This is the season finale of Survivor: La Mosquitia.
Previously on Survivor...
Thirty-six days ago, sixteen new castaways were stranded in the La Mosquitia region of eastern Honduras. At first it seemed the Segovia tribe was establishing themselves as a powerhouse tribe winning five of the first six challenges. After losing four straight, Warunta's remaining members formed a new alliance and bond. Their bond and a tribal swap proved to be a turnaround. Warunta never lost another tribal challenge, destroying the previously dominate Segovia tribe. At the merge, the Swap Six easily picked off the remaining four Segovia members making it seven consecutive Segovia eliminations. With only their members left, Olive and Piper set up a plan. Olive would act as an ally to Parker and Esther. Piper feigned allegiance to them as well but as a drone. Michelle joined their plan later. Ivan was eliminated. It paved the way for Piper, Olive and Michelle to make the final three. The only thing standing in their way was a dominate Esther who was on a monster winning streak of immunity challenges. So in the end, they took out Esther's strongest ally Parker in a blindside. The final four are the strategist Piper, the traitor Olive, the dark horse Michelle, and the powerhouse Esther.
Who will make it to the end and take the title of Sole Survivor?
Immunity Challenge: Balancing Point
With one hand castaways will balance a sword on a shield. With their other hand, they will stack unevenly sided coins on the handle of the sword. As the stack of coins gets higher, it will get more difficult to balance. When the stack becomes too high, the coins may fall and they will then be out of the challenge. The last person standing wins immunity.
Immunity Challenge: A Leg Up
Survivors must balance a ceramic vase on the end of a balance beam with one leg. When they can no longer take the pain or they lose their balance, their vase will drop and smash, eliminating them. The last person left wins final immunity.
Upon returning to camp, Esther asked, "Olive, what in the hell was that!?"
Olive defended herself, "I had to do something. You and Parker were never going to break up. We had to break the unbreakable. I want a shot to win. I don't have one with you and Parker."
"Why didn't you tell me?" asked Esther.
"Because you would have recruited on of these two get me out," Olive shot back.
"I don't want to talk anymore to you. I do have a question. Whose plan was this to break us up?" asked Piper.
"It was mine," Piper said, "You and Parker were too close. I want a shot at the end. Michelle wants a shot at the end. Olive wants a shot at the end. With you and Parker together, none of us three were going to get there. We had to strike while we could. We weren't going to tell you because you command too much power. We had to destroy part of your foundation to make it," Piper coolly explained.
"I get that. I do. From you and Michelle. You two were in the minority. You needed to fight to survive. Olive, you weren't. I place what happened solely on you," Esther said as she went in the shelter.
"What a bitch," Olive said.
Piper grabbed Olive's shoulder, "Don't. She's hurt and in shock of what happened. Tomorrow she'll be calmer. Right now she's on her emotions. You would be too if someone you trusted just stabbed you in the back."
"I guess," Olive said.
|“||I have to keep this sudden conflict between Olive and Esther at bay. I need to be the rock in the storm that I know is brewing. At this rate, Olive is pissing everyone off who is going on the jury. I want Olive next to me at the end.||”|
"Come on in, guys!" Jeff called out. The four of them arrived in the next arena. Jeff said, "The final four. Are you ready for today's immunity challenge? First thing's first. Esther, I'll take it back again. Immunity back up for grabs. For today's challenge, with one hand you will balance a sword on a shield. With your other hand, you will stack unevenly sided coins on the handle of your sword. As the stack of coins gets higher, it will get more difficult to balance. When your stack becomes too high, the coins will have a higher chance of falling. Once that happens, you are out of this challenge. The last person standing wins immunity. We'll draw for spots and get ready."
The four got their spots. Jeff gave the signal and the challenge was on. The four stacked on coins. Fifteen minutes passed. The stacks were at about an inch and a half tall. Jeff told them to put on another coin. Olive misplaced her coin causing the top few to fall.
"With that, Olive is out of the challenge," Jeff said.
The stacks of the other three continued to get higher. At three inches, Piper's stack fell over, sending her out of the challenge. Esther and Michelle were still in it. Their stack kept getting higher and higher.
"This had been the story all season in the merge. Esther is in the final two castaways competing for immunity. Each time except for the first time, Esther has won. Can she pull off a sixth straight immunity challenge?" asked Jeff.
