who else to talk to about this.

Adrian: What problem has arisen?

Luca: I just had a conversation with Oswald and he told me that only my idol was fake. He showed me his and the note that came with it, and mine never came with a note! So it was fake, someone has the real one, and long story short I feel like a darn fool.

Adrian: I had previously deduced, upon the discovery that your Hidden Immunity Idol was counterfeit, that it had been created by the individual in possession of the genuine object. Which Gombey member do you believe could have located it?

Luca: Well, that's the thing, and it really hurts me to think that this person did it after everything we've been through. It wouldn't have been you, because you wouldn't have let Constance leave.

Adrian: Affirmative. Had I been in possession of the Hidden Immunity Idol, I would have utilised it.

Luca: Obviously Constance never had it because she left. Phyllis can't have had it because I showed her the idol first, one on one, while we were on Somers together. She would have told me it was fake if she knew. So that only leaves...

Adrian: Veronica.

Luca: I don't get how she keeps lying like this. She told me she wanted to go looking for the day I found it, and I told her, "No, you'll get in trouble if they catch you. I'll look," and she agreed! Why not tell me she had the idol right then and there? It doesn't make any sense!

Adrian: Veronica has previously deceived us regarding her decision to align a vote towards me and falsified her knowledge of the specifications that required her vote be assigned to you. Then, on Stovel, she declared to Isla on numerous occasions that she would assign her vote to William, yet deviated and voted for Ryan without informing Isla prior to the vote. Furthermore, she betrayed Isla by informing William of Isla's scheme to eliminate him, despite insistence to refrain from doing so. It has been thoroughly established that her actions are wholly void of logic.  She infuriates me.

Luca: But what do I do about it?

Adrian: Approach her in a secluded area, removing the possibility of eavesdropping, and make a second inquiry regarding her vote at the previous Tribal Council. If she admits to having deviated from our specifications, inform her that she will be reprimanded with leniency. Furthermore, her admission will ascertain that she is in possession of the Hidden Immunity Idol.

Luca: You want me to confront her? I'm not very good at that...

Adrian: You are the only individual who can compromise with her, the one she will engage with and respond to. If we are seeking an admission of deviation, you are required to converse with her.

Luca: What if she explodes on me again?

Adrian: It will only consolidate her guilt.

Luca: Okay... (sigh) I'll go talk to her. I really can't believe she'd do something like this.

(Luca walks away. The camera focuses on Adrian, who watches him go, shaking his head.)

Luca returned to me, crestfallen, having been informed by Oswald that his Hidden Immunity Idol was the only one to be counterfeit. This did not flabbergast me as it did him, for I had foreseen this as the most probable conclusion. Thus, based on evidence, we deduced that Veronica has not only acted fallaciously regarding her deviation from our specifications, but also regarding her ownership of the Hidden Immunity Idol. Furthermore, I fail to be surprised that Veronica has undertaken this course of action, for she is evidently a pathological liar. I believe we must secure an admission from her forthwith to minimise damage and fractures within our strategic partnership and Luca is the most qualified individual to obtain the desirable outcome. Ascertaining yet another example of Veronica's deception has consequentially decimated the last microscopic particle of trust I had for her. Thus, one can ponder whether it is most advantageous at present to remain within our Gombey Four to eliminate William, Misty, or a Somers, or utilise the votes of these individuals to comprehensively dispatch Veronica, the most treacherous and problematic individual remaining in the competition. Surely such a move should carry mutual benefit for all of us.

Adrian Redford

(The camera next picks up as Luca approaches Veronica in some part of the forest.)

Luca: Hey Veronica. I've been looking for you for a while.

Veronica: I've been avoiding Adrian and Phyllis all day. What's the point in even talking to them if they're just going to assume I'm guilty of something I'm not? It was so sick, all of it. They just assumed I flipped and there's no evidence. They're such massive hypocrites, too, especially Adrian. He's flipped before and he expected us to get over it and still blamed me for it. Can you believe him?

Luca: Well... I just talked to Oswald, and he told me that only my idol is fake, so someone from Gombey has it and left the decoy there.

Veronica: That's another thing Adrian's going to blame me for, obviously. I bet he did it all along! I bet he's got the idol, he's had it all this time, and he knew Constance was going to beat him in the end so he turned on her, knowing I'd get the blame for it! He's done this perfectly, I mean, credit to him. Every single person thinks I flipped. Everyone's always against me and he took advantage of that!

Luca: (sigh) Veronica, I really don't think Adrian could have done this-

Veronica: Oh my God, you too

Luca: I... I need to ask you something.

Veronica: What?

Luca: I need you to... (sigh) please tell me honestly if-

Veronica: (enraged) Are you serious!? I can't believe this! You were not just about to ask me that! You too. Wow, Luca, wow. Why is this happening to me!? How has Adrian got you all wrapped around his finger like that? My own closest friend, abandoning me! I expected it from Phyllis, I expected it from Adrian, but never from you! Did Adrian put you up to this? I bet he did! This is all his doing! He's trying to turn everyone against me because he hates me that much! I can't believe you'd accuse of this! I thought you knew me better!

Luca: Veronica, please calm down-

Veronica: No! Why the Hell should I!?

Luca: Well... Veronica, you have lied before-

Veronica: That doesn't mean I'm lying again!seriously can't believe you! I told you there was no more secrets between us, but somehow, Adrian has still turned you against me! Ugh, this is... I should just quit! That's what everybody wants, isn't it? That would just make your lives all so much better!'

Luca: What? No! Don't quit! Please don't! Nobody wants that!

Veronica: Well it seems like you all do, since you've all turned against me!

Luca: Veronica, you really didn't do this, did you?

Veronica: Of course I didn't do it! I can't believe you'd just come up and accuse me like that.

Luca: Look me in the eye and tell me, in a calm voice, you didn't do this and you don't have the idol.

Veronica: (sighs, looking at Luca)didn't do this! I swear!

Luca:  And you don't have the idol?

Veronica: (pleading) No!swear I don't! I don't have the idol, I didn't flip. I hate how no one believes me!

Luca: Well... (sigh) I hope this doesn't come back to bite me, but I believe yo-

Veronica: (joyous scream, hugs Luca with such force that he falls backwards onto the ground) Thank you! Thank you so much!

Luca: Woah! You don't want me to get evacuated, do you? It's okay! I believe you!

Veronica: You're, like, the only person who does! Obviously you see now that Adrian's been pulling the strings in all this, right?

Luca: (getting back to his feet) I believe that you didn't do it, so that's a start. Please don't quit. We'll get through this and find out who really did it, okay?

Veronica: I'm not quitting, I promise! Thank you, again!

(The two of them walk off in different directions. For the first time in days, Veronica is all smiles, as she continues her walk in the forest.)

I've had a really horrible last few days because everyone's been against me since the merge started. When Luca accused me of flipping and having an idol, I was disgusted. I was ready to just pull the plug and quit altogether, because if Luca had been turned against me, I would have had no one. But thankfully, he has a brain in his head and realised that I was actually telling the truth! Adrian really thought he could turn Luca against me? Well sucked in to him. I don't know what I'd do if I didn't have Luca. He's the only person who's been consistently with me, even through everything. If he makes the end and I don't, I'm hands down voting for him to win. He's the only person who deserves it. If it weren't for him, I would quit this game. No joke. He's the one holding me together.

Veronica O'Hara

(The camera transitions to Luca, who is anything but smiles, as he heads back to camp.)

I feel a little embarrassed that I didn't believe Veronica. I went to talk to her about it and she unleashed something fierce on me before I'd even finished my sentence, and through all that, I realised that she actually hadn't done it. Veronica admits things when she's pressured into it, but she never wavered, so I asked her to look me in the eye and tell me she hadn't, and when she did I believed her completely. Veronica's been distraught the last few days, especially yesterday and this morning, and was ready to quit when she thought I was against her. I'm glad we've sorted things out, I know she's innocent, and we're back on the same page. If she'd quit because I'd falsely accused her of flipping, I would be completely shattered. Honestly, though, that means something far more sinister has happened. Veronica's convinced Adrian did it, but no way does he turn on his best friend with an idol in pocket. If Veronica didn't do it, that leaves... Phyllis. I'm almost certain she's the flipper and holds the idol now, and if that's the case I'm really quite upset, to be honest. I was close with her on day one, I aligned with her on Somers; I showed her the idol one on one and she didn't admit it was fake. I showed it again to the group, still nothing. I would have thought we were close enough for her to admit a mistake and know that I would have kept it secret and not been mad. Now that I know this, I'm keeping it to myself while I figure out how to confront her on it. I'm not even sure if I should, because it could fracture the Gombey Four even further and split us up, and I'm still all in on Gombey to the end, so that's the last thing I'd want. Oh, what am I supposed to do?

Reward Challenge[]

Jeff: Come on in, guys!

(The castaways walk in and stand on their mat.)

Jeff: You guys ready to get to today's reward challenge?

Castaways: Yes!

Jeff: For today's challenge, you'll be split into two teams of five. One at a time, you'll go down a water slide and swim out to collect a very heavy puzzle crate. As more members come down, you'll have more help to get your crates. Once you've collected all five crates, you'll use them to solve a puzzle. First tribe to solve their puzzle wins reward. Wanna know what you're playing for?

Castaways: Yes!

Jeff: The winning team will be taken away on a yacht where you will enjoy a feast of sandwiches, fruit, and chocolate cake all while cruising around the ocean. (The castaways all look excited.) We'll do a random draw for teams and then we'll get started.

(The castaways are awaiting Jeff's signal.)

Jeff: On the Teal Team, we have Jacob, Luca, Misty, Oswald and Phyllis. On the Magenta Team, we have Adrian, Celia, Maria, Veronica and Will!

(The camera goes up to the Magenta Team at the top of the slide)

Will: (whispering) Now, remember, weakest people go down last so you'll have the most help carrying the crate. Adrian, you take charge on the puzzle. Got it?

Adrian: Affirmative.

(The camera goes back down to Jeff.)

Jeff: Survivors ready? GO!

Challenge Summary:

  • Maria goes down first for Magenta, while Oswald is down first for TealMaria swims out faster and gains a slight lead as she pulls the crate back quicker.
  • This lead only gets stronger as Celia comes down quickly. Misty manages to keep up with the swimming, but struggles slightly with the crate, while Celia and Maria handle it easier. As Will and Jacob go down for their respective teams, Magenta's lead only gets bigger as Jacob struggles carrying the crate back, while Maria leads the team in carrying the crate quickly.
  • Teal manage to claw back a little bit of time as the last people go down, despite Magenta having a strong advantage. Veronica struggled for Magenta and held them back a little, but as they got their puzzle back, Luca struggled to carry the crate for Teal, giving Magenta a huge time advantage. Under Adrian's guidance and Maria and Celia lifting the crates, they complete the puzzle with ease. Although Teal managed to get back before Magenta had finished, they had barely started when Magenta placed their last piece in, giving them a big win.

Jeff: The Magenta Team win reward!

(Team Magenta celebrates. with Will pumping his fist and Maria and Celia sharing a celebratory hug. Veronica jumps up and down with excitement as there is a timeskip and the castaways are back on their mat.)

Jeff: Adrian, Celia, Maria, Veronica, Will, congratulations on a huge win! The yacht is coming to pick you up now. You guys can head on out!

(Team Magenta heads out, with Veronica still jumping about excitedly like a child.)

Jeff: Jacob, Luca, Misty, Oswald, Phyllis, unfortunately I have nothing for you. Grab your stuff, head back to camp. I'll see you at the next challenge.

(Defeated, Team Teal leave the challenge area as the camera fades away.)

Reward[]

(The camera opens again as the winning Magenta Team are on board the yacht. They walk around the deck, and to the table with their food reward.)

Maria: That is a massive chocolate cake.

Celia: Were they expecting five people or fifty?

Will: The point isn’t how much cake there is, it’s that there’s cake. Let’s eat.

(The castaways then begin loading their plates with sandwiches, fruit and cake. Will takes the cake knife and cuts himself a massive slice as everyone stares in shock.)

Celia: Are you pregnant with quintuplets or something? That’s huge.

Will: It’s there to be eaten and otherwise they’ll throw it out. I’m just eating my share.

(As everyone sits down to eat, the camera focuses on Will as he takes a huge bite of cake.)

I like chocolate cake. Deal with it. Having devised the strategy that allowed us to crush the opposition I felt well within my rights to take an enormous piece. The win today was satisfying. I hate losing, so living in a world where Maria, Superhuman Robot 4000, wins everything was starting to get under my skin. And before feminists jump up and down, it’s not because she’s a woman and I have fragile masculinity; I don’t like being upstaged by anyone and I don't care if they’re man, woman, unicorn, attack helicopter, or whatever else Tumblr can come up with. It was great for me to be able to end up on the successful side of something out here for once and this is the one time I don’t mind Maria winning. This reward actually gives me a chance to talk to Gombey people. I’m sure they have in their minds that we’re two divided sides with Somers as the swings because I’m going to butcher them to death in their sleep, but if I do it won’t be over that. I don’t care that people keep voting for me. The fact is I always find a way to stay and that’s their problem. What I need to do is show them that and get them back on the right path, and that is eliminating someone from Somers, like we should have done two rounds ago. I don’t care who it is that goes, but I’ll stop at nothing to get one of them out. There is no way I’m letting all three of them into the final nine.

