Previously on Survivor...
The tribes of Warunta and Segovia entered into the challenge arena believing they would compete in the next reward challenge. However, the tribes were merging. The two tribes merged and returned to camp. Astrid thought that the Warunta tribe was not a united front. She tried to take control over the tribe by telling the Warunta members about her alliance. The next day the tribe went in to compete in the reward challenge. Split into two teams of five, the tribe compete for a day of relaxation. Both teams were neck and neck until Esther's puzzle-solving skills won her team the challenge. That caused her to be in Astrid's crosshairs. In the immunity challenge, it came down to Esther or Piper winning immunity. After nearly five hours, Piper won the first individual immunity challenge. That left Esther without immunity and Astrid thought she had an elimination of Esther in the bag. She was blind to the fact that the Warunta members were together. Only Xavier saw it. He turned his back on his alliance and joined forces with the Swap Six. At tribal council, everyone knew a blindside was coming with several different ideas going on. Dennis was the one who became the victim. Down her closest ally and another by severing himself from her alliance, Astrid's eyes were opened to the fact she was no longer in control of her fate.
Nine are left. Who will be eliminated next?
Reward Challenge: Rock Block
Each tribe member must use metal balls and try to break four tiles. The first tribe member to break all their tiles wins reward.
Reward: An advantage in the next immunity challenge.
Immunity Challenge: Return from the Dead
This challenge is divided up into three rounds. In the first round, the castaways must untie a large knot to release a ring. The first four to release their ring will go to the next round. In the second round, the four remaining will run up some come crates and bounce coconuts off of a net to destroy a target. They first two to burst all three targets move to the final round. The final round consists of hitting three targets in a row either horizontal, vertical, or diagonal out of a 3x3 grid. The first person to knock three our three in a row wins immunity.
Duo Flumina walked back into their camp. Only Astrid and Xavier didn't immediately go into the shelter. Astrid was still stunned from the vote. She said, "I didn't see that coming."
"I did, and I tried to warn you," Xavier replied, "You brought this on yourself."
"What does that supposed to mean?" asked Astrid.
"How could you not see that they were united as one? For goodness's sake, they didn't even question what you were feeding them. That should have been a big red flag, but you just bought it. Tonight you looked like a fool," Xavier told her.
"I mean it's unbelievable. Things just turned upside down for me," Astrid said.
"Not just you. It turned upside down for all of us. We were on top for only a time. The tribe swap screwed us over. It was a major blessing to the others. We are now in survival mode. I've made my move for hopefully getting further in this game," Xavier said.
Astrid shot Xavier a look, "What does that mean?"
"It means that this alliance we have is no longer an alliance. It's a line to the slaughterhouse. I did what I had to do," Xavier admitted.
"You voted against Dennis!?" snapped Astrid.
"I did what I had to do," Xavier shot back, "Besides it's not like I was going to be sitting in the final two with you. At least this way, I can guarantee at least seventh place."
"Then you'll have to win every immunity to end or find a crack in their alliance," Astrid said.
"I know it is a long shot but at least I wasn't sitting idly by and thinking I was in control!"
"I was in control until you turned and told them everything," Astrid started to get angry.
"Good god. For someone so smart, you are so stupid. It didn't matter. In fact, I took the target off of you and placed it on Dennis. You were their target," Xavier got louder.
"Is that supposed to make me feel better?" asked Astrid.
"No, I wanted this to happen to you. I wanted you to see the error of your thinking. This is it. For Lester, you and me, this game is now individual. We are running for our lives. Accept that and your fate will be less of sting," Xavier told her, "I'm going to bed now so we don't wake up the others."
Astrid was so angry, she barely got out, "You son of a bitch."
"Come on in, guys!" Jeff called out. Duo Flumina walked into the challenge arena. Jeff asked, "Are you ready to get to today's reward challenge?...For today's challenge, each one of you must use metal balls and try to break a row of four tiles in rounds. You only throw one ball per round. The first tribe member to break all their tiles wins reward. Want to know what you are playing for?"
"Damn right, I do," Astrid sternly said.
"Today's winner will get something very important for the immunity challenge. It's an advantage in the coming immunity challenge. Any advantage is worth playing. We'll draw for spots and get started."
The tribe members took their spots and Jeff gave the order. The first round went underway. Esther, Astrid, Ivan and Lester all broke one tile. Everyone else didn't. After the second round, Astrid and Ivan pulled away with two tiles broken. Parker, Piper, Michelle and Xavier joined Esther and Lester win one tile broken. The third round passed. Astrid and Ivan increased their lead. Esther, Michelle, Piper, and Xavier broke their second tile. Everyone else stayed the same. The fourth round began. Ivan tossed and missed. With fierce determination, Astrid tossed and broke her final tile.