Michelle knew the odds. Even though she was stress city last night, she was calm and collected. Esther was in the zone. Her mind was focused on nothing but winning. Jeff told them to place another coin on the stack. Esther's coin fell out of her hand, smacked her stack and knocked it over. For the first time in six immunity challenges, Esther lost.
"Michelle wins immunity!" Jeff announced. Michelle looked shocked. She let go of her sword and jumped in joy. Piper, Esther and Olive returned to their tribe's mat. Michelle was next to Jeff. Jeff said, "For the first time in fifteen days, Esther is not the winner of an immunity challenge. Instead it is Michelle. Michelle, you are safe. Esther, Piper and Olive, one of you is going home. I'll see you tonight."
|“||Oh thank goodness. Esther didn't win. Now we can finally take out the biggest threat in this game. Without her, us three have a shot at winning the final immunity challenge.||”|
|“||You know what sucks? I'm going home. You know what's worse? I have two immunity idols that I can't play. They had to be played by Day 36. Today is Day 37. The time I need to use one of my idols is the time I can't. I mean come on. This is no fun.||”|
Returning to camp, nothing was said strategy wise. Esther kept trying to talk to people, but the three other had none of it. They all stayed in the shelter. It was obvious that Esther was on her way out tonight.
Day 37 Tribal Council
The final four walked in to tribal council. Jeff brought in the jury. The tribal interview was short. Piper, Michelle, and Olive were tight and going to be the final three. Esther was the odd woman out.
|“||Your days of dominance have come and gone.||”|
|“||You shouldn't have been such a threat as you were. I really do like you.||”|
|“||Go join your boyfriend on the jury.||”|
|“||I hope the day comes where you get what is coming to you.||”|
Jeff left and returned with the urn. He said, "The person with the highest number of votes will be asked to leave the tribal council area immediately. I'll read the votes."
First vote: Esther.
Second vote: Esther.
The thirteenth person voted off Survivor: La Mosquitia and the sixth member of our jury: Esther. Esther, that's three and it's enough. Please bring me your torch."
Esther took her torch up to Jeff, "Esther, the tribe has spoken."
Esther left tribal council. Jeff turned to the remaining three, "By this vote, you have eliminated you greatest challenge threat. How this will help you is yet to be determined. Go ahead and head out."
|Tribal Council 13:|
Esther (3 votes)
Michelle, Olive, Piper
Olive (1 vote)
|“||I'm still upset that Olive blatantly lied to me and stabbed me in the back. She made me look like an a bitch to the jury. My vote goes for either Michelle or Piper.||”|
Still in the Running
"Well here we are," Piper said.
"The final three," Olive acknowledged.
"Tomorrow night it'll be the final two," Piper replied.
"At least tomorrow we all have a fair shot at winning the final immunity challenge with Esther gone," Michelle joined in.
"I'll see you ladies in the morning," Olive said as she laid down in the shelter.
|“||Tomorrow is the day. Tomorrow is the final immunity challenge. Since there are three of us left, the winner of the immunity challenge decides who joins her in the final tribal council. I would love to have that kind of say. I'm going to put everything I have into this challenge.||”|
A Leg Up
The final three walked into the final immunity challenge. Jeff said, "Are you ready to get to your final immunity challenge? First thing's first. Michelle, I'll take it back...Immunity is back up for grabs. The winner of this challenge will not only be safe from the vote but will guarantee their spot in the final tribal council. Enough of that. For today's challenge, you must balance a ceramic vase on the end of a balance beam with one leg. When you can no longer take the pain or you lose your balance, your vase will drop and smash. Once your vase is out so are you. The last person left wins final immunity. We'll draw for spots and get started."
After a few minutes, the three were set up. Jeff said, "For immunity and a position in the final tribal council, this challenge is on right now."
Piper, Michelle and Olive started the challenge. All three of them were steady. Ten minutes passed before anyone had to adjust. Michelle slowly slid her foot that wasn't on the beam backwards a little. Luckily nothing happened. The challenged continued on. Twenty minutes passed. The challenge had been on for half an hour. Piper looked at the other two. A thought flashed through her mind. She knew that she was going to the end no matter what. Michelle and Olive were going to take her to the end no matter what. Michelle subconsciously is against Olive. Olive made the promise to take Piper. So Piper would work on that if Olive won. Because of that, Piper jerked her leg. The vase fell, shattering against the rocks.
"Piper is now out of this challenge. That leaves Michelle to fight it out against Olive," Jeff commentated.