Will Donovan

There is a montage of the castaways eating fruit, sandwiches and cake. The camera focuses on Adrian as he takes a huge bite of a sandwich, then to Maria as she eats a strawberry, then as Veronica and Celia shoving a mouthful of a much smaller piece of cake than Will, who is shown to have already eaten over half of his gargatuan slice. The camera timeskips to the point where everyone has finished eating.

Will: (grabbing the napkin off his plate and wiping his face) Well that was a great cake.

Maria: Did you eat enough? (laughs)

Will: Yes, actually, I did.

Veronica: I never thought I'd enjoy a sandwich that much! This was an amazing reward! All I've ever won before this is a piece of pizza.

Adrian: (finishing off the last bite of his last sandwich) Affirmative, me as well. I believe this will provide adequate sustenance for the future.

Will: Adrian and Veronica, I need to talk to you. Can we go?

Veronica: (rolls her eyes) Whatever.

Will: Don't roll your eyes, this is important.

(Will, Adrian and Veronica all leave. Celia and Maria sit back and relax in a couple of chairs, laughing.)

Celia: Off they go to strategise.

Maria: You know what's funny?

Celia: What?

Maria: (unfolds her napkin and pulls out a rolled up piece of paper) Look,

Celia: (laughs) Is it the same clue as before?

Maria: (unfolds it and skims the paper) Yep. (shows it to Celia) See?

Celia: You've still got the other clue, right? (Maria nods) What are you going to do with this one?

Maria: (pauses for a while, then "accidentally" makes a small rip in the paper) Whoops!

Celia: (laughs) Oh my God.

Maria: (rips the entire thing clean in half) Whoops! (Celia laughs even louder as Maria stifles her own giggles) Shhhh! (she rips the entire thing to shreds)

Celia: (struggling to talk through laughing so hard) I can't believe you just did that!

Maria: (casually throws the shreds of paper in a nearby bin, laughing) That was never here.

(Celia continues laughing. She laughs so hard she loses her balance and falls off the chair, causing both women to laugh even harder.)

Maria: (laughing heartily) Oh my God, Celia, you moron.

Celia: (trying to regain her composure as she climbs back into the chair) I haven't laughed that much in a while.

Maria: Me neither. I think there's tears in my eyes.

Celia: Oh man. (sigh) What do you think they're saying about us?

Maria: Hmm.... let me think about that... it's one of life's greatest mysteries, something that people will search for years to uncover... and it will go something along the lines of "Maria's a challenge threat, get her out".

Celia: (laughs) Yeah, duh. So they're back on targeting us, huh?

Maria: Dividing was a long shot, but I think Will's gung ho on getting one of us out. Fortunately, though, there's people who hate Will enough they might take him out.

Celia: Ugh... I can't believe we're not even being given a chance at the merge.

Maria: (laughs) How do you think I feel? I've had to win every single challenge just to keep myself alive.

Celia: We could always sell Phyllis out. Surely Veronica or someone would have a big enough meltdown that they'd vote her out for revenge.

Maria: I'd rather it not come to that. I think Phyllis is someone who'll change the game and seems to be the only one even thinking of seriously working with us at this point.

Celia: We're never going to have any definites, are we? I feel like one of us is going to be the next to go and it <expletive> sucks, but if I'm going down, at least it's with my best friends. (sighs) You know, Delilah would so love to meet you.

Maria: Yeah?

Celia: Yeah, you're a really tough, strong, independent woman and she likes those. All her friends are like that.

Maria: You know who'd love to meet you? My daughter, Camilla. She's fifteen, nearly sixteeen, young and impressionable and she loves the strong, no-nonsense women who speak their minds. You're exactly that.

Celia: I'm not that interesting.

Maria: I think you would be to her. I'm sure, when she sees you on TV, she's going to be rooting for you. No doubt she'll be badgering me at the reunion to meet you.

Celia: That'd be pretty cool! You know, I'm really glad we're friends, Maria. I think this could continue well after the game.

Maria: Yeah, me too. Kingsport's pretty far away from Aspen, though. You'd probably have to go to Knoxville and then there could be stopovers, so it could take you up to 16 hours travel time, although I'm pretty sure it's only about four or five hours back. Go figure. American plane travel, folks!

Celia: <expletive> that, An hour and a half drive to Knoxville for sixteen hours on the way over? Never mind then.

Maria: (mock offense) Wow, rude, so much for "best friends". You wouldn't travel sixteen hours to see me?

Celia: Well maybe, I mean it is only a few hours on the way back, but no promises. You know, I really hope we can find a way out of this, because I still really want to go to the final three with you and Oswald.

Maria: Yeah, definitely, but we're gonna have to fight really hard.

Celia: It'll all be worth it! (She stands up) Want more cake? There's still heaps left over.

Maria: Sure, why not? We'll only get it once.

Celia: We'll have to leave the rest for Will. I just hope he doesn't have a built-in radar that alerts him whenever someone's about to have a piece of chocolate cake. (laughs)

(As Celia cuts two pieces of cake, the camera focuses on her with a huge smile on her face.)

I love Maria. Aside from maybe Oswald, because of all the personal stuff I've shared with him, I'd say there's no one I get along with better out here. She and I just get each other. We've got a lot in common and we're just able to have completely casual and personal conversations that have nothing to do with the game. Like today at the reward, when she ripped that clue I just laughed my ass off, and then we were able to kick back, relax over some chocolate cake, talk about our families and even start thinking about catching up after the game. Maria's someone I know I'm completely safe with and I've never questioned that for a second. I've got her back to the end, 100%, and I know she has mine.

Celia Mosteller

(Celia then returns to the chairs and hands a plate of cake to Maria. As Maria takes the piece and has her first mouthful, the camera focuses on her smiling face.)

There’s no one out here who I’ve bonded with even half as much as Celia. I do feel comfortable around her and she’s the most genuine person out here, hands down. She wears her heart on her sleeve and she’s got a very tough exterior, but once you crack that, you’re well and truly in and have her undying loyalty. When Celia tells me something, I know for certain that it’s true, and it’s virtually impossible to say that about anyone else. Our conversation today was fantastic. I’ve never laughed that much out here and haven’t even done that in the real world for a long time. I’ve had two pieces of cake today, for crying out loud. I’d never do that in real life, but for some reason, since Celia’s doing it I don’t have a care in the world. I hate the fact that I have to lie to her about the idol and I have to fight this huge urge inside me that’s screaming to tell her, but I know she’s got her heart set on this Somers Final Three. I’d say she’s thinking very optimistically but realistically, I know it’d take divine intervention for the three of us to get to the end at this point. Unfortunately that means I have to keep my idol secret from her, since I very likely will have to jump ship at some point and she’d pressure me to use it to keep the Trio safe. Although I’m always looking out for myself above all else, if there’s anyone I want to go to the end with, it’s Celia. No question.

Maria Ortiz

(The camera then transitions to Adrian, Veronica and Will as they meet up some distance away from Celia and Maria.)

Veronica: What do you want, Will?

Will: I need to make sure you guys are on the same page as me. Forget all this stupid Gombey vs. everyone else <expletive> for now. The important thing is we unite again to get someone from Somers out. They’re all massive threats and if we don’t move, the three of them will make up the Final Nine.

Veronica: Please. Why should I trust you? You’re probably using this as a cover to get revenge on one of us.

Will: I don’t care that I got votes from your alliance of five. That’s over, it’s done, I’m moving past it. I realise that the most important thing is taking a Somers out, otherwise we’ll be sitting on the Jury while they make up the Final Three.

Adrian: Affirmative. I concur with your statement, Willi- (Will glares) Will.

Veronica: Of course you do. Ugh, you know what, Will? I don’t really want to talk to Adrian right now, so I’m not even sure why I’m here.

Will: Oh, for <expletive> sake. What’s the problem?

Veronica: My problem is someone flipped from our side and immediately, Adrian blamed me! I said it wasn’t me, so apparently that means it was me. What kind of stupid logic is that?

Adrian: It was a conclusion drawn on the basis of your previous instances of fabricating knowledge, or lack thereof, of strategic schemes and your irrational and frantic accusations of every other individual within the strategic partnership. It was a fairly logical summation in my opinion.

Veronica: (raises hands in the air defensively) See? I can’t deal with this. You expect me to work with someone like that? And honestly, after you betrayed me the first merge Tribal, I’m not sure I can work with you either!

Will: Of course Veronica didn’t <expletive> flip. It was Phyllis.

Adrian: (stunned) What?

Veronica: (attacking) Ha! See? I told you it wasn’t me! I told you! But did anyone listen? No! You’ve had it out for me since day one. Even when I’m innocent, you just blame everything on me, just like everyone!

Adrian: What could possibly have motivated Phyllis to deviate from our specifications?

Will: Well, we told her that she’d never make the end if she stuck with the Five, but ask her yourself if you want to know. Now that we’ve gotten the truth out of the way, can we get on with things?

Veronica: (staring at Adrian, demanding) Well? Have you got anything to say for yourself?

Adrian: Veronica I apologise, sincerely and wholeheartedly, for my fallacious accusations of you regarding the deviation from our proposed scheme. My evidence was entirely circumstantial and it has obviously evoked considerable offence and emotional distress on your behalf. I had a significant error of judgement.

Veronica: No, no, that’s not enough. See, you always do this to me and you think you can just get away scot free, but no, words aren’t going to cut it this time. You’ll just do this over and over again if I let you get away with this. If you’re truly sorry, kiss my feet.

Adrian (recoiling in disgust) N-negative!

Veronica: Yes! If you really want me to believe you’re forgiving me, you will get down on the ground and kiss my feet.

Adrian: Feet that have not been cleaned for approximately twenty-six days? Feet covered with soil and sores, potentially harbouring some sort of bacteria or infection? Is it your intention to exact vengeance on me by inducing violent emesis?

Veronica: I want you to feel how I felt! Just kiss my feet once and I’ll forgive you. Go on. Do you want my forgiveness or not?

Will: Veronica, he’s not kissing your <expletive> feet. That’s disgusting. Adrian apologised, he was wrong, and that’s the end of it.

Veronica: He needs to understand what I felt!

Will: Only if you're prepared to get down on your hands and knees and clean up the flood of vomit that will come, first from Adrian for having to actually do it, and then from me for having to watch it.

Veronica: Fine, I guess it's okay that he apologised.

I had every right to humiliate Adrian like that! After falsely accusing me of flipping with no evidence, and everything else he’s done to me during this game, I’d say asking him to kiss my feet was him getting off lightly! He deserved a lot worse, but, clearly, ,he’s not going to do it so I guess I’ll accept the apology. If he pulls anything like this again, though, and tries to turn around and ask for my help, I’ll just ignore him. I hate Adrian. He can kill himself for all I care. Oh, and as for Phyllis? Who does that stupid bitch think she is? She wasn’t even supposed to be a part of Gombey. We were all meant to vote her out, but Constance an Adrian saved her. Sucked into Constance for betraying Gary, because look what happened now, but it just speaks volumes of the disgusting human being Phyllis is. Not only did she turn on the person who saved her, but she also sat back and let me take the blame and go through all that <expletive> without even saying anything. She’s a <expletive> coward. I can’t believe she would do that to me! I’m so disgusted by her. I’m really surprised that Will of all people came to my defense. I thought he was just a traitorous, misogynistic asshole because of how betrayed me at the first merged Tribal, but maybe I was wrong. He’s certainly showing a lot more loyalty than Gombey. I’m even more convinced that I should have flipped last night. If it wasn’t for Luca, I’d have no hesitations!

Veronica O'Hara

Adrian: (relieved sigh) Much gratitude, Will.

Will: Finally getting my name right after two weeks. So is everyone happy now? We’re all going to get over this <expletive> and target a Somers? It’s what we have to do.

Adrian: I shall contribute to the execution of this scheme if you can assemble the required individuals.

Will: Veronica? Adrian’s apologised, so you have no reason to be mad and launch some petty revenge vote against him.

Veronica: Fine, whatever, as long as everyone knows now that I didn’t flip.

Will: Good.

(They begin walking back to the food area. Adrian walks ahead, shuddering at the thought of kissing Veronica’s feet, while Veronica goes over to Will.)

Veronica: Thank you so much for that! I really appreciate it. I owe you.

Will: No problem.