"Astrid wins reward!" Jeff announced. The tribe retook their place on the mat. Jeff handed Astrid the message with the advantage on it. He told her, "Don't open that until the immunity challenge. As for everyone else, I have nothing for you. I'll see you later."
|“||If I have to fight to survive, I just completed my first step. I hope immunity is mine next time. I want to see Xavier gone. He screwed everything up even if he was right. If I was to go home, I should have gone home and not my ally.||”|
Duo Flumina walked into their camp. No one was really disappointed about losing the reward other than Lester. He and Xavier were talking. He asked Xavier, "What were you talking about last night with Astrid? You two were kinda loud."
"I told her that turned my back on this alliance that we have," Xavier said.
"What? Why?" asked Lester.
"To get a higher place in this game. Astrid, you, me. We are on the bottom of this game now. Dennis going home should have showed you and Astrid the truth. I tried to tell you guys but you wouldn't listen," Xavier said.
"I don't care why you did it. Don't turn your back on a promise. Even if you lose out in the end, you kept your word. You didn't. Since you turned on me, I have no choice but to turn on you," Lester replied with hostility in his voice.
"What does that mean?" asked Xavier.
"I don't care what else is going on. I am going to vote for you until one of us goes home," Lester said.
"I thought you didn't turn you back on a promise. Voting for me would be doing that," Xavier retorted.
"The promise is void and broken because of what you did. This is retaliation against you and your broken vow to this alliance," Lester shot back.
"It's up to you. I did what I had to get further in this game. It's not much and chances are that I will not win, but I'll get further that I would have if I didn't turn my back," Xavier said.
"Then why did you do it if you knew that you would be eliminated anyway? You didn't have do what you did then," Lester argued.
"Fine do want me to say something else? I'll say it. I went against you guys to teach Astrid a lesson. She had to be shown she wasn't in control!" Xavier got louder.
"She would have been showed that anyway without you betraying us! You did this for no reason. Why can't you see that?" asked Lester, "I'm done right now. I've got to go."
|“||Xavier pissed me off. You don't betray your alliance just to betray your alliance. Xavier had no reason to do that. He just did it to do it. He himself said that he was probably not going to win so why do it? He had no reason and it pisses me off.||”|
Michelle, Ivan, Esther and Parker were all sitting in the shelter. They had noticed the growing hostilities between Xavier and his former allies, Astrid and Lester. They did say that Xavier would probably get seventh place, but now they were reconsidering. Their camp had become a warzone with the constant arguing. Ivan addressed the issue, "I think we need to get rid of Xavier first before the other two?"
"Why? I thought we agreed to give him seventh place," Michelle said.
"Ivan's right. We need to get rid of him because there will be peace at camp when he's gone," Esther said.
"Their arguing the night Dennis left woke me up and after the reward challenge, it annoyed me," Parker added.
"I heard that Xavier is getting a vote from Lester and more than likely Astrid. So that's two. Only three of have to vote Xavier to give him the majority needed to vote him off," Esther told the others.
"So let's agree to vote out Xavier right now for peace and quiet at camp," Ivan said.
"Fine," Michelle said.
All four of them agreed to vote for Xavier the next night at tribal council.
|“||I know we agreed to keep Xavier because of what he did, but there is no need to do that. What we need is peace and quiet at camp. We won't have that until Xavier is gone so that is the reasoning we are using to get rid of Xavier before Astrid and Lester.||”|
Return from the Dead
"Come on in, guys!" Jeff called out. The tribe came in and Jeff continued, "Are you ready to get to today's immunity challenge? First things first. Piper, I'll take it back...Immunity is back up for grabs. For today's challenge, the challenge is divided up into three rounds. In the first round, you must untie a large knot to release a ring. The first four to release their ring will go to the next round. In the second round, the four of you will run up some come crates and bounce coconuts off of a net to destroy a target. The first two to burst all three targets move to the final round. The final round consists of hitting three targets in a row either horizontal, vertical, or diagonal out of a 3x3 grid. The first person to knock three our three in a row wins immunity.
"Astrid, you won an advantage in this challenge. Open it up and read it," Jeff said.
Astrid opened the note, "Congratulations, you won the right to jump straight to the second round of this challenge."
"That means Astrid can take a seat on the bench. It also means that the first three who untie the ropes will join Astrid in the second round. We'll draw for spots and get ready," Jeff said. The survivors drew and got in their spots for the challenge. Jeff gave the signal and the challenge was on.
The eight survivors began untying their knots. Some with more efficiency than others. Parker, Piper, Esther and Xavier gained a lead over the others. Ten minutes passed. Parker, Esther, and Xavier pulled ahead over Piper. Piper was still ahead over everyone else. Several minutes later, Esther was the first one to release her ring. Xavier was right behind her but his ropes became tangled together. Parker freed his ring and was heading onto the second round. Due to Xavier's rope tangling, Piper gained the lead over him and was the third person to release her ring.