Piper took a seat on the out bench to watch the other two fight it out. At about an hour, Michelle started to waiver. Her leg started to spasm a little in her leg. Olive glance over to see Michelle wince as her leg started to fail her. Olive smiled slightly as she could feel herself winning the final immunity. Michelle regained her composure for the moment. It only lasted for a few minutes as Michelle's leg started to act up again. Piper leaned forward as she watched Michelle slowly fall apart. Olive was strong. She hadn't moved since the start. Olive looked over at Michelle again. Michelle was shaking, her beam bouncing the vase. Finally, it happened. Michelle's vase fell and shattered.
"Olive wins final immunity!" Jeff announced. Olive let her vase shatter as she raised her hands in celebration. Michelle walked over next Piper. Olive walked over to Jeff. He put the necklace around Olive, "Olive is safe tonight and guarantees herself a spot in the final tribal council where one of you will join her in the fight to win the title of Sole Survivor. I'll see you tonight where we will find out who will go on to tomorrow night."
|“||I finally won an immunity challenge. It just happened to be the final one. That's the way to do it, but it does put a responsibility on me. I need to decide who joins me in the end. I promised Piper I would take her to the end. I just have to weigh my options on who would be the best chance of beating.||”|
Piper, Michelle, and Olive walked back into camp. Michelle said, "Congratulations on making to the final tribal council."
"Thank you," Olive said.
"Do you know who you are taking to the end with you?" asked Michelle.
"Not yet, I have to weigh all the options," Olive told her.
Michelle nodded. She walked down to the riverbank. Piper approached Olive. She told her, "You know that I am your best shot to win this."
"You are?" asked Olive.
"Think about it. You broke your promises to Esther and Parker. Even though it wasn't real, it was to them. They are still angry with you. You pissed off Astrid. She has pull with Lester and even Xavier still. If you get rid of me, you will have broken another promise. If you go against the jury breaking every promise along the way, what are the odds of you winning the game in the end? I'd say slim to none. If you take me and vote off Michelle, you will have kept a promise. That means you can have an example of when you kept your loyalty. Your loyalty is going to be the biggest source of questions for you, Olive. It is because of what you did to Parker and Esther. The jury is going to want answers. How would they feel if you were disloyal to everyone?"
Olive answered, "They would steamroll me."
"Exactly. So what is you only option then?" asked Piper.
"It's to take you with me and not Michelle," Olive answered.
"Exactly," Piper replied.
|“||I explained to Olive why it would benefit her to take me instead of Michelle with her. Olive is a smart woman. She'll make the right decision and the right decision is to take me.||”|
|“||Piper explained to me why it is a better option for me to take her with me to the final tribal council. She made a very strong argument. It doesn't look too good for Michelle. I still can choose to take her, but it wouldn't be a good thing.||”|
Day 38 Tribal Council
Olive, Piper, and Michelle sat down at tribal council. Jeff brought in the jury and gave the final interview before sending Olive off to deliver the final vote.
|“||There is only one choice that I can make. This is it.||”|
Jeff set the urn down and said, "Once the vote is read, the person will be asked to leave the tribal council area immediately. I'll read the vote."
Piper looked at Olive. Olive stared straight ahead at the urn. Michelle was nervous just like the last time she was in trouble.
Jeff said, "The fourteenth person voted out of Survivor: La Mosquitia and the final member of our jury: Michelle. Please bring me your torch."
Michelle grabbed her torched and placed it in front of Jeff. Jeff snuffed her torch, "Michelle, the has spoken."
Michelle left tribal council and Jeff turned to the final two, "Congratulations on making it to the final two. Tomorrow night the power switches from you to the jury where they will decide which one of you will be the next Sole Survivor. Go on and head out. I'll see you guys again tomorrow night."
|Tribal Council 14:|
Michelle (1 vote)
|“||There are two sides to my elimination. The good thing is that I made it to 38 days. I never thought that I could make it that far in this game. I've passed my own expectations of myself. The bad thing is I made it to 38 days. I was one day away from being in the final tribal. But, third place isn't a bad finish. I just wished it would have been first.||”|
Still in the Running
Piper and Olive woke up on Day 39. It took a several minutes to fully sink in that they made it to the end of the game.
|“||Here I am on Day 39 waking up to a rather beautiful day in the rainforest. Today is just going to involve me eating the Day 39 feast and resting until we have to go to tribal tonight. I'm not going to do much else other than that.||”|
Olive saw the food that was left for them before they woke up. Olive called out, "Piper!"
Piper came out of shelter to see the food that Olive was already getting in to. She said, "Actual food."