(The camera focuses on Will, who has a conniving smile)

I told Adrian and Veronica that Phyllis flipped for a couple of reasons. Firstly it was to stop anyone- Veronica in particular- pursuing stupid vendettas so they could get back on the same page and go forward with my plan of getting a Somers out. Telling them it was Phyllis leaves just enough of a fracture there, though, so they don’t permanently get back together. I think the apology was a temporary fix, but now Phyllis is going to be untrustworthy and Veronica’s still mad, so I doubt those two will be sticking with Gombey. Secondly, I brought Veronica closer to me again. She’s an emotional player and proved that by voting against me, despite bitching about being on the bottom of Gombey to anyone who’ll listen, because she was mad at me. That works the other way ‘round too. She even said to me that she owed me. The fact I showed her loyalty by revealing her innocence when everyone on Gombey thought she was guilty will mean she’ll be more inclined to vote with me when I need. It’s why I’m not worried about still having four Gombeys and Jacob in the game. I know, somewhere down the line, I can <expletive> with Veronica’s emotions again and get her to flip back to my side. (laughs) I know exactly what I’m doing. Trust me.

Camp[]

(Following their defeat, the members of Team Teal- Jacob, Luca, Misty, Oswald and Phyllis- arrive back to camp.)

Jacob: Well that was a blowout. (laughs)

Misty: Yeah, it was kind of one-sided from the start. They had Maria and Celia. (sigh) That food would have been amazing.

Luca: You know what, guys? If they get food, we should too! Why don't we go find and eat a whole coconut each? That way we can get our own reward!

Phyllis: You know what? That's actually a really good idea.

Oswald: Yeah, screw what those guys think. We're getting a reward, too, dammit! (laughs)

Luca: Okay, then Expedition Coconut is underway!

(Exciting music plays as the castaways head over to a coconut tree. Oswald climbs and begins dropping down coconuts to each of them, before getting one for himself. They each pick up a coconut and head back to camp. Oswald then begins cutting open and handing them around.)

Oswald: Bon apetit, everyone!

(Phyllis, Jacob and Oswald all begin eating theirs. Misty is paused, eyeing the fire.)

Misty: Okay, does anyone else want theirs toasted? I am so craving toasted coconut right now.

Luca: Oh, yes, please!

Misty: I'll do yours and then mine, okay?

Luca: Sounds great!

(Luca hands Misty his coconut and she chops the pieces up, then starts cooking them in a pan over the fire)

Misty: Should be ready in a couple of minutes or so.

Luca: Thank you! (laughs) I feel so naughty right now, you guys.

Jacob: Honey, honey, you wanna know about naughty? Try having your mom catch your blowing your boyfriend in your bedroom.

Phyllis: (pauses with a piece of coconut in her hand, shocked) What!?

Misty: (laughs) Oh, this is a story I have to hear.

Jacob: (giggles) Okay, okay. So I was with my boyfriend, Louis, and we were kinda fooling around and we got, like... in the mood. I didn't realise my Mom was home, so I thought we'd have some fun. I didn't even hear walk up the hallway, but next thing I know my door is open, Mom's standing in my door with the laundry basket wanting to put my laundry away.. and I'm on my knees. (giggles) Man, I was embarrassed.

Oswald: (guffaws) Jesus! That is the most embarrassing thing I've ever heard.

Phyllis: How did your Mom react? I would have had a heart attack if I walked in and saw that!

Jacob: She keeled over laughing hysterically. (giggles) I've never seen her laugh so hard in her life and she's never letting me live it down. You know what she got me for Christmas that year? A lock for my bedroom door.

Misty: (laughs) Wow, your Mom sounds cool. My parents would have ripped my door off its hinges.

Jacob: Yeah, my Mom's pretty cool, alright. She'd love to meet you guys!

Oswald: And I'm sure we'd like to meet her and hear some more embarrassing Jacob stories!

Jacob: Yep, she's got a lot of those.

Misty: Sorry to change the subject because this is pretty entertaining, but Luca, your coconut's ready.

Luca: (laughs) Oh, delicious!

(Luca begins eating his coconut as Misty prepares her own. When she is done, the five of them are sitting down eating in silence. Luca breaks it.)

Luca: I have an idea, guys. It's a little inspired from Jacob's story, but-

Jacob: Uh... I think you might wanna look at the way you worded that. (giggles)

Luca: (confused) What? (realising what Jacob's referring to) Oh, no, no! No, I didn't mean that! I was going to say we should all play a game of Confessions. We all have to confess something a little embarrassing, or funny, about ourselves.

Oswald: Nothing X-rated like Jacob's, though! (laughs)

Phyllis: That sounds fun! Who wants to start?

Luca: Why don't you go?

Phyllis:Okay, uh... Oh! I know. I... (laughs) I think The Bodyguard's soundtrack is horrendous and one of the worst albums I've ever heard, and I never really cared for Whitney Houston as an artist.

Oswald: Okay... wow

Jacob: It's literally one of the best selling albums of all time!

Phyllis: I know, I just can't stand Whitney Houston's vocals. Nobody can believe it when I tell them! She's my pet hate when it comes to music. I can't even listen to a song she features in. Actually, for my sixtieth birthday we had a party and, separate to the invitation, we had a little sheet of paper asking our guests to request three our four songs they'd like to listen and dance to on the night. In big, bold letters, I had "DO NOT REQUEST ANYTHING BY WHITNEY HOUSTON BECAUSE IT WILL NOT BE PLAYED." (laughs) Oh, dear, did that upset my niece. She's a huge Whitney fan.

Jacob: Your niece has good music taste and I am officially offended that you don't like Queen Whitney!(giggles, then eats a piece of coconut) Nah, kidding, but I'm just, like, shocked.

Phyllis: You aren't the first. (laughs) My niece wouldn't talk to me for a whole day when I told her!

Jacob: I agree with your niece!

Phyllis: (laughs) Someone else go! Save me!

Misty: Okay, I'll go. I love drinking milk mixed with soda.

Luca: No offence, but ew!

Phyllis: That sounds absolutely horrendous.

Misty: It isn't though! Have you ever had soda and ice cream? It literally tastes exactly like that except imagine the ice cream has completely melted. You obviously have to drink it pretty fast, because otherwise the milk goes bad, but it tastes amazing. Don't knock it 'till you try it!

Oswald: I don't think I could ever stomach that, sorry, Misty. (laughs)

Luca: Is it my turn now? Okay, well... I hate chocolate.

Misty: Okay, Luca, you need to get out, like, right now. (giggles) Chocolate is my life.

Jacob: Yeah, chcoolate is amazing! How can you hate it?

Luca: I just don't like anything with sugar in it.

Jacob: Not even sugar free chocolate or, like, super dark 90% cocoa?

Luca: Nope, not even that. Sugar free chocolate is still too sweet for my liking and then you get the super dark varieties and they're just bitter. I don't even care much for its texture. Sorry, I just can't stand it.

Phyllis: Okay, your turn, Oswald! You aren't getting away with this.

Oswald: (laughs) Okay. Hm.... I accidentally fed meat to a vegetaian and they loved it.

Phyllis: How did that happen? Surely they would have realised?

Oswald: Apparently not this guy! (laughs)

Misty: Was he drunk

Oswald: Nope. He was the designated driver. What happened was, I was having a barbecque over at my house and I'd bought vegetarian burgers for him, but I had beef burgers, but I also had lean beef burgers for a friend's wife.  I was cooking stuff up, I served everyone and the guy double checked it was vegetarian, sat down and told me these were the best vegetarian burgers he'd ever eaten. He asked me for the brand, so I went inside to check the fridge and there was sitting the vegetarian burger box, completely unopened and so I yelled "<expletive>!" and my wife comes running and I tell her, we have a bit of a laugh about it but thought we'd better go out and tell him. We go out and he's already helping himself to seconds. (laughs) He was eating the lean beef burgers! Oh man, I couldn't tell him in front of everyone, but I was so embarrassed! I knew I'd screw something up cooking three different burgers.

Luca: How did he react when you told him? You did tell him, right?

Oswald: Oh, yeah, I pulled him aside after most of the guests had left. He was mortified and looked like he was gonna hurl, but he accepted it was an accident and we've had quite a few laughs about it ever since. He supervises me cooking whenever we have a barbeque though! (laughs)

Jacob: That's hilarious. Poor dude! At least he took it in good spirits though.

Luca: Wow, that was fun, you guys!

Misty: Yeah, this has been such a relaxing afternoon. I doubt the guys on the reward had this much fun!

(As the group break down into casual chatter, the camera focuses on Misty, who is smiling.)

We were blown out in the Reward Challenge, so our spirits were a little down, and then we just decided to have our own reward by eating a whole coconut each and playing a game of "Confessions". It was a really relaxing afternoon. For that time being, no one's mind was on the game and we were just hanging out as people. It was fun to get to know them on a personal level like that. I mean, I've talked to Jacob a lot so feel I know him personally, I've talked personal life with Oswald and, to a lesser extent, Luca. I don't think I've had one non-game conversation with Phyllis, so it was nice to see her as a person rather than a player. I have to admit, this is one of my happiest memories out here. I've had so much fun and I've never eaten this much coconut at once in my life. I'll remember this fondly when all is said and done.

Misty Lamoureux

(Following Misty’s confessional, there is a timeskip. The castaways are relaxing in the shelter, except for Jacob, who is sitting in a chair, and Oswald, who is poking around at the fire to make it stronger. When he has finished, he pauses for a moment, then approaches Jacob.)

Oswald: Hey Jacob, can you and I head off for a chat?

Jacob: Depends, how far are you willing to carry me? (giggles) Nah, I’m kidding, let’s go .

(Jacob gets up from the chair and follows Oswald into the forest. The camera focuses on Oswald as he makes his way out of camp.)

With a little time to ourselves I thought I’d take Jacob aside and smooth things over after last night. I could tell he was pretty upset by us, as I would be, and that kinda got to me a little. I’m a dad to five children and I hate to see anyone upset, let alone have them feel that way ‘cause of something I did. I can tell Jacob’s trying his best to keep upbeat but there’s a little bit of a sparkle missing from his personality, that much I can tell. I’m hoping I’ll be able to apologise and at least make him feel a little better. That’s if he even believes me after all the lies our Trio have told him post-merge! (laughs)

Oswald Carter

(The camera picks up again as Jacob and Oswald have moved to the forest.)

Jacob: What’s up, dude?

Oswald: Well, I’m gonna cut right to it: I wanted to apologise to you about last night and all the other lies my alliance and I have told you.

Jacob: I appreciate it, but- please don’t take this the wrong way- is this Player Oswald or Real Oswald talking? ‘Cause, like, the former and I have a bit of a rocky history. For all I know, you could just be BS-ing me again.

Oswald: (laughs) I had a feeling you’d think that and I understand it completely, don’t worry. I can assure you this is Real Oswald. Look, I don’t know this game all too well because I’ve never seen an episode in my life, but what I do know is I hate seeing people upset. I know that we really hurt  you by lying and it was a damn stupid thing to do. I’m not gonna sugar coat it; we took advantage of you in both post-merge Tribals. It was rotten, I’d feel pretty crap if it was done to me, and I know how betrayed you feel. So I wanna tell you, man to man and friend to friend, that I am sorry.

Jacob Well, yeah, it really upset me a lot but I’ll get over it. Did you, like, talk to Celia and Maria before you did this?

Oswald: No, this is completely my own decision. Whether or not those two apologise is up to them, I won’t pressure them either way. I like your upbeat attitude, Jacob. It puts a smile on my face and same goes for a lot of people. I’d hate for you to be down because of something I did.

Jacob: Awww! I really appreciate it, dude. Seriously, like, thank you so much.

Oswald: You’re more than welcome. I hope this at least makes things less awkward between us.

Jacob: No doubt. Thanks again.

(Jacob and Oswald bro-hug before heading back to camp. The camera focuses on Jacob as he walks, a smile on his face.)

Oswald took me aside this afternoon and apologised for how he and his alliance treated me these last couple votes. For all I know he could just be BS-ing me for my vote again. I feel like he was being sincere this time, because if he is lying then he’s going to, like, massive extremes to make me feel comfortable and I just don’t think he’s that type of guy. I really appreciate that. He’s the only one of the three who’s said sorry to me for any of this and that makes me respect him a whole lot more. Do I trust him fully? Not exactly, but this goes a fair way towards getting that back.

Jacob Chapman

(Following Jacob's confessional, the camera changes focus back to camp. Luca, Misty and Phyllis are lying in the shelter Luca stands up.)

Luca: I gotta go to the bathroom. I'll be back shortly.

Phyllis: Okay. Bye, Luca.

(Luca leaves. When he is gone, Misty turns to Phyllis.)

Misty: Can you and I go for a walk? I'd like to talk to you.

Phyllis: Alright.

(The two of them walk out of camp. The camera focuses on Misty.)

Phyllis flipping pretty much saved my game last night, but I never actually got the chance to thank her because she was either too busy with Gombey, or there were too many people around and I could risk someone overhearing and discovering her, of course assuming she hasn't been discovered yet. It was such a relief to have the camp to ourselves because I've been waiting to have this conversation for a while now. I feel like her flip was an indication that Phyllis and I could work together. Last night showed me that Phyllis isn't comfortable in Gombey and is the kind of person who'll take the initiative and make moves. That being said, I'm just making assumptions here and for all I know, Phyllis could be back playing happy families with Gombey. I just need to pull her aside, find out where her head is at and hopefully be able to assess where the divide is in the game, so I can potentially bring people on board for what I think is the next logical step in this game.