"Esther, Parker, and Piper join Astrid in the second round!" announced Jeff.
Esther, Parker, Piper and Astrid were set to begin the second round. Jeff gave to go. All four ran to get a coconut. Esther threw her coconut. It bounced off the net and broke one of her targets. Astrid did the same. Parker and Piper missed. The second time they threw the coconuts, Esther missed. Astrid broke her second target. Piper broke her first and so did Parker. Esther threw her third coconut. It destroyed her second target. Astrid threw her third coconut and was perfect. Her third target was broken. She made it to the final round. Parker hit his second target. Piper missed her second. Esther threw her fourth coconut. It bounced off the net and broke her final target.
"Esther and Astrid are going to the final round!" announced Jeff.
Jeff gave the signal. The third round began. The first set of shots were first. Astrid hit the center top, knocking it out. Esther knocked out her center tile. In the second round of shooting, Astrid broke the center left tile. Esther shot broke the top left corner. Astrid fired her third shot. It broke the top left corner on hers. Esther broke out the top center tile on her board. Both Astrid and Esther needed one tile broken to win immunity. Astrid need it in the bottom left corner or the top right corner. Esther need the bottom right corner, the bottom right corner, or the bottom center tile. Astrid fired her next shot at the bottom left. It hit the frame of the grid. Esther fired her fourth coconut. It knocked out the top right corner giving Esther the win.
"Esther wins immunity!" Jeff yelled. The tribe retook their spot on the mat. Esther walked over to Jeff. He put the necklace around her neck. Jeff said, "Esther is safe from the vote tonight. As for the rest of you, one of you will be going home tonight. I'll give you the afternoon to think about it."
|“||My time is over. I needed that win. If Xavier said I was going home a few days ago, that means I'm gone tonight.||”|
Ivan, Michelle, Parker, and Esther approached Olive and Piper about the decision to vote out Xavier. They explained what they talked about the day before. Olive replied with, "I actually agree with this. Camp is a little tense with them at each others throats. We need to cut the cancer out of the body."
"I'm fine with it," Piper said, "They are going to be eliminated anyway. It doesn't matter which order they are eliminated in."
"Then it's done. Xavier is gone tonight," Ivan said.
Duo Flumina walked into tribal. They took their seats and Jeff asked, "So how was camp after last tribal?"
"Anger," Piper said, "Anger between Astrid and Xavier and Lester and Xavier."
"Why between those two and Xavier? What did you do Xavier?" asked Jeff.
"Turned my back on my alliance," Xavier replied, "I did it to teach Astrid a lesson. To teach her that she was not in control of this game."
"That didn't seem to be a smart move for you to make," Jeff said.
"I don't care what anyone thinks. I believe it to be the right move for me. If people don't agree with that, I don't give a shit. I don't know how many times I can say that," Xavier rattled off.
"Is that what you have been experiencing at camp?" asked Jeff.
"Pretty much. Just a little more anger and louder," Ivan said.
"How are you as a tribe handling that?"
"We are dealing with it," Olive said.
"Lets see how you handle it," Jeff said, "Piper start us off."
|“||Not the original plan, but I like peace at camp. When you're here, there is no peace.||”|
|“||I hope you know that betraying your alliance was pointless. You're gone tonight.||”|
|“||I told you I was voting for you so I am.||”|
|“||Screw you, asshat.||”|
|“||Now it's your time to go.||”|
Jeff left and returned with the urn. He said, "The person with the highest number of votes will be asked to leave the tribal council area immediately. I'll read the votes."
First vote: Astrid
Second vote: Xavier
Third vote: Xavier
Fourth vote: Xavier
Xavier's head shot up. He asked, "What?"
Fifth Vote: Xavier
"Son of a bitch," Xavier shot.
"The eighth person voted out of Survivor: La Mosquitia and the first member of our jury: Xavier. That's five. That's enough votes. Please bring me your torch."
Astrid started to laugh as Xavier brought his torch to Jeff. Jeff snuffed it, "Xavier, the tribe has spoken."
Xavier left tribal council. Jeff turned back to the tribe, "It would seem that the source of the anger and hostility in the tribe has been severed. Go ahead and head out."
|Tribal Council 8:|
Xavier (8 votes)
Astrid, Esther, Ivan, Lester,
Michelle,Olive, Parker, Piper
Astrid (1 vote)
|“||I can't believe that I was next. I bet it has to do with the arguing with my old alliance members all the time. I thought I did what was right, but I guess that my decision wasn't the right one.||”|