"Yes it is," Olive replied.
|“||Tonight is the night. It's my time to take the victory. I helped ensure that the several members of the jury would be angry with Olive about their elimination. I hope that it is enough to sway their votes to me. I know that I have at least two. Parker and Esther are still freshly angry at Olive so I'll count those two. Astrid is most definitely not a fan of Olive so that gives me three. I need one more to win this. It would appear that I have it easier than Olive does, but that doesn't mean anything until the votes are read. I could still end up losing this game and as of right now it is my game to lose.||”|
The day passed on. Olive and Piper packed their items, destroyed the shelter and left for their final tribal council.
Final Tribal Council
Piper and Olive walked into tribal council. Jeff welcomed them and said, "We'll now bring in the members of the jury: Xavier, Astrid, Lester, Ivan, Parker, Esther, and Michelle, voted out at last night's tribal council."
The jury sat down in their section. Jeff continued, "First of all, congratulations on making it to the end. Tonight the power shifts from you to the jury. Tonight they will question you and then decide who will become the Sole Survivor. Before they do ask you questions, you will have a chance to address them. How about we go ahead and start this. Olive, you're up first."
Olive turned to the jury. She told them, "I know that I have made several huge mistakes in this game, but I have contributed to game in a large way as well. I founded the Swap Six, the alliance that took control of this game. I played key roles in who was eliminated and who was to stay. I also kept some of my promises I made in this game. Piper and I made an agreement to reach the end together. Now here we are sitting before you awaiting your questions. That's it. Piper, your turn."
Piper addressed the jury, "I too have played a major role in the game as did Olive. I was there when the Swap Six as Olive calls it was formed. I have never lied to anyone in this game in a major way. Sure I might have said a white lie here or there, but who hasn't in this game. Everyone has. So I was the rock in the storm that was always sturdy. I never wavered. I was always the same Day 1 to now, Day 39. That's all I have for you seven."
"Very well," Jeff said. He turned to the jury, "Now it's up to you seven. Olive and Piper have given you their statements. When I call you up, you can address Olive, Piper or both of them. Astrid, start us off."
Astrid walked up in front of Olive and Piper. She didn't look at Piper. She told Olive, "I have a question for you, Olive. Why are you such a bitch to the people who are going to be voted off?"
"I was never a bitch to you or anyone Astrid," Olive said.
"Oh really? When this said incident occurred there was someone else there. That was Piper," Astrid said. Astrid looked at Piper, "So Piper how was Olive when we had our conversation that I am talking about?"
"Yes, I was there," Piper said.
"Could you please tell Olive how she sounded," Astrid told her.
Piper looked over at Olive, "You were kind of bitchy. I told you shouldn't be like that for this very reason."
"You should have listened to Piper. This is what could happen. I don't know how you treated the others on the jury when they were being shoved out the door. I'm no longer angry at the incident, but on my exit confessional I said that you would not get my jury vote. It wasn't in those exact words, but it had the same meaning. I don't want to go back on my word so my vote is not going to be for you Olive," Astrid said.
Astrid went back to the jury section.
Parker stood in front of Olive and Piper. Parker said, "Unlike Astrid, Olive you were never a bitch to me. So I'm not jaded in that sense. What I'm upset about is that Olive, you lied to Esther and myself. You could have just told us that you were with Piper and Michelle. You had the majority. You didn't have to lie to us. So my question is, why lie to us about being with us?"
Olive said, "It was part of the plan that was put into motion to break up the Swap Six alliance when we were the only people left in the game. I just followed the plan."
"I was not aware that there was a plan in place to dismantle our alliance," Parker said.
"You weren't part of that plan," Olive replied, "You were the victim of that plan."
"Obviously," Parker said, "To be completely honest with you, I don't have anything else to say. I'll just see how the other questions go. However, I do congratulate the both of you on getting this far."
Parker slightly bowed and left to go back to his seat.
Xavier took his turn. He said, "This is an open question. Either one of you can answer. When I turned against my alliance, I thought I was promised at least seventh place. Turns out I end up in ninth place. It seems that you all betrayed me. Why did you betray me?"
Olive didn't say a word. Piper spoke, "It was because that your betrayal of you alliance caused chaos at camp. It could have bled over to our alliance. We decided to take a preemptive strike and silence the constant fighting between you and your scorned allies."
"That make sense, but getting rid of Astrid would have solved the problem anyway," Xavier replied.