Misty Lamoureux

(Following Misty’s confessional, the camera focuses on her and Phyllis as they begin discussions in the forest.)

Phyllis: So, what did you want to talk about?

Misty: Well first I just wanted to properly say thank you for flipping your vote last night. I get the feeling you’re trying to be discrete so I wanted to wait until we could go off alone.

Phyllis: You’re welcome. It’s not exactly a hard job to stay undercover though. One guess who is being blamed.

Misty: Veronica? (Phyllis nods) Thought so. That must be awful for her.

Phyllis: It is and I do feel bad for her, but emotions are high right now so I’m just glad it’s not me being blamed. It goes without saying, of course, that I ask you keep your knowledge of this to yourself, please.

Misty: Of course I will. Are things bad with Gombey now?

Phyllis: Not exactly, but they might be worse if I’m uncovered. Why?

Misty: The thing is, I think our next move should be to take someone from Somers out of the game, or at the very least, finally force Oswald’s idol out.

Phyllis: I couldn’t agree more. They seem to be getting tighter as the days go on. We can’t keep them in the game as a trio any longer or they’ll end up going to the end.

Misty: Exactly, but is Gombey stable enough to do that? We’d need all seven of us to be on the same page.

Phyllis: I think they are, with an obvious glaring question mark over Veronica. I think Luca and Adrian are locks to go along with that plan, though. My biggest worries are Veronica and Jacob using Somers to gain power, which they could easily do when we split the votes.

Misty: I wouldn’t worry about Jacob going with Somers for the time being considering they’ve crossed him twice. As for Veronica, I think either Will or I could reel her in.

Phyllis: Will would obviously be on board with the plan, given how hard he pushed for it at the previous two Tribals.

Misty: I wouldn’t be surprised if he was pushing it already on the reward. It seems like we have the potential for the seven to finally come together and take out a Somers. I just hope nothing stupid happens in between now and next Tribal, but knowing our luck, it probably will. (laughs)

Phyllis: You and me both. I’m really glad we had this conversation, Misty. It’s nice to know that two great minds are thinking alike!

(The two of them begin walking back to camp. The camera focuses on Phyllis as she does so, staring ahead with a thoughtful look on her face.)

With every single conversation she and I have, Misty proves to me that she is one of the smartest, socially aware and dangerous players left on this island. It’s scary that she just seems to know where everyone sits, have confidence things will work out and is always thinking ahead. That being said, I was relieved to see her smarts were being used to my advantage as we had the same idea of using our seven to finally eliminate one of the three Somers members, who are themselves becoming increasingly large threats in the game. I think splitting up that Trio will finally allow me to entertain the thought of working with Maria, which is something I’ve wanted to do for a long time. She’s a smart strategic player and has proven herself trustworthy by keeping my secret all this time. With only one additional number on her side, I think she’d be very open to the two of us forming a secret partnership and taking out the competition. But, of course, all that hinges on us being able to bring together this fractured group of seven. If we can’t mend those fractures, then before we know it, all our torches will be snuffed and we’ll be sitting on the Jury as the biggest group of idiots to ever play while Somers make up the Final Three. I can’t let that happen. I can’t afford for anything to go wrong from here until next Tribal.

Phyllis Carmichael

(Following Phyllis’ confessional, the camera picks up again as she and Misty arrive back at camp. Luca is waiting for them, having returned from his bathroom break.)

Luca: I was wondering where you two had gone to!

Phyllis: We just went for a walk, that’s all.

Luca: That sounds nice. (smiles) Misty, would you mind if Phyllis and I had a chat alone?

Misty: (smiles) Sure, I’ll just wait here.

Luca: Okay. Phyllis, would you come with me?

Phyllis: (a little taken aback) Sure.

(Phyllis and Luca leave the camp. The camera picks up again as she and Luca are out of Misty’s earshot.)

Phyllis: So, what did you want to talk to me about?

Luca: (a little awkwardly) Um, it’s a little serious, actually. Can we sit down?

Phyllis: (nervous as she and Luca sit) Luca, you’re starting to scare me a little bit here. What happened?

Luca: I think you know. I spoke with Veronica one on one and she insists she didn’t flip. She looked me directly in the eyes and told me she didn’t, even when I pressured her. I believe her.

Phyllis: So what does that mean?

Luca: It means… you flipped, didn’t you? Please tell me the truth.

Phyllis: (sigh) Okay, yes, I flipped last night. I voted Constance.

Luca: Why? I’m so confused. It doesn’t make sense to me. You weren’t on the bottom, we had a solid five person alliance. I can’t figure out why you’d do it.

Phyllis: Because I felt like if we went forward with the group now, that’s how things would have stuck, and then I wouldn’t have had a chance at making the end. Constance or Adrian would have won the last two immunity necklaces and I would have probably been taken out at fourth and I couldn’t do that. I’m sorry I didn’t tell the truth sooner, but emotions were so high.

Luca: Well… if you thought you weren’t going to make the end, I understand, but I wish you’d told the truth right away. Veronica went through so much unnecessarily.

Phyllis: I know and I felt bad, but I just couldn’t.

Luca: So, my fake idol… someone on Gombey has the real one. Whoever had it knew that I had a fake, too, and didn’t say anything. I could only figure out that the person who actually had it must have flipped, so I’ll ask you this: do you have the real Gombey idol?

Phyllis: (sigh) Yes, I’ve got the real thing.

Luca: (hurt) Wow… but why would you lie to me about it for so long? Even on Somers, when I showed you it, you said nothing.

Phyllis: Because I felt you’d want me to play it for our alliance, and I wanted it for myself just in case I needed it to make a move. That’s why I had to keep quiet when you showed the idol to the group, because if people knew, then it would be expected that I play the idol for them, so as much as it hurt to do, it had to be done.

Luca: Okay… I guess that makes sense, but I still wish you’d just told me. I could have kept it secret if you’d just asked! You know I would have! I gave my loyalty to you and that’s where it’s sticking, and it honestly really hurts that you didn’t have that faith in me.

Phyllis: I’m so sorry, Luca. I was paranoid and overthinking things and I just didn’t want to take any risks. Where does this leave us?

Luca: Well, I’m obviously pretty hurt that you lied to me so much and for so long, but I’m not going to turn on Gombey and that includes you, if you still want to work with Gombey. If not, then, unfortunately my loyalty will lie with them.

Phyllis: Yeah, I’m sticking with Gombey now because I feel like it’s best, but do you think we could keep the idol and flipping between us? I know it’s a bit much to ask, but I’d appreciate it.

Luca: Well, Adrian’s already figured it out that you flipped, but not that you have the idol. I can keep that secret from him, and I think I can keep both from Veronica. I don’t like lying, but I feel she’d split from us if she knew.

Phyllis: Exactly. Thank you so much, Luca, and again I’m so sorry for all this but I did have reasons.

Luca: I understand. Just don’t do that to me again, okay?

(Phyllis nods. The two of them walk back to camp. The camera focuses on Luca, who has an incredibly saddened expression on his face, which he tries to hide.)

I can’t believe that Phyllis lied to me for so long. I’m beginning to feel more and more like a moron, because I’m putting unquestionable faith in these people and just finding out they’re all going behind my back. (sigh) I think I just underestimated this show and how much people lie and thought that it wouldn’t be much different to real life. This is a huge wake up call for me. I’m really hurt by what Phyllis did, but she did have her reasons I suppose, and I’ll always stay loyal to Gombey. As long as Phyllis is too, I’ll be loyal to her. What would be the point of alienating her for lying? It would put me in a worse position and it would be an emotional decision. I have to remain focused and just hope things turn out the way I want. If I lose hope, then what else do I have?

Luca Enmore

(The camera then changes to Phyllis, who takes a deep breath.)

I was shocked that Luca wanted to talk one-on-one with me, but I was stunned when he not only asked me if I’d flipped, but also if I held the idol. He’d completely figured me out, so of course I had to tell the truth. If I continued to lie, the truth would come out anyway and then I’d be in a horrible position and completely burn him. I’m nervous now because it’s out there that I’ve lied. Adrian figured it out, too, but if Veronica does then all Hell will break loose. It’s one small thing but now I feel my game is starting to unravel. I’m sitting very precariously right now. I just hope we can keep the remaining Gombey members together long enough to eliminate someone from Somers, or I may be in grave danger.

Day 24[]

Vireo Tribe[]

The camera opens on the morning of Day 24 as the sun has just risen, with most of the castaways still asleep in the shelter. The exception to this is Celia, who is sitting outside to the right  of the shelter clutching a long stick. Sleeping in the edge of the shelter, closest to Celia, is Maria. Smiling and trying to stifle giggles, she pokes Maria hard with the stick once. Maria grunts and shuffles away, but Celia pokes her with the stick again. As she reaches to do so a third time, Maria's eyes snap open and she grips the stick firmly, before looking over to Celia.

Maria: What do you want?

Celia: Get up, we need to go somewhere.

Maria: (sighs, quietly slides out of the shelter) You know, there's a such thing as waking me quietly.

Celia: Where would the fun in that be?

Maria: What do you want?

Celia: We need to go looking for the idol!

Maria: Oh, uh....

Celia: Come on, let's do it while everyone else is asleep! We could easily find it!

Maria: Uh, sure, let's go.

This morning, Celia woke me up wanting to look for the idol and I had to go along because I couldn't think of any viable excuse not to. I know for a fact we aren't going to find it because I've already got it, but of course Celia doesn't know that and she can't. I feel awful that I'm basically leading her out to search for nothing and she's going to be so hurt when she finds out the truth, but I've made my bed and now I have to lie in it. I can't let emotions get in the way or have any doubt I made the right call.

Maria Ortiz

(The camera then picks up on them as they head down to the beach.)

Celia: Okay, so I'm not sure how you couldn't find the idol because this clue seems pretty straightforward. It basically leads you right to the beach and water.

Maria: Well, appearances can be deceiving.

Celia: Surely two people can find it. Come on, let's start looking!

The two of them head off in different directions, Celia heading over towards some rocks on the beach near the water, while Maria goes in the other direction, pretending to be invested in looking. After Celia goes over to Maria's side and still finds nothing, she walks over the rock that branches out into the water and flops onto it.

Celia: (slow and dramatic) I give up!

Maria: Giving up already?

Celia: No. (She gets off the rock and lies down at the waters' edge, getting slightly wet as the water laps the shore) I give up!

Maria: What?

Celia: Well, I can't find it, and in movies, when they can't find things they say something like "I give up!" or "we'll never find it!" and I was sort of hoping that would work here. (laughs)

Maria: (chuckles) Fair enough.

Celia: (going deeper into the water) I give up!

As Maria watches from the shore, laughing, Celia continues to say "I give up!" after every unsuccessful search, before she finds the opening in the rock.

Celia: Oh my God, I think it might have actually worked!

She reaches deep into the opening, then going even deeper in the water to reach the bottom of the opening, and still finds nothing.

Celia: Okay, I think I might actually have to give up. I've looked everywhere. Where have they hidden this thing? At the bottom of the <expletive> ocean. Yeah, I'm not drowning myself trying to get it. An immunity idol would be so useful to me if I was dead. What am I gonna do, rise out of my grave as a zombie all, "Brains.... I'm playing an idol... must eat brains..." <expletive> no.

Maria: (laughs) I'm gonna be imagining that all day now. I told you the clue was hard!

Celia: Yeah, but that's ridiculous. I looked everywhere around this area and couldn't find anything! We should get back to camp before people notice us, because the last thing I want is for people to start wondering where we've been.

Maria: Yeah, that's a good idea.

(As the two women head back to camp, the camera focuses on an annoyed Celia.)

Are these clues the hardest in the world or am I literally just stupid? This is the second idol clue I've had in this game and I haven't even come close to finding any! What the <expletive>? This is starting to get really embarrassing. I looked everywhere this idol could possibly be and I really thought I could get it, but apparently not! I don't know where it is. It's probably at the bottom of the ocean. I'm really pissed off that I couldn't find it because I could really <expletive> use it now. Ugh. If I end up going because I couldn't find a stupid idol I'm going to kick myself so hard, but I have literally no idea where it could be hiding!

Celia Mosteller

Immunity Challenge[]

Jeff: Come on in, guys!

(The castaways walk in and notice the grates out on the ocean as they stand on their mat.)

Jacob: Oh, boy, that doesn't look good!

Jeff: You guys ready to get to today's immunity challenge?

Castaways: Yes!

Jeff: First thing's first, Maria, I'll have to take it back.

Maria: (laughing) As long as you bring it back.

Jeff: (taking the immunity necklace back) Immunity is once again back up for grabs. Today's challenge is simply going to be a test of just how much you want to win. You will swim under a steel grate and stay there for as long as you can. As the tide rises, there will be less breathing room, making it more difficult. If it gets too much for you, you can swim up and you'll be out of the challenge. Last person still in the grate wins immunity and a one in nine shot at winning the game. We'll draw for spots and then we'll get started.

(The castaways are awaiting Jeff's signal)

Jeff: For immunity... this challenge is now on.

Challenge Summary:

  • Jacob is the first to drop out, going very early in the challenge. As he swims up,. he says, "that's freaky, guys."
  • Luca, Veronica and Phyllis also drop out early, unable to take the fear.
  • As the tide rises, making it difficult for all the competition, Adrian and Misty start to struggle. As her space lessens, Misty becomes too freaked out to continue, swimming up. Shortly afterward, Adrian backs out of the challenge too.
  • This leaves Oswald, Celia, Maria and Will as the final four. As the tide gets even higher and the tide begins to go over her face, Celia can take no more and drops out.
  • The tide continues to rise as the final three stubbornly hang in there. As the minimal breathing room gets even smaller, Will finally cracks and rises to the surface, leaving Maria and Oswald as the final two. They remain there for a while as the tide still rises and the breathing room becomes almost non-existent. In a sheer battle of will vs. fear, they continue to go until, suddenly, Maria can't take it anymore and has to swim up.

Jeff: This challenge is over. Oswald wins immunity! Someone swim down and let him know.

(As Maria tries to get her breath back, Will jumps in to let Oswald know he's won. Oswald resurfaces, smiling, and swims over to hug Maria.)

Oswald: Sorry about that.

Maria: It's okay, you earned it.

(There is a timeskip. The castaways are on a platform.)

Jeff: Oswald, come get it!

(Oswald swims over to Jeff and Jeff places the immunity necklace around him.)

Jeff: Oswald is safe and now has a one in nine shot at winning this game. For the rest of you, after twenty-four days, someone will be the ninth person voted out and the third member of the Jury. You have the afternoon to figure out who that's going to be. You guys can head back to camp. I'll see you at Tribal.

(The castaways begin swimming back to shore. The camera focuses on Oswald, who has a huge smile on his face, before fading away.)

Vireo Tribe []

(Following Oswald's immunity win, the castaways return to camp.)

Celia: Congratulations, Oswald!

Misty: Yeah, great job.

Oswald: Thanks!

Maria: Congratulations, you really earned it. We were there for a long time.

Oswald: Thanks, Maria. Sorry that it's not around your neck tonight.

Maria: (laughs) Oswald, you just won immunity. You don't need to apologise for it. It's seriously fine, I'm not bothered.

Oswald: Well I'm glad.

(Oswald hangs his necklace outside the shelter. The camera focuses on Maria, who sighs.)

Tonight is my first night so far without the immunity necklace and, after winning two immunities and almost single-handedly winning tribal challenges, I think it's safe to say anyone with half a functioning brain cell is going to be getting rid of me tonight. (laughs) Considering no one has shown any sort of interest in strategising us, I think the votes are going to be split between Celia and I, with me getting four. I do have my idol but I want to avoid using it unless absolutely necessary. The plus side is, it will take literally one person to flip and then we've got the upper hand. The only question is, is there anyone out there who'd even think about it? Whatever happens, I cannot go home tonight, and I'll do everything to make sure I stay. I don't care whose torch is snuffed, as long as it's not mine.

Maria Ortiz

(Following this, the group begins to disperse. Veronica walks up to the other Gombey members.)

Veronica: I need to talk with you four, now!

(As the Gombey Four begin to walk away, Will approaches them.)

Will: We need to-

Veronica: Go away, Will! I'm talking to them.

(Will rolls his eyes as Veronica hurriedly storms away with the Gombey group. The camera focuses on her as she is fuming.)

So, on reward yesterday, I found out that Phyllis was the one who flipped and that cowardly bitch stood back and let me take the blame for it! That is the most disgusting thing that anyone could ever do, sit by and stay silent when they know the accused is innocent! I am so pissed. I knew Phyllis didn't like me but I didn't think she would stoop that low! I'm exposing her to Luca because he has a right to see how much of a deceptive snake she is, and then I am demanding an apology. She threw me under the bus and she is not getting away with it. I might just vote her out tonight! That would teach her a lesson for her betrayal. She absolutely does not deserve to be here if she's going to run around doing that to people!

Veronica O'Hara

(Following Veronica’s confessional, the camera picks up as she leads the Gombey Four to a private area in the forest before turning to face them.)

Phyllis: Veronica, what’s going on?

Veronica: (pointing at Phyllis) I want you to explain to everyone why you’re such a lying bitch!

Luca: (gasps) Veronica!

Veronica: She is! Will told me that she flipped, yet when I stood there getting accused for something I was completely innocent of, she kept silent!

Phyllis: Will told you that?

Veronica: Stop evading it. It doesn’t matter who told me. What matters is you tell me why you lied.

Phyllis: Before I could even say anything, everyone was already jumping down your throat and emotions were so high. I wanted to wait until everyone calmed down.

Veronica: Ha! Bull! So you were just happy to stand there and let me take the blame?

Phyllis: Veronica, I felt horrible about it all, but as I said-

Veronica: If you truly felt horrible you would have said something! I hate this so much. You were the one who suggested Will in the first place because he was a flipper and you were pissed off with him, You’re such a hypocrite! Why the Hell did you do it?

Phyllis: After I looked over the situation, I didn’t feel comfortable going to the end with the group as a five, but now that we’re four, I’m perfectly fine. My intention is to fully stick to Gombey.

Veronica: Which is exactly what you said last time, before you flipped.

Phyllis: I mean it!

Luca: (trying to switch topics) So we’re all agreed to sticking together, right? I feel like the only people I can trust are you guys. We might need to use Somers to take out another threat. Misty and Will are quite close. Maybe one of them?

Phyllis: I think it would be best for us to take out Will.

Veronica: What a surprise.

Phyllis: Seriously, he’s shown that by revealing things, he’s erratic and untrustworthy, so he’s impossible to work with. Also, he’s not going to trust any of us again since we’ve already voted for him.

Adrian: (shakes head) Negative. I believe we must devise a scheme as a collective block of seven with the intent of eliminating Maria or Celia, for they are substantial physical threats. Regardless of William’s erratic nature, one must surely prioritise a Somers elimination. Allowing all three of them to remain active competitors enables control over 33% of the votes. With our strategic partnership controlling 44% of the votes, there would be plausible motivation for William and Misty to form a temporary partnership with Somers to neutralise us and weaken our standing in the competition. If I were in a similar situation to them, I would be incredibly hesitant to allow a strategic partnership of four individuals to exist when there are only eight active competitors remaining.

Luca: That’s a pretty good argument too, Adrian, and I see what you’re saying. It might be dangerous to let the three Somers go forward, but we’ll have to see if Will is still wanting to work with us.

Adrian: I am certain he will, due to the mutual benefits. If William were to enable the three Somers individuals to the final nine, then utilised them to eliminate a Gombey, all three of them would advance to the final seven. With one Hidden Immunity Idol in Oswald’s possession, and the unaccounted variable of the unknown location of the merge’s Hidden Immunity Idol, there is the highly credible probability that their strategic partnership could monopolise all forms of immunity. One individual emerging victorious in the challenge, then utilising both Hidden Immunity Idols would ensure safety and subsequently ensure their control over 50% of the votes. In summation, it is essential that we remove one of them from the competition and failure to do so would lead to the inevitable destruction of our chances of emerging victorious.

Phyllis: You say that, but it all means nothing if Will isn’t willing to work with us. Given what he did, it’s difficult to trust anything that comes out of his mouth.

Luca: Well, let’s say Will for now, but if Will approaches us, we’ll re-evaluate. Sound good to everyone?

(The four of them nod, then begin heading back to camp. The camera focuses on Luca, who sighs with relief.)

Phew! I really managed to diffuse a potential situation there. I have confidence that the four of us are going to stick together now, but we have conflicting views on what we should do next. Phyllis thinks we should vote for Will, which I understand given that he put her in a bad position. He might not want to work with us after we voted for him. I’m very forgiving of that sort of stuff, but I know others aren’t, and Will might launch some sort of revenge scheme to knock one of us out. If that’s the case, we’d be forced to use- oh no, wait, that sounds horrible, scratch that- we’d have to plead our case to Somers and hope they side with us in eliminating him. However, Adrian wants a Somers gone because they could take control of the game, and I certainly see his point after he explained it so brilliantly. If we don’t stop them soon, they’ll get so deep in the competition that we won’t be able to! Oh my, that would be quite an achievement on their part, wouldn’t it? Of course, what we do depends on if Will wants to work with us. I’m not sure what’s going to happen at this stage.

Luca Enmore

(Following Luca’s confessional, the four of them are shown walking, before Adrian signals to Luca and Veronica.)

Adrian: Luca, Veronica, may I privately converse with Phyllis?

Luca: Sure. Come on, Veronica, let’s go.

(Luca and Veronica walk ahead. Phyllis looks back nervously at Adrian.)

Phyllis: There’s been a lot of private conversations with me the past few days. I’m starting to get nervous.

Adrian: Alleviate your fearful state, Phyllis. This conversation shall only be brief. I am not experiencing feelings of anger.

Phyllis: Okay, that’s a relief. What did you want to talk about?

Adrian: Yesterday, Luca and I engaged in a conversation regarding the discovery that his Hidden Immunity Idol was counterfeit. We were able to infer that it was highly plausible that the individual in possession of the authentic Hidden Immunity Idol also deviated from our strategic partnership. Thus, upon learning that you were the one responsible for Constance’s elimination, I naturally concluded that you were also in possession of the Hidden Immunity Idol. Thus, I request you respond sincerely: are you?

Phyllis: (sigh) Yes, Adrian, I have the real thing.

Adrian: And when did you discover it?

Phyllis: Before our first Tribal Council. So, yes, I had it when you and Constance flipped the vote against Gary.

Adrian: I see.

Phyllis: You’re not going to tell Veronica, are you?

Adrian: Negative, Veronica will not be knowledgeable to this information. However, I must emphasise that my decision is not tailored to your benefit, but mine. I am aware of what actions need to be taken and shall not jeopardise them by invoking yet another of Veronica’s tumultuous emotional breakdowns.

Phyllis: Okay, thank you. Are you and Luca the only ones who know?

Adrian: Affirmative. I will not inform anyone else.

Phyllis: Thank you, Adrian.

(The two of them then head back to camp. The camera focuses on Adrian as they walk.)

Being informed that Phyllis was in possession of the Hidden Immunity Idol was not flabbergasting to me as I had previously deduced it. The incurrence of vexation within me is on account of Phyllis’ treachery against Constance and I, who were directly responsible for her remaining in the competition. I am understanding of her desire to withhold the information of her immunity from us as a precautionary measure. After reiterating the strategic partnership between us countless times, including one instance on the afternoon of Constance’s elimination, however, it is hurtful that we remained unenlightened of her discovery. I am willing to continue investing my trust in Phyllis and for the benefit of myself and our strategic partnership, I shall withhold knowledge of her Hidden Immunity Idol from any individual who is not already informed. I am hopeful that Phyllis’ interests will align with our current strategic partnership, but I shall be watchful and wary of any future signs of deviation.

Adrian Redford

(Following Adrian’s confessional, the camera picks up again as they arrive back to camp, where Will is impatiently waiting with Luca, Veronica, Misty and Jacob.)

Will: Finally. Come on, we need to talk.

(Will takes the group to a private area.)

Will: Okay, everyone listen. We need to put aside whatever differences we have, come together and use our seven votes to get a Somers out of the game.

Jacob: Dude, you say that, but should we really believe you? I mean, half the people here have voted for you twice and I’ve voted for you three times. What’s to say this isn’t another cover to do something else?

Luca: We’re a little hesitant because this is exactly the premise you’ve given us the last two Tribals and something completely different has happened.

Will: Okay, firstly, the only reason I went against those plans is because other people went against them and targeted me. Secondly, listen to me, all of you: I don’t give a <expletive> that you voted for me! We need to come together and take out a Somers now or they will be the ones running the game! Okay?

Jacob: Okay, if you say so.

Will: I’ve talked to Adrian and Veronica about this already. They know this is what I want and I’m not going to be stupid enough to play emotionally. I know what needs to be done and I’m doing it. If you don’t believe me, by all means, go against me. There’ll be a seat waiting for you on the Jury while Somers make up the final three. Now, can we put aside this stupid “Gombey against everyone else” and all this emotional <expletive> for the time being and just make the strategic move that should have been done two rounds ago? <expletive> me.

Adrian: I am happy to involve myself with a scheme to eliminate the Somers individuals. I concur that it must happen tonight.

Misty: Yeah, I’m on board too.

Jacob: Alright, you seem legit, so count me in.

(As the rest of the group nod their approval, Will smiles.)