"I doubt that. Lester was angry with you too. Does it really matter what place you are going to be in? You were going to be on the jury anyway. First jury member or third jury member. What does it matter? You were going to be on the jury anyway," Piper responded.
"I see your point. My betrayal didn't matter in the end," Xavier said.
"Exactly," Piper replied.
"Point taken," Xavier said.
Lester went up and said, "To be honest with you guys, I am not going to vote for the winner because of their gameplay. I didn't really pay attention that much. I was here for my own adventure. Once I got on the jury, my adventure was over. I only showed up to the other tribals because I had to show up. I've got no questions for you two. I'm just going to see how the rest of this tribal goes. Then I'll decide for the winner."
Lester went back to his seat.
Ivan went up to question the finalists. Ivan said, "I have one question. Whose plan to destroy the Swap Six alliance?"
Piper raised her hand, "It was my plan. I put the pieces in place and start the train rolling."
"Olive, is this true?" asked Ivan.
Olive was silent for a moment.
"Olive, was it Piper's plan to destroy the alliance?" asked Ivan.
"Yes, it was Piper's plan," Olive conceded.
"Thanks. That's all I need," Ivan said and went to sit down.
Michelle addressed the final two. She told them, "Congrats Piper and Olive on making the final two. I have no hard feelings toward the both of you. I also have no questions. I do, however, have something to say. One of you was the master and the other was the pawn. The master gets my vote. Again congratulations and we will see who wins in the end."
Michelle left and sat down.
Esther walked up. She smirked, "Oh I've got a question for you, Olive. Have you ever a kept a single word you made in this game or are you just a lying bitch?"
"I told you this would come," Piper said.
"I have kept a promise I made in this game. Piper and I allied with each other to make up the final two," Olive answered.
"Well good for you," Esther said, "At least you can count one on your record. Is it enough to make up for what you did? I don't know. I've got another thing to ask you, Olive. The whole thing about lying to me and Parker. Whose idea was that?"
"It was Piper's idea. What does that matter?" asked Olive.
"Olive, you are an intelligent woman. Why did you fall for something like that?" Esther replied.
"What do you mean?" asked Olive.
"Piper played you. She knew that Astrid didn't like you. Piper told you to lie to Parker and myself to gain our trust. Then she told you to vote of Parker because you wanted to break Parker away from me. She used your desire for that to set up another part of her master plan."
"What are you talking about?" asked Olive.
"Piper knew she had Astrid's vote. You lied to me and Parker. You took a knife and plunged it into our backs. You made us look like an asshole and a bitch to the jury. You pissed us off. You betrayed us. You lost two more jury votes in that single decision you made. Michelle knew what was happening. She knew who was in charge. She may not say it but you are the pawn. Piper is the master. Did Piper persuade you to vote off Michelle when you won immunity?"
"Yes," Olive said as it started to dawn on her what was happening.
"Olive, I'm still pissed at you for what you did, but having a couple of days to think about this, Piper set you up for failure in the end. You played right into her hand, and it cost you the game."
Esther turned to Jeff, "That's it, Jeff."
Jeff replied, "Very well. Esther, since you're up you can start us off."
|“||Olive, I'm pissed, but you are smarter than this.||”|
|“||Esther opened my eyes to who I should vote for.||”|
|“||Thanks Esther for blowing my whole master and pawn thing.||”|
|“||You gained my vote when I found out you were the one who destroyed the Swap Six.||”|
|“||I don't care about the whole Olive thing, but you played the better game.||”|
|“||This is me making good on what I said I would do.||”|
|“||Good game. You played it better than the other woman.||”|
Jeff left and returned with the urn. He said, "Thanks for another great season. I'll see you guys in the States where we will reveal who is the winner of Survivor: La Mosquitia."
Several months later in Los Angeles, Jeff brought the urn out in the studio. He addressed Olive and Piper, "Before I read these votes, you need to remember that you want to see your names now. When you see your name, that is good thing. It means you are getting closer to the win. I'll read the votes.
First vote: Piper.
Second vote: Piper
Third vote: Piper
We have three votes for Piper. No votes for Olive. Four votes are left," Jeff said. Jeff took out the fourth vote. He said, "The winner of Survivor: La Mosquitia: Piper."
Piper stood up and hugged Olive. She turned to go and hug her husband and kids in the audience. The pre-jury members arrived on stage as Jeff said to the audience, "That's it for this season of Survivor. We'll see you again next season and goodnight!"
|Final Tribal Council:|