Will: Good, there’s finally some intelligence around here. We know there’s an idol on their side, so the safest thing is to split votes. Everyone agrees Maria is the biggest threat, right? (The group nod) Good. Four votes on Maria, three on Celia. Let’s make this as simple as possible. Gombey can vote for Maria. Does anyone have a problem with that? (They are silent) Good, because you shouldn’t. Okay, the plan is in place. And so <expletive> help me, if any of you break it, I’m holding you personally responsible for destroying all seven of our games.

(The group begin to break apart. The camera focuses on Will, who is smiling confidently.)

Finally, <expletive> finally, these people seem to have enough intelligence about them to do what has to be done. I think we’re about to get rid of a Somers. This is the simplest plan in the world: four on Maria, three on Celia, so the only thing that could save them is having both idols, or someone in the group of seven being a monumental idiot. As long as Luca manages to keep Veronica on a leash, though, there should be no problems with the latter. I can’t see anything going wrong with this plan unless someone has a death wish. If someone from Somers doesn’t go tonight, they’ll end up making the final three, I just know it. Surely there’s no one out there who'd pursue a selfish vendetta and burn the games of seven people. No one can be that stupid, not even Veronica.

Will Donovan

(As they begin to disperse, Jacob approaches Adrian.)

Jacob: You got a sec?

Adrian: Affirmative.

Jacob: Do you mind if we swap? I’ll vote Maria and you vote Celia. I just really don’t want to write Celia’s name down. I know she’s betrayed me twice, but we got close personally and, uh, I’d rather write down Maria. I didn’t wanna say anything in front of Will because… you know why.

Adrian: (nods) Affirmative. I will assign my vote to Celia and you shall vote for Maria in my place.

Jacob: Alright, cool. Thanks, buddy.

(Jacob walks away. The camera focuses on him as his confessional is heard over the top.)

Will seems cool for the time being, so I’m probably gonna go along with his plan tonight. Don’t get me wrong, I like Somers and they’re my friends, but they betrayed me twice already so I don’t think I can believe them anymore. Will’s completely right when he says they could go to the end if they’re intact after tonight. I guess I would have just been the fourth in their alliance. (sigh) The plan was that Stovel would vote for Celia, but she’s the one I’m closest to out here aside from, like, maybe Adrian or Misty, so I didn’t feel comfortable voting for her. I went up to Adrian, asked him to swap, and now I’m voting for Maria. Adrian’s such a cool guy. He did that without even thinking twice about it. I don’t know many people who would do that. It shows that he’s starting to see me as a friend rather than an ally and that makes me feel great.

Jacob Chapman

(Following Jacob’s confessional, the camera transitions to Adrian as he catches up to the Gombey Four.)

Phyllis: What did Jacob want?

Adrian: He requested that he be relieved of his requirement to vote for Celia and that he instead replace me as one of the four Maria votes. I accepted. Thus, I am now voting for Celia whilst the rest of you conform to William’s specifications and vote for Maria.

Luca: Okay, that sounds great. It looks like Will’s working with us, so are we all agreed on following through with this split?

Adrian: Affirmative. As I reasoned before, I believe it would be severely detrimental and destructive to our survival in the competition to deviate from this scheme.

Phyllis: If it’s what you guys want, sure.

Luca: Alright, so we’re keeping with this, then.

Veronica: (sigh) Fine.

Luca: (looks at Veronica, then turns to Adrian and Phyllis) Can you guys walk ahead?

(Adrian and Phyllis nod and disappear from earshot. Luca pauses and instructs Veronica to stop before talking quietly with her.)

Luca: I know you don’t trust Phyllis, but I really need you to stick with this vote tonight. Please don’t do anything else. Like Will said, it’s not about your own game anymore: it’s about all seven of us.

Veronica: Okay.

Luca: I’m serious, please don’t try and do anything with Somers. We need this to work, Veronica. Will said it best; we need to put emotions aside and just do what needs to be done.

Veronica: Alright! I’ll vote for Maria.

Luca: Good. Thank you.

(The two of them walk in the direction of Adrian and Phyllis. The camera focuses on Veronica, who is looking annoyed.)

I’m so annoyed I can’t vote out Phyllis anymore. The fact that stupid snake is going to just get away with what she did because everyone wants to stick with Gombey makes me sick. Apparently, though, everyone’s convinced the Somers Three are going to the final three if we don’t break them tonight, so that means anyone who breaks from the plan is destroying everyone else’s games. They already hates me anyway, so it’s not like I can make this any worse for myself, but the only reason I’m sticking to this plan is Luca. He’s been with me since day one and has been the only person constantly there as my friend and shoulder to cry on. He doesn’t deserve to his game screwed over; in fact he’s the only one here who deserves to win. Everyone can thank Luca, because if he was gone, I’d be flipping to Somers in a heartbeat.

Veronica O’Hara

(Following Veronica’s confessional, the camera transitions to the Somers Trio as they converse on the beach.)

Celia: So, no one’s come up to us, looks like it’s 7-3 and we completely <expletive> up.

Maria: Which means they’re probably splitting 4-3-3, four for me and three for you.

Celia: Ugh! If only we’d found the idol, then all of us could be safe and we could just get rid of whoever we wanted.

Oswald: It looks like our only option is to try and flip one person to make ourselves a four. Who do you think we should vote for and who should we flip?

Maria: We could probably go after Will again. That guy seems like a heat magnet and pisses off people wherever he goes.

Celia: Then we should flip Jacob. He’s voted for Will three times now and doesn’t even like him. If he thinks Will’s going to work with him, he needs a wake-up call.

Oswald: I’m not sure how well Jacob’s going to receive us after we betrayed him twice, especially that last one. We should have a plan B, perhaps going to Phyllis? She flipped last round because she knew we were and I think there’s some sort of trust there.

Celia: Okay, good. Let’s go find Jacob.

(The camera picks up again as the Somers Trio find Jacob and approach him. They request a private conversation, which he grants, and the four of them walk off into a secluded area.)

Jacob: What’s up, guys?

Celia: We’re going to vote for Will tonight. You should as well.

Jacob: Um… Yeah, I’m not gonna do that.

Celia: (annoyed) What? Why!? You’ve voted for him three times. He’s not going to go far with you. Take him out while you can!

Jacob: Uh, why not? Let me think… You guys completely betrayed me last Tribal for no reason whatsoever. Whenever I needed your help, you guys went against me and lied about it, but now that you need my help, you suddenly want to work with me, if you’re telling the truth at all. That’s kinda not how it works.

Celia: Ugh! Jacob, we’re telling the truth and it’d be stupid for you to keep Will in!

Jacob: I like you guys, I think you’re cool, and I really wanted to work with you both of the last Tribals but you kinda just said “screw it” and left me for dead. Like, the only reason I voted for Will both of those times is ‘cause you said you were on board. I think it’d be more stupid of me to go along with this and blindly trust a group who have done nothing but lie to my face for, like, a week straight.

Celia: Jacob! <expletive>! Why can’t you just listen?

Jacob: Girl, you need to listen. Y’all literally came right up to me last round, said y’all were voting Will and then voted for Constance. If you’d said you were voting Constance I could have gone along with it and then I might be down for working today, but y’all chose to do what you did. And now it hasn’t worked out, you just suddenly decide that we’re working together aaaaand I’m not doing that.

Celia: <expletive> sake, so you’re just not going to work with us? That’s it?

Jacob: Nope, and I’m sorry, ‘cause I like y’all, but I don’t wanna be screwed again. Even if I did go with y’all tonight, you’d just dump me whenever you didn’t need me anymore. If you manage to find someone to flip it then well done, but it’s not gonna be me.

Celia: <expletive> it, fine then, but don’t come crying when Will boots your ass and puts you on the Jury!

(Jacob says nothing as Celia storms off in a huff, Maria following her.)

Oswald: (guiltily looking at Jacob) Sorry about that.

Jacob: It’s cool, dude, she’s just mad. I’m sorry I can’t help you, but I don’t feel comfortable after last Tribal.

Oswald: I understand. Thank you.

(Oswald walks away to join the Somers Trio as Jacob heaves a deep sigh.)

Jacob: I need water.

(Jacob heads back to camp, the camera focusing on his slightly annoyed expression.)

That conversation kinda annoyed me a little. Somers came up to me all like, “Yo, let’s vote Will, you’re on the bottom and we finally wanna work with you”, and I expected them to try and flip me. I told them that I couldn’t trust a group of people who deliberately put me in a bad position and lied to my face when there was no need and that I wasn’t gonna vote with them tonight because I didn’t wanna get screwed. Oswald was all good about it, but boy did that piss Celia off. She literally started, like, yelling at the top of her voice, telling me I’m stupid for keeping Will in and I need to listen and just go with her. I know she’s mad, but, like, girl, y’all expect me to just put trust in the same people who screwed me two rounds in a row? I like them, but I’m just not prepared to do that, especially when they’ve shown all they do is look out for themselves and they’d leave when they didn’t need me anymore. I’m not voting for Celia and she’s staying, and that’s all I’m doing to help her situation. I’m not gonna wreck my game anymore than it already has been.

Jacob Chapman

(After Jacob’s confessional, the camera changes focus to Celia, who is storming back down the beach angrily.)

Celia: <expletive>! I can’t believe this!

(As Celia continues to walk angrily, her confessional is heard over the top.)

I can’t believe Jacob isn’t going to work with us! I mean, how stupid is it that he wants to stick to a plan that’s going to get one of us- people who are willing to work with him- over Will, someone who doesn’t even like Jacob, and Jacob has voted for three times? He’s just mad that I lied to him and he’s not thinking clearly, being petty and just taking revenge. What he said, like, “you guys just suddenly decide you want to work with me because you need my help”, that pissed me off so much. He better have fun on the Jury because that’s where he’s gonna end up! Ugh. I l like Jacob, we’re friends, but he’s just going to leave me in the dark when he should have my back and I’m really mad about it!

Celia Mosteller

(Following this, the camera picks up again as the Somers Trio return to the top of the beach.)

Celia: So Jacob’s not working with us. What the Hell are we meant to do now?

Oswald: We’ll have to talk with Phyllis.

Maria: I’ll go talk with her, I think she trusts me the most and will probably get a little intimidated by the three of us. I’ll come back with whatever she says.

Oswald: Okay, if you think that’s best, then go ahead.

Maria: Alright, I’ll be back.

(Maria leaves the group to find Phyllis. The camera focuses on her as she walks, her confessional heard over the top.)

I’m very aware that my back is against the wall right now. There’s no doubt that I’m being the four in a 4-3-3 split and I’m going home unless I could end all this, of course, by going back to the group, revealing my idol and saving all three of us, but I feel like that might not be in my best interests. I think that would only increase my target and I think it’s going to stay increased if I stick with Somers. I’m sorry, but it’s the truth. Do I trust these guys? Yes. Am I going to get to the end with them? No. Maybe they’re doing my game more harm than good. At the end of the day, I have to look out for myself above all else. I think my best move is to go to Phyllis and have someone flip their vote to Celia and keep me, or if worse comes to worse, flip my own vote against her. It would hurt, because Celia’s my friend and I promised my loyalty to her and Oswald, but at this stage, loyalty gets you a nice, warm shower at Ponderosa, and that’s where I’m headed tonight unless I do something. I’m more than happy to have the longest, warmest shower in the world when I arrive at Ponderosa after Final Tribal Council, but until then I’m playing a game for a million dollars and I have to set emotions aside to keep myself safe.

Maria Ortiz

(The camera picks up as Maria and Phyllis walk to the water well.)

Maria: So, I was thinking: you kept my secret, I kept yours. We always said we wanted to work together and I think tonight’s the night. Are you willing to do that?

Phyllis: I’m grateful for that. What do you want me to do, though? Flip and side with Somers? I’m not sure if I should do that. Things are a little rocky.

Maria: Well, not exactly. First off, can you tell me how the split vote’s going? I won’t tell this to the others. They don’t even know I’m having this conversation with you. They think I’m flipping you.

Phyllis: This is the play I admire you for. (laughs) Okay, so the split vote is going four for you, three for Celia. Luca, Veronica, Jacob and I are down to vote for you, and Adrian, Misty and Will are voting for Celia.

Maria: I see. Do you think you could flip  to Celia and keep me around?

Phyllis: I don’t know, honestly. I’m worried about the Three, but obviously if you’re here talking to me, it sounds like you want to break.

Maria: I’ll do what I have to do. I’ll switch my vote to Celia if it means saving myself, but sending her home is going to leave a very bitter taste in her mouth and I’d rather not completely burn her.

Phyllis: Yes, I understand that, but it might be difficult for me to flip my vote. People know that I flipped last Tribal because Will ratted me out to them. If I did it again, I could wind up in serious trouble.

Maria: I see. That’s a pretty bad position to be in.

Phyllis: Exactly. Who are you guys voting for?

Maria: I swear we’re not making this up: Will.

Phyllis: Seriously?

Maria: I mean, would you be up for it?

Phyllis: I’d entertain it. Will leaked me being the flipper so him staying is detrimental to my game as he could do the exact same thing over and over. He’s definitely one of the people I trust the least in this game and having him out would be a huge weight lifted off my shoulders.

Maria: So that’s a yes?

Phyllis: I don’t know. I want him out, yes, but I flipped last vote. If I flip again, it could be rocky. I want you to stay because I know I could work with you over Celia, but again, if I switch my vote, it could be quite messy. I might get by if people are still worried about Somers but I'd burn quite a lot of trust. If you flipped your vote to Celia, we could make it a 4-4-2.

Maria: I’d rather not do that, but I will if I have to. Do you think I’d stay on the revote?

Phyllis: I won’t lie, there are a couple who are adamant you go, but I think I could switch them. The main goal is to break up the Somers Trio and if you break from that, you’re likely to stay.

Maria: See, this is where it gets difficult, because if there’s people adamant I go, then I might. If you want me to stay, you’ll have to switch your vote to Celia, or vote for Will with us. As I said, I’ll 100% vote for Celia if I have to.

Phyllis: I know. It would be much easier to just flip my vote, but I could get into a lot of trouble. I’d love to vote out Will just to get a huge target out. I’m in a sticky situation here. Look, I have no idea what I’m going to do. I do want you to stay, so I’ll think over it and get back to you, okay?

Maria: Alright.

(As they continue talking, the camera focuses on Maria.)

The conversation with Phyllis got me a lot of information but it was very frustrating. Phyllis is in a really difficult situation because she wants me to stay, but she doesn’t want to flip because she’s done it before and things are already rocky. I sympathise with that, and I’d be the same in that position, but it’s putting me in a difficult spot, too. I don’t know whether she’s going to keep her vote at me and make me flip my vote on Celia- which would be a disaster even if it’s necessary- and hope to stay in a tie, flip her vote to Celia so I stay, or vote Will with us so we all stay! It’s irritating for me too, because I feel like I could just save myself with my idol, but if I play it, then Celia gets one played on her, and I’m in a spot where all three of us are safe with both our idols gone and I’ve got an even bigger target. I suppose that’s better than going in a re-vote with it in my pocket, but I need to know what Phyllis is doing so I can make my decision.

Maria Ortiz

Phyllis: I’m sorry that I can’t give you a definitve answer. This is a huge move for me.

Maria: Don’t worry, I get it. I just really want to work with you, and I know you do too.

(As Phyllis is about to respond, Jacob approaches the water well with his canteen.)

Jacob: Oh, hey, you two!

(Jacob’s presence catches both women off guard and they freeze awkwardly.)

Jacob: Hey, don’t stop ‘cause of me. I’m not gonna rat you out to Will, don’t worry. I don’t play like that.

Phyllis: Oh, okay… What was it you were saying, Maria?

(Giving the women a confused look, Jacob goes about filling his canteen, while Maria thinks of what to say next.)

Maria: Um, as I was saying, I think it’d be best for you to vote out Will, because he’s incredibly dangerous and you know he has a knack of things getting back to him. He’s impossible to get rid of and if you don’t do it now, you never will.

Phyllis: Okay… sure, I’ll think about that.

(Jacob finishes filling up his canteen.)

Jacob: Okay, bye!

(As Jacob walks away, canteen in hand, the camera focuses on the confused look on his face.)

Woah, I just walked up on a huge strategy talk! I was going to the water well to fill up my canteen and I saw Phyllis and Maria talking. When I got there, they froze. I thought Maria was just going to Phyllis to flip her against Will, so I was just like, “continue your conversation, I won’t rat you out,” but that whole talk seemed super improvised, and I did drama at school so I totally know a thing or two about improvisation. (giggles, then sighs) I can’t help but feel Maria’s working out a way to save herself and is going to turn against Celia. I really want Celia to stay, but if Phyllis is flipping her vote, or Maria’s flipping hers, I need to get Celia to vote against Maria. She won’t want to, but I’m sure if I tell her about this conversation, she’ll believe me. She and I are on a bit of a bad note right now, but she shouldn’t ignore evidence, right?

Jacob Chapman

(Following Jacob’s confessional, the camera goes back to Phyllis and Maria.)

Phyllis: Good job.

Maria: Hopefully he bought it. Just let me know what you’re going to do, okay?

Phyllis: I will.

(Following this, there is a transitioning natue shot as the camera changes focus to the beach, where Jacob is leading Celia.)

Celia: So, you want to talk to me? You’re finally coming to your senses and you’re about to tell me you’re flipping.

Jacob: No, actually… I think you need to flip your vote to Maria. I was going to the water well and I walked in on her and Phyllis talking, and they completely froze as soon as I got there. I told them to continue, but the whole thing was, like, super improvised. I think either Phyllis is flipping her vote or Maria’s flipping hers. Either way, you’re getting four, and you need to vote Maria to save yourself.

Celia: Are you <expletive> kidding me? It’s not enough for you to just be a total dick about not voting with us; you’re that mad we betrayed you that you’re trying to break us up? Wow.

Jacob: (caught off guard) What? I’m trying to save you! I’d never tell you this unless it was true. I can’t believe you’d think I played like that. I’m your friend and I’m trying to look out for you.

Celia: If we’re such good friends, why aren’t you voting with me? Jacob: Uh, because you lied to me, girl. I’m not getting revenge, I’m not like that. Even though you went against me, I still want you to stay, which is why I’m trying to warn you about this!

Celia: Maria’s trying to flip Phyllis over to our side, dumbass. Ugh. You don’t know Maria at all, do you? She’s one of my closest friends. She would never betray me.

Jacob: I’m telling you, Celia, Maria knows she’s getting the four votes. Oswald won’t play his idol on her, so she knows she’s going home if this doesn’t go through. Why wouldn’t she try and get the votes flipped on to you?

Celia: Are you serious? Maria wouldn’t do that to me. Can you stop? God. You’re not flipping, you’re mad, I get it, but slandering Maria? That’s low. I thought you were better than that.

Jacob: (annoyed sigh) Fine. You’re not listening to me and now you’re just being hurtful. Don’t say I didn’t warn you, though.

(As Jacob walks away, the camera focuses on Celia, who rolls her eyes.)

I seriously cannot believe the bull<expletive> Jacob just tried to pull on me. You know, fair enough that he’s not flipping and he’s mad, but how dare he try to split us up by spreading <expletive> about my best friend? He thinks he knows Maria? Maria and I have been close since the initial tribes and I know her a Hell of a lot better than he does. That just pissed me off. There’s no way Maria’s flipping on me, no way. She’d never do that to me and I'm shocked Jacob even had the nerve to suggest it!

Celia Mosteller

(The camera then transitions to Celia as she walks up angrily to Oswald.)

Oswald: Oh dear, what happened?

Celia: (furious) You know what Jacob just said to me? That he thinks Maria’s talking to Phyllis about flipping against me!

Oswald: Oh wow…

Celia: I know, right? It’s such bull<expletive>. Maria would never do that to me. We agreed on final three and she’s flipping Phyllis to our side. Jacob’s just mad and trying to get revenge by splitting us up.

Oswald: Jacob doesn’t seem like the guy to do that sort of thing.

Celia: I didn’t think so either. It’s ridiculous the pettiness he’s stooping to.

Oswald: Don’t you think you should consider he’s telling you the truth?

Celia: (rolls eyes) <expletive>! Not you too. Maria wouldn't. We’re so close.

Oswald: Everything is riding on Phyllis flipping. If she doesn’t, then Maria’s only option is you. She won’t just take defeat lying down.

Celia: You seriously think she’d vote for me? Ugh, no, she’d never betray me like that… would she? Do you think we should switch our votes to Maria?

Oswald: I’ll do whatever you want to do. Do you really believe Maria flipped Phyllis, or do you think Phyllis is going to stay and Maria’s flipped her vote?

(The camera fades away as Celia starts to answer. The camera focuses on Oswald as his confessional is heard over the top.)

Celia came to me in a huge huff because Jacob told her that Maria and Phyllis were talking about flipping the vote on her. Celia’s convinced that he’s doing it to sabotage her because Maria would never do it, but she’s looking with rose-coloured glasses, I think. If Maria can’t flip Phyllis, then her only option is to go against Celia, or get someone in the split to flip their vote. I’m just worried that, by being in denial, Celia’s going to get herself voted out. I think I made her at least think about it. I want to go to the final three and I’m sincerely hoping that Maria’s still sticking with us, but I gave word to Celia that I’d protect her and that’s my priority.

Oswald Carter

(The day fades into late afternoon and the castaways begin to pack for Tribal. The camera focuses in on the Somers Trio as they pack. Phyllis joins them.)

Oswald: Are you on our side?

(Phyllis nods. They finish packing their bags and Maria and Oswald go off to get their torches. Maria turns to Phyllis.)

Maria: What have you decided?

(The camera fades away as Phyllis begins to talk. Her confessional is heard over the top.)

Tonight I’ve got a huge decision to make. I’ve been saying all along that I want to work with Maria, so naturally, the best option for me would be to flip my vote to Celia so she gets the four instead, but I got a lot of heat for flipping last round and if I did it again, I might be in serious trouble. I don’t want Maria to go though. I think we have huge potential as a power duo. Another option is I join her and the Trio in voting out Will, who is a huge threat to my game personally as he’s already put me in danger by leaking that I flipped and he could easily play on people to take me out. Will is a huge strategic threat and there could be huge benefit in voting for him. The downside is, again, I get in trouble for flipping, but I’d probably be safer that way since there’d still be the Somers Trio to worry about and Maria would likely break away from them for her own safety. Then again, I could lose a lot of trust with the people left, which might be even worse. The final option is that I stick my vote with Maria, she gets four and then flips her vote from Will to Celia so Celia gets four as well. That’s the safest for me as it keeps me in everyone’s good graces, but it’s the most dangerous for Maria and might not be the best if I want to work with her. I do think there’s a strong chance I could save her on the re-vote but I know there’s at least one or two who are adamant she goes, so I could end up sending her home by being too scared of what other people think. When it boils down to it, I’m doing what’s best for my game and that’s the bottom line.

Phyllis Carmichael

The sun sets as the Vireo Tribe make their way to Tribal Council.

Tribal Council[]

(The Vireo Tribe walk into Tribal Council and sit down.)

Jeff: We'll now bring in the members of our Jury: Isla, and Constance, voted out at the last Tribal Council.

(Isla and Constance walk in and sit down.)

Jeff: Okay, let's get things started. Will, last Tribal Council once again saw a lot of shocks. How has the result of that vote affected the dynamics?

Will: Honestly, it hasn't affected much. People came back pissed off and some alliances may have been fractured, but I think people are intelligent enough to realise that they need to put things aside and work on something mutually beneficial for all of us.

Jeff: Luca, what might Will be talking about?

Luca: He's talking about voting out one of the Somers Trio because they're physical threats and keep sliding by. It's no secret that everyone views them that way. What's even scarier is we know Oswald has an idol.

Jeff: Celia, how do you feel when someone says that?

Celia: They keep saying it, but why just vote us off as the easy votes? When things get down to it, if we all just go, nobody is going to have numbers to do anything and they'll just be sitting ducks.

Jeff: Misty, how do you respond to that?

Misty: Jeff, they've been saying that for the last two Tribals and they're all still here. It's something they'll keep using and soon their three votes will end up on top. They keep saying "use us for a vote, just one more" and soon they'll end up in a position where they can take power and go to the end.

Celia: We're saying it because it's true. Do you want a Gombey Final Four?

Jeff: Jacob, Celia brings up the idea of a Gombey Final Four. Is that something that's in the back of your minds?

Jacob: Obviously we're all aware there's four Gombeys left and they seem like they're together, but if we keep using Somers to take out a Gombey, then those three are gonna end up in the power position, like Misty says. Who said we can't just get rid of one Somers and then go from there? They seem to be stuck on the fact we need all three of them to make the move, which actually isn't true.

Jeff: Maria, none of these guys seem to be shifting from their views. This is your first Tribal without immunity. If a Somers is going to go, are you worried it'll be you?

Maria: I know for a fact I'm getting votes tonight. People are threatened by me physically because I've always performed so well in challenges. I got one bad one and here I am. I had no choice but to keep winning because I knew I'd go without immunity any time I didn't have it, so tonight I wouldn't be shocked at all if I left. I'm going to do everything I can to stay here.

Jeff: Adrian, you already know where one idol is. Has there been any thought given as to where other idols might be?

Adrian: Jeffrey, Hidden Immunity Idols are an unpredictable variable in this game. You will never be sure which individual possesses one, how many are currently active, or if an individual was eliminated whilst holding one. There may be a Hidden Immunity Idol in this camp, it may be undiscovered, it may be inside someone's personal belongings. The Somers individuals could be theoretically in possession of two of them.

Jeff: Veronica, if Somers are in possession of two idols, they could keep their whole group safe and the seven of you are at the mercy of whoever they decide to pick. Do you think people will hold firm or will the paranoia lead to people trying to work with Somers?

Veronica: Who knows? We come in with a plan every single Tribal but then people break from it. Anyone who does is a hypocrite, though, because I specifically got told not to do anything stupid because it would ruin everyone's game.

Jeff: Oswald, with every answer, things look less and less promising for you. How glad are you to have immunity tonight?

Oswald: I'm definitely glad to have immunity, but I wanna say something to these guys: you may be set on getting us out tonight, but you know we have one idol. Are you willing to risk us having two?

Jeff: Phyllis, those are some strong words from Oswald. This vote seems straightforward, but as we know, anything can happen in this game. Do you think people will be shocked?

Phyllis: I'd be more shocked if we weren't shocked. (laughs) I think there's definitely going to be someone surprised tonight.

Veronica: (whispers to Luca) I bet she's flipping again.

Luca: (whispers back) Don't worry about it.

Jeff: Okay, it is time to vote. You cannot vote for Oswald. Everybody else is fair game. Jacob, you're up.

(As Jacob gets up, he touches Celia's shoulders.)

Jacob: (whispering) She's voting for you.

(As 'Jacob walks off, Celia stays silent. Jacob's vote is revealed to the public.)

I hope you go home tonight. I've done everything I can.

–Jacob, voting for Maria

(Oswald, Misty and Adrian all go up to vote. Their votes aren't shown. Next is Celia, followed by Will. Will's vote is shown to the public.)

If people don't stick to this plan, I will break something... or someone.

–Will, voting for Celia

(Veronica goes up to vote. Her vote is not shown. She is followed by Luca,  then Maria. Last is Phyllis, who takes a deep breath before she begins to write and the camera fades away. She is then shown returning to her seat.)

Jeff: I'll go tally the votes.

(Jeff leaves and returns a short time later with the urn.)

Jeff: If anybody has a Hidden Immunity Idol, and you want to play it, now would be the time to do so.

(Everyone looks at the Somers Trio. The camera focuses on Oswald, then Maria, as the music grows intense....

...but none stand. Maria takes a deep sigh.)

Jeff: Okay, once the votes are read, the decision. is final. The person voted out will be asked to leave the Tribal Council area immediately. I'll read the votes.

First vote... MARIA. (1-0)

(Maria nods.)

CELIA. (1-1)

MARIA. (2-1)

CELIA. Two votes Maria, two votes Celia. (2-2)

(Celia rolls her eyes.)

WILL. (2-2-1)

(Will does not show any reaction to this.)

MARIA. Three votes Maria. (3-2-1)

(Maria does not look surprised.)

CELIA. (3-3-1)

WILL. Three votes Maria, three votes Celia, two votes Will. (3-3-2)

CELIA. Four votes Celia, three votes Maria, two votes Will, one vote left. (4-3-2)

Celia: What the <expletive>!?

(Oswald looks over at Maria and sighs. Celia glares at Jacob, who just shrugs, and then at Maria. The camera focuses on Phyllis, who remains expressionless as Jeff pulls out the last vote.)

MARIA. We have a tie. (4-4-2)

Celia: (furious) <expletive> you, Maria! How could you lie to me like that?!

Maria: I had to do it, Celia.

Celia: This is such bull<expletive>! I got told that you were doing this, and you know what I said? "Not Maria, she'd never betray me!" and look what the <expletive> happened! I feel like such a <expletive> idiot for ever trusting you!

Maria: Do you think I wanted to write your name down? It got to the point of being me or you. I had to save myself over anyone else. I'm sorry.

Celia: Save yourself- please! You just delayed getting voted out! You were going anyway and now they're going to take you out on the revote. (turns to the group) I hope you guys aren't seriously considering keeping her. I'm the least threatening of the three! I don't have any idols, I haven't won immunity, and Maria's won two immunities already. If she's backstabbing her alliance this easily, how long before she backstabs the rest of you?

Maria: If you guys keep Celia, you're just adding another enemy. If Oswald wins immunity again, he'll give his idol to Celia and one of you will be the next to go. If you really want to break up the Somers Trio, Celia's the one who's loyal to Oswald to a T. You'll also succeed in keeping a target in the game instead of yourselves, because I'll just keep being targeted until I go, and you'll be able to slide through. When you look at the bigger picture, it's best to take out Celia.

Celia: I can't believe you're just throwing me under the bus like this. Does our friendship mean nothing to you? That conversation we had on the reward literally yesterday was just bull<expletive>?

Maria: Of course our friendship means something to me! We're playing a game, though, Celia and it came down to either me or you.

Celia: So you've just priced our friendship at a million dollars. Wow.

Maria: No, that's not what I'm doing at all!

Phyllis then leans over and whispers something to Misty, who frowns and leans in closer, where Phyllis repeats herself. After a pause, Misty turns behind to Adrian and whispers. Adrian is shown slowly nodding., Will, having noticed these whispers, stands up and leans over to them.

Will: (whispering) What are you talking about?

Misty turns to Phyllis, who gets out of her seat to walk over to Adrian and Will. This alerts Luca, Veronica and Jacob, who start leaning forward in their seats curiously.

Will: You seven, come over here.

The seven retreat away from earshot of the Somers Trio. Celia turns to them furiously.

Celia: If you've got something to say, say it out loud for all of us to hear!

(The camera focuses on the seven as they begin talking.)

Luca: Isn't the plan Maria? I thought we wanted her out.

At the mention of her name, Maria perks up, but the castaways continue talking in hushed voices.

Phyllis: (whispering) I think we need to reconsider. Celia won't work with us- she'll stick with Oswald.

Veronica: You're kidding me, right?

Will: What if she just wins every immunity?

Adrian: There is valid argument for eliminating both women. Maria has demonstrated less loyalty to the Somers strategic partnership, but Celia is the least threatening.

Phyllis: Wouldn't it be best to keep the more threatening person who'll work with us?

Will: Maybe, but I don't know if I should be the idiot who hands Maria a million dollars.

Veronica: She will literally win every single immunity!

Misty: We need to decide on what we want to do.

(The two of them continue talking as the camera pans over to Maria, Celia and Oswald, who are just staring ahead. After a moment, the seven begin returning to their seats, with the exception of Jacob, who walk over to Oswald and whispers in his ear. Oswald nods. As Jacob makes his way back to his seat, he is stopped by Celia, who grabs him on the arm.)

Celia: Am I going?

(Jacob looks back at the seven, then leans forward and whispers in Celia's air. Celia's reaction is not shown, and Jacob makes his way back to his seat.)

Jeff: Wow, this is the definition of a Live Tribal. Maria, Celia, do you have one last thing to say to these guys?

Maria: Think about the long term, not the short term. There's idols in play, and Celia's just going to stick with Oswald above all else, whereas I'm constantly going to be a target and I'll work with whoever, so you'll be able to keep the targets off your backs.

Celia: I've got no power, I'm the only one who hasn't won immunity out of the whole Somers group and I'm a gullible idiot with no allies who wears her heart on her sleeve and can't keep her emotions in check. How am I any threat to you?

Jeff: Have you eight made your decision?

(Everyone nods.)

Jeff: Then let's vote again. Oswald, if you'll take the urn.

(Oswald takes the urn back. He is shown writing MARIA on the parchment. One by one, the rest of the castaways go up to vote. Will, the last to vote, stops at the booth before he begins to write. He then returns to his seat.)

Jeff: I'll go get the votes.

(Jeff leaves and returns a short time later with the urn.)

Jeff: I'll read the votes.

First vote... MARIA. (1-0)

MARIA. (2-0)

MARIA. That's three votes Maria. (3-0)

(Maria sighs.)

CELIA. Three votes Maria, one vote Celia. (3-1)

(Celia rolls her eyes.)

CELIA. (3-2)

CELIA. We're tied: three votes Maria, three votes Celia. (3-3)

(Celia just shakes her head. Maria starts to relax a little, but is still tense. She looks at Phyllis.)

CELIA. Four votes Celia, three votes Maria, one vote left. (4-3)

Celia: (starts grabbing her stuff) Well congratulations, you <expletive> won.

Ninth person voted out and the third member of the Jury.... CELIA. That's five, that's enough, you need to bring me your torch.

Celia: (huffs) <expletive> this.

(Maria gives a huge sigh of relief as Celia gives Oswald a hug.)

Celia: Kick their asses.

(Maria looks at Phyllis and mouths a "thank you". Phyllis looks at the group and smiles. Celia goes to Jacob and gives him a huge hug.)

Celia: I can't <expletive> believe I thought you were lying.

Jacob: It's okay, girl, I tried.

(Furiously, Celia grabs her torch and starts making her way over to Jeff. She turns to the group.)

Celia: You guys made the most stupid mistake.

(Celia places her torch in front of Jeff.)

Jeff: Celia, the tribe has spoken.

(Jeff snuffs Celia's torch.)

Jeff: Time for you to go.

(Without another word, Celia departs the Tribal Council area.)

Jeff: Well, it was yet another explosive Tribal with high tensions, betrayals and another shift in dynamics. We'll see how this impacts the rest of the game. Grab your torches, head back to camp. Goodnight.

Voting Confessionals- Original Vote[]

I better be doing the right thing. I trust Maria won't betray me, so hopefully there's four votes coming your way.

–Celia, voting for Will

Celia, this really, truly breaks my heart, but I feel this is the only chance I've got of staying in the game. Phyllis is worried about the repercussions of flipping again, so I have to be the fourth vote for you. I'm sorry, but I'm trying to win, too.

–Maria, voting for Celia

I'm keeping with what I'm supposed to do because I genuinely think you and I can work together to flip the re-vote. I know this could backfire spectacularly, but I can't afford to incur even more wrath by flipping again.

–Phyllis, voting for Oswald

Voting Confessionals- Revote[]

Well, we decided on voting you out because I feel you'll just stick to Oswald and make our problem even worse. Maria's flipped on you guys and she's more open to working with us, so she's the smartest choice to keep. I'm pretty sure it's a matter of time before the target falls on me, so having Maria in front of me is better for my game.

–Misty, voting for Celia

I made a promise to Celia on Day Two of this game that I would never write her name down. I'm keeping that promise.

–Oswald, voting for Maria

This is the best move for my game. You'll never work with me, so keeping you is worthless. Maria may be a bigger threat, but at least I can use her to get some of these people out, and maybe with her around there won't be such a <expletive> huge target on my back.

–Will, voting for Maria

I tried everything I could to warn Celia and I'm not gonna backtrack on that by writing her name down. Sorry.

–Jacob, voting for Maria

This is a vote against Phyllis because I'm sick of that stupid bitch. I can't believe she flipped last round and she's just getting what she wants here.

–Veronica, voting for Maria

Phyllis was adamant about wanting you out, which I'm not sure is the smartest move, but I need to keep my Gombey Four happy. I'm sorry.

–Luca, voting for Celia

Final Words[]

Well that's what I get for trying to have friends, isn't it? I was so blinded by my friendship with Maria that I couldn't see what was obvious. I can't believe Jacob was trying to help me and I just threw it back in his face. I'm an idiot. I'm such an idiot. I should have voted for Maria. I <expletive> hate this so much. Everyone left in the game, except for Oswald, Jacob and whoever else voted for Maria, are <expletive> stupid. What threat was I to them? I had no idol, I haven't won a challenge, I'm loyal, and they voted me out over the one who'd backstab anyone to get ahead and has won two necklaces already. I'm so angry at myself. I can't believe I let this happen.

Next Time on Survivor...[]

After losing his closest ally, Oswald doubts his position in the game...

"Celia got voted out, Maria turned on us... I somehow managed to lose both my allies in the one night. No one's shown any interest in working with me, so I'm not sure where I stand. This game is an almighty son of a bitch!"- Oswald Carter

Phyllis tries to ease the growing tension between her and Veronica...

"I know you and I have had our differences, but I'd really like to sit down and talk them out, if you'd let me." - Phyllis Carmichael

Adrian faces a setback in his battle to overcome his fear of homosexuality...

"I am crestfallen. I believed myself to be progressing, however, I have apparently regressed. I am doubtful if I will ever conquer my demons." - Adrian Redford

...and Maria and Phyllis look to make another move...

"We have one chance to get rid of the most dangerous person in the game. If we don't do this tonight, we might as well hand over the million dollars." - Maria Ortiz

Author's Notes[]

  • Once again, thank you to the amazing AJ for the incredible Ponderosa mangas!
  • The episode title was said by Maria Ortiz as she debated turning on the Somers Trio to save herself.
  • Jacob had the most confessionals this episode, with 6.
    • Misty, Oswald and Will all had the least, with 3.
    • Thus far, every single contestant eliminated post-merge has received five confessionals in their boot episode.
  • This marks the first time in the season that Luca Enmore has voted someone out of the game. He currently holds the record for the longest time spent in the game without voting someone out, his streak ending at 23 days, as he voted someone out on his 24th day of playing.
    • Jacob has currently been in the game for 21 days without voting someone out, last successfully eliminating someone on Day 3. Should he vote incorrectly next episode, he will hold the record.
  • This is the second time in Tangle's fanon series that a tie has occurred between two people when three people received votes. The first occurred in I Must Be Wearing My Bitch Clothes
